Sirius rise and set in the Southern Hemisphere.
-
Peace all,
This is just a visual presentation of the rising and setting of Sirius in the Southern Hemisphere specifically Brisbane where this star is visible every night of the year.
The post is specifically for Anwar who has questioned this fact.
Here is the situation on the evening of 22/7/2005 when Sirius and the Sun will set together.

Now later in the night, in fact in the early morning of the 23/7/2005 Sirius is back on the opposite horizon rising so that it becomes visible during the morning.

and then several hours later the sun rises. Note that Sirius is well up in the sky having been visible for many hours of the night/morning.

The reason is that the position of Sirius on the celestial sphere ~ 17 degress south.
Regards.
