    Peace all )

From my studies of the Quran, I think I found a verse that says that when
a man and a woman want to get married, they should make a promise to God,
make a pact. But I can't find the verse.

Does anyone know which verse it is?

    Peace and love
    David.

    could it be this one?

YUSUFALI There is no blame on you if ye make an offer of betrothal or hold it in your hearts. Allah knows that ye cherish them in your hearts But do not make a secret contract with them except in terms Honourable, nor resolve on the tie of marriage till the term prescribed is fulfilled. And know that Allah Knoweth what is in your hearts, and take heed of Him; and know that Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Forbearing.

No, unfortunately it is not that verse. That verse do not tell us that a man and a woman have to make a pact (promise) to god when they want to get married. They have to promise not just eachother, but also make a promise to God. I hope the verse which tells us this exists, because if it do not exist, then I have based my view upon wishful thinking/guesswork

        But thanks anyway.

              Haha. off course not

But it is possible that the verse (actually was not a verse) and just my philosophy or wishful thinking. This is what happens when someone thinks too much. Without being aware of it, you will slowly transform yourself into a flying object. You will fly far above the ground and become a metaphysical rocket. A metaphysical rocket separated from the real world, flying deeper and deeper into idealism and the world of imagination. Lol. Just kidding.

                  Peace,
                  Respect.

Read The Quran from the beginning and read it at night

736 The time of the night is more effective and better for study.

                  Also, seek refuge in God

1698 When you read the Qur'an, you shall seek refuge with God from the outcast devil.

Ask God and you will find, God willing. Look to any and all verses regarding marriage and I'm sure you'll find what you are looking for.
                  May God help you, brother.
                  Peace. jedi

                    Salaam,

Are these the verses you're looking for?

And if any of your wives have gone from you unto the disbelievers and afterward ye have your turn (of triumph), then give unto those whose wives have gone the like of that which they have spent, and keep your duty to Allah in Whom ye are believers.

O Prophet! If believing women come unto thee, taking oath of allegiance unto thee that they will ascribe nothing as partner unto Allah, and will neither steal nor commit adultery nor kill their children, nor produce any lie that they have devised between their hands and feet, nor disobey thee in what is right, then accept their allegiance and ask Allah to forgive them. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

                    Salaam.

                      Salaam Born again,

No, I was not looking for any of those verses. I am looking for a verse which tells men/women who want to get engaged to their partner to make a promise to god that they are going to stay together. So that they would not break their promise.

                      But thanks anyway
