okay the verse in question is this one

And Lot when he said to his people, "Do you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds?

"Verily, you practise your lusts on men instead of women. Nay, but you are a people transgressing beyond bounds''

If the immorality in question; is homosexuality

this contradicts the large amount of evidence that homosexuality existed before the time of Lot.

But another POINT IS THIS, this is the prophet LOT speaking, prophets are fallibe (there are verses where Allah critisises Muhammed for making a mistake), it is not the SPEECH of ALLAH, so therefore is fallible

      Peace

this contradicts the large amount of evidence that homosexuality existed before the time of Lot.

How you know that it existed before the time of lot? Where is the historical evidence? I would like to see it.

Keep in mind that I am not saying it did not exist before the time of lot.

I think with the people of Lot it wasnt so much homosexuality as in consenting adults but more of rape, men raping men, although this all happened in Genesis which is 'the beginning' so possibly these were the first homosexuals. What large amount of evidence is there that homosexuality existed before the time of Lot?

          New translation

And Lot when he said to his people, "Do you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the knowledgeables"

Are you still seeing any contradiction?

          I hope this helps

I think this came up before nd somebody showed that this expresi?n of nobody did it before in the worlds is a way of speaking. It is not to be taken literally, but as an expression of shock. I think that there is at least another instance in the Qur'an where the expression is used precisely with that meaning. I do not remember where it was, but maybe somebody can point it out.

              Salaam

One would have to differentiate between Lots' time and Noah's time.

As for the Lot example possibly dating before or around the Fifth Egyptian dynasty.

the people of lot weren't punished because of homosexuality, read the whole chapters , they were pirates , rape and kill , they did mischief, and homosexuality was just a cherry on the cake, raping men no matter who they are , i believe nobody did that before them , as to homosexuality alone? i don't think god did a law for punishing them in the quran, he puts it with filth i guess, if they were punished for homosexuality, than allah would have put a law for punishing homosexual acts if it was that great sin, maybe it falls on adulters, maybe it's considered "illness" so it wasn't presalitycribed a punishement, of maybe the part of lot people as beign homos so we consider it one of the things allah told us to avoid , but the punushement for lot had nothing to do with homosexuality, it is clear
probebly it's the bbiblical story that influenced the inderstanding of many people
