I actually tried looking it up on the forum before making the initial post since I remembered reading about this "shame their women" translation, but couldn't find anything. I have looked up the verses now though. Makes sense.

The difference is only about who said this, here the people, who said this, does not include Pharaoh. What he said is mentioned after it. And in the parentheses is explained because of Prefixed conjunction which shows cause/reason-sequence and effect/consequence. This is told at some other place that they did so because of feel of pride. All such statements were made to diffuse the effect of demonstrative signs that caused a division amngst the elite and to give a strong signal to those who had shown difference of opinion in their reaction.
