6-story Jesus statue in Ohio struck by lightning? your opinions?
-
It was a natural event.. usually happens to tall structures...
Bt if one were to deduce that this was an act of GOD, then the message is loud n clear "Mankind, thou shalt quit making idols!" sun
And anyways with such nicknames as "Touchdown Jesus" and guffaws from onlookers, the statue was anything but holy.Peace

Let us realize that the reason why the sculpture outside the Solid Rock Church was struck by lightning and burned to the ground last night was not an act of God so much as it was human error. The structure was not grounded correctly and any structure that is one of the tallest in the general area has the highest chance of getting struck. The people of that church have every right to rebuild. It is their constitutional right to express their freedom of religion.

Lightning is an act of God.
Human error is also an act of God.
Separating the hand of God from anything is what the quran defines as "shirk"/setting up partners. All is from God.

Aren't you afraid of the intellectual position of this kind of view of God? Why study science if everything occurs only by the will of God? Why accept personal responsibility in life if everything is the will of God? Finally, I thought shirk was assigning an anthropomorphic hand to God? And finally finally, does your view imply that God is evil because we cannot separate evil from God?

Peace,
Respect. We should keep in mind this The Exalted God The MOST Wise, allows things to happen.
He The MOST Merciful allows those kids in Africa to starve to death and He allows for rich to get richer and for Beyonce to throw a sandwich out of the car in Telephone with Lady gaga, while many people don't have for a half of that sandwich.God knows best.
2216 Warfare has been decreed for you while you hate it; and perhaps you may hate something while it is good for you, and perhaps you may love something while it is bad for you; and God knows while you do not know.
For example, i understand now - in 2010 - why i was deported in 1999 and 2006. Time. Patience. Wisdom.
God bless you all.Peace.

well the way i like to think about is is that god/allah gives us the way to finding all these cures for diseases and particle accelerators and theories on how the world started. we couldnt have done it without him.
see if we think about it like 'hes controlling us so whats the point of life' then ya, there would be no point since itd all be predecided. but its like, we have the free will and god lays out the choices, and we're judged on what choice we take.
about the anthropomorphic hand, theres no way we'll ever know until we die i guess.
gods not evil. he does what he does and theres no changing that. its beyond the human mind. i know how illogical that sounds, but eitherway, believing in evolution or god leads to the same conclusion. as humans we're kinda powerless. if u follow science, then theirs a long way to go. we havent even found a cure to cancer, much less be able to control our environment or weather. same with believing in god, we have no choice but to follow the choices a head of us.okay, im a horrible descriptionist and wasnt able to translate what i think into that. what i wrote above is, i agree, a bit illogical, but my thoughts are hard to put into words.

Peace be upon you,
with all due Respect.I'd say that hitting this statue was a test and some people might say this, some will say that, in the end, God does what He wishes.
I also remember when black cube in Mecca was flooded, not that much but there was a flood, can't remember the year and the details but God is testing us and we must keep up the good will, God willing.God bless you.

There is absolutely nothing to be afraid of. To create a concept of God then imagine the world as being moved by this invisible hand is wrong. However believing that everything occurs by the will of God does not change the universe. Why? Because whether or not you choose to believe in it, it has been happening that way for the last 14 billion years anyway.
So one can carry on studying science and accepting personal responsibility; the "hand of God" is something that allows free will within apparent determinism so there is no problem there anyway.
Does my view imply that God is evil? Not necessarily, it merely means that God is ONE. Evil is part of God, we are part of God, Earth is part of God but irrespective of this, one cannot describe an individual entity/concept as "God". Also the quran deals with why evil exists, purely to test humanity.
Shirk is assigning partners to God, saying that anything other than the all-powerful has a share of power in infinite power.

Its been some time since I stopped in. BTW, hi all. This incident of the lightning hitting the Jesus statue. It was nature, pure and simple. Attributing anything else can be compared to a tornado hitting a mosque, church, or synagogue. Just because one particular religious item was targeted by nature, this is no reason to start any wild conspiracy theories.
