Feeding. The mouth parts comprise a proboscis, carried bent up under the head when not in use, but extended by means of blood pressure and muscles when feeding. The base of the proboscis is expanded into two lobes, the lower surface of which is traversed by parallel channels called pseudotracheae. Only liquids can be taken in by the housefly. When it settles on food the proboscis is extended so that the oral lobes are placed on the surface of the food. Saliva is secreted from salivary glands and runs down a channel into the pseudotracheae and on to the food which it begins to digest and liquefy. Muscles in the proboscis enable the oesophagus to pump up the semi-digested liquid from the pseudotracheae which converge into the oesophagus, and pass it to the crop and ?stomach? or mid-gut. Sometimes the fly regurgitates the partly digested fluid, which hangs as a large drop from the lobes of the proboscis and may be left on the surface where the fly has settled, and seen as a 'vomit spot? on windows, etc. This procedure possibly enables the fly to mix more saliva with the food, since the salivary duct opens into the oesophagus only just above the lobes of the proboscis.
The saliva probably contains a mixture of enzymes, since the fly can be seen feeding on a great variety of substances though it may have a preference for sweet and soluble carbohydrates.

But i want to know what the second sentence of the verse is telling us. What is your interpretation/explanation of the second sentence in the verse below?

Flies cannot chew. They have to suck up their food. Flies have mouth parts that absorb food like a sponge. Their food has to be in a liquid form in order for them to eat it. They have a tongue shaped like a drinking straw to slurp up their meals. Flies that eat nectar or blood do so by using their tongue which is called a proboscis. Even flies that eat other insects do so by sucking out the insides of their victims. When a housefly lands on our food, it vomits on the food. The digestive juices, enzymes, and saliva in the vomit begin to break down and dissolve the food. The fly can then suck up the liquid food with its sponge-like mouth parts and its proboscis. If flies eat food from garbage cans or any other source of germy food, some of those germs stick to the fly's mouthparts and when the fly vomits on its next snack (your sandwich?), it transfers some of those germs.

Its not saying humans cant create a living thing, its saying 'those you call upon besides Allah' cant make a living thing, Allah CAN. Its telling you that others that are called upon besides Allah are not the Creator, He is.
Its saying these others that are called upon (meaning Jesus even, or the sun god or whatever people used to worship) are not Allah and if a fly took anything from them (nothing to do with a fly eating) they couldnt take it back from the fly as Allah could. Its a parable if you like, as it says 'an example so listen to it' meaning find the meaning in what its saying.

Both the idols (statues etc) and the ones who are seeking (worshipping them) are weak.Human beings and their idols are weak. They are both weak because they can not create anything. If the fly takes something away from an Idol (a statue), the statue can not bring it back, because the statue is not a living thing, the statue can not move. It can not go after the fly to bring it back.
I think verse 2273 also has another explanation. I think It tells us about the limits of mankind, and it might also tell us about the arrogance of modern science and the belief that human beings one day can create life. This belief is an illusion.

Arrogance of modern science? You're doing a personalization of an abstract concept.
Quite similar to what idol worshipper used to do, personalization of an observable dead entity such as Sun, Star or Thunder.Science (from the Latin scientia, meaning "knowledge" is a systematic enterprise of gathering knowledge about the world and organizing and condensing that knowledge into testable laws and theories. (ref Wikipedia)
Science is a 'methodology', it is neither arrogance or humble, good or evil.
Science can be used to decipher, uncover and understand God's signs and laws which according to Quran are abundantly being 'written' in the heaven and the earth. And it is recommended for us (human) to uncover and understand them.Having said that; human who are applying 'science' methodology can be categorized / labeled as arrogance or humble, liar or honest.
Perhaps it's true that some 'human scientist' are 'arrogance/liar' for making bold and false claims such as ability to create life. Yet the 'science' methodology and culture itself creates room for other 'human scientist' to test and challenge such bold claims, and so far it is clearly evident that 'human cannot create anything'. What human could do is actually modifying things to become another things. (i.e. Iron Ore into Cars, Silicon into CPU, living cells into another kind of living cells through DNA modification)
The good things that 'science methodology' brought to modern culture is the habits of having a healthy and objective discussions / debates on wide range of subjects, compared to the 'theocratic methodology and culture' where disagreement with certain 'religious/sectarian' authority; challenging their ideas, dogma and concepts could results in ending one's life at the stake.
A jewish guy named Jesus was a very good example of those and his cousin; John as well...Dogma is the established belief or doctrine held by a religion, ideology or any kind of organization it is authoritative and not to be disputed, doubted or from which diverged. (ref wikipedia)
I'm among those who thanks God for giving me life in 'modern age' where 'science' has triumphed over 'religion'.

You are right. Saying that science is arrogance is like saying that a knife is evil. It is not science or a knife that should be blamed, but it is the one who use it that should be blamed (if he use it for something negative). A knife can be used for something negative or something positive. And science can be used for something negative or something positive. For example, science can be used for making weapons, which can be negative. Or science can be used for making an electric car, which can be positive. It was not my intention to generalize. Let me correct my errror. I should have been more specific. What i meant was the following "The arrogance of some modern scientists". So i take back what i said in my last post. I know what science is Jafar.

Respect.I'd say that this fly, if ther eis one, and she decides to take something away from a human, they would be unable to get it back from her. Obviously this fly was not and is not the creation of human.
The first part speaks about how human cannot reate and the second how the existing creation, as small and powerless as a fly can take something from us and we wouldn't be able to get it back.
A pigeon can "steal" my piece of bread from my hands and i won't be able to get it back, since i got no wings.
