Modern Hadith/ sayings

Peace
So I checked out a blog and it mentioned the following
'Something I’ve been noticing is that people including myself have an extreme aversion to hadiths attributed to Muhammad. However, I’ve also noticed that many people follow hadiths of others, including those promoting detrimental and false doctrines.
Let me give you an example.
Sahih al-Mainstream Beliefs, Book on homosexuality, Vol.1, Hadith no. 242 Narrated CNN (may its owners be pleased with them) We heard the American Psychologists Association (may the government be pleased with them) say “Homosexuality is no longer considered a mental illness. Anyone who disagrees is a bigot.”'
Well that's just a snippet of what they mentioned. Anyway, I tend to read a lot of psychological articles and stuff like that. A lot of what is written often make sense and it's not as if it's a religious ruling. It just explains human behaviour and sometimes offers solutions. As long as it is not viewed as 'divine guidance from God/ religious ruling' or goes against the Qur'an, 'modern hadith' or sayings from sources such as psychology, science, ideologies etc. are okay to be followed or I guess be taken as a legitimate source of knowledge. Would you agree? Or if you disagree, please explain your point of view.
thanks
