Hi! I have been reading this forum for a while trying to digest it all. I am not too big on superflous titles, but after seeing how so many believers kill each other in the name of a god I felt being agnostic was the best choice. Maybe I was afraid of coming to the wrong conclusions or choosing the wrong religion. I always considered the possibility even likelihood of a God, but the endless wars left me confused. I heard about The Koran from a friend of mine and she told me of the mathematical miracles which just confused me further even after reading the discussions here. I don't understand what this miracle means. The more I read the translations the more intrigued I was by the beautiful use of language and I am just a sucker for a great book I can curl up to. I believe it is the word of God however does God ever stop writing? Logically, books will never stop being sent down right?

I have a question to those of you who do study The Koran. Why is The Koran even necessary? Is being a person of good moral standing not enough? A God of reason would accept that I am sure. I don't mean this to be an attack on those who spend time their valuable studying The Koran, which I am sure is of great spiritual value. I hope to learn and offer fresh insight into ongoing discussions. Thank YOU for reading )

I agree with you to a great extent. But as a God-alone Christian, I find the bible, Quran and other "holy" books enable me to understand God a little better, even though they were written by men, they do convey a very powerful message.

Good questions. My response is, how would you know what is "good"? It is subjective and different cultures and people have different ideas about it. For me, what makes good real and objective is God. How are we to know what God says is good if it hasn't been revealed?

i assume that being a good moral person is gud ..but being a believer in the one True God is a must...only God knows who will go to heaven..im noone to comment on the qualifications required , but i do believe that crediting the Creator for his creation is a must, and it is the main reason we were sent hereto recognise His signs. once u do that then its easier to be a good person i think, coz it gives u perspective in life, that u are not the god of ur own world, nomatter how much u try to be..it tells u that God is in charge and watever gud u do will not go to waste in this life or the next..
the quran, bible and all these books help me get closer to Allah, coz i look for His signs in them..specially the quran.it makes me feel like hes talking to me..and i feel that even in the worst of times i have Someone to depend upon...so yea my belief in Allah helps me every second of everyday..makes me feel loved nomatter what, and keeps me healthy physically and spiritually. )

Revelation from God doesn't stop with Quran, God is Ever-Living and Eternal, He still send us His revelations up till todate.. we just have to know where to look.. as quoted from the Quran "There are signs for those who understands".
Being agnostic is a good choice.. always look for wisdom from whichever sources.. me myself is also an agnostic.. i don't believe in religion/sect.
Being a person of good moral standing is good enough, the Quran is abundant with stories about Abraham, Moses, Jesus etc.. Those people never ever read the Quran in their entire life (Or the Bible or the Torah for Abraham case), as the Quran just doesn't exist during their lifetime, yet their struggle and life stories was being rendered with such praise in the Quran. Yet by being agnostic, you should try to look for wisdom from whichever sources.. and one of those sources is the Quran.

Thank you for your intelligent answer. If you don't mind my asking, how do you know what is good? As you say It is very subjective, so aren't our interpretations of The Koran also subjective? What is revelation? Did you find God before you read The Koran?

I understand what you're saying, but is a book necessary to see the signs or beauty of God?

I am agnostic when it comes to religion. Good points nevertheless.
I think there is much wisdom to be attained from those books but is God's wisdom limited to any one book? Books have flaws, even if they themselves are pure and flawless. We as readers are not so perfect and are privy to the wrong interpretation. As an example, there are many killing in the name of religion or religious texts. Having said that, I believe the Koran is crisp, and straight to the point which I find very appealing.
