    Salam,
Ppl often look 4 signs of GOD around them while one of the greatest signs is within themselves i.e. their being consious of themlseves. Qs r often asked as 2 wht commands/controls the brain? Some ppl say the spirit or soul. But this cannot be a single entity existng on its own coz lets say the brain is controlled by another entity. Then wht is tht entity controlled by n again wht is tht entity controlled by, etc ,etc. This goes on uptil infinity. The Quran says
They ask you about the spirit. Say, "The spirit comes from the command of my Lord. The knowledge given to you is minute."
I understand this verse 2 talk abt the spirit in genreral which is a continuous command issued by GOD 2 keep our self conscience alive coz self conscience can only be established at infnity coming from infinity i.e. from GOD directly n is in continuous need of GOD, the Infinite Power Source. Therefore u n i cannot exist independently without GOD's Command. GOD Bless!

      Hello idmkhizar,

You wrote "Self conscience is one of the greatest proof tht GOD exists". This is almost Descartian "ergo cogito sum". But can you not see the possibility that the development of AI, artificial intelligence (though it is still a long way yet, but scientists are already making great progress) will destroy this belief in God, if that was the case?

      Regards,

Khi- R artificially intelligent devices self conscious? Do they feel themselves? Do they control themselves? No they r controlled by how their neural circuits pick up natural experience from the enviroment n the process them. They have no free will. We on the other hand must be controlling our brain, otherwise we wldnt be experincing self cosnciousness, which then controls our body. Although i must admit at this pt tht self conscience can only be really proved by each individual 2 him/herself 4 he/she experiences her/himself n ONLY tht person can experience tht n hence by looking deep inside urself u can find ur way 2 GOD also. GOD Bless!

          Mashallah brother Khizar

Great post... What are your views on this verse in relation to what you have said

He shaped him and blew into him from His spirit. And He gave you the hearing, the eyesight, and the brains; rarely are you thankful.

Reading the Bhagavad Gita, hindu spritual scripture, I was shocked at how many incredible similarities exist with the spirit of the Quran. According to it, anyone can reach the status of the supreme personality of Godhead by destroying the ego and cultivating the soul...maybe the intellect/consciousness is really a divine spark given to us by God (breathed into us) which if cultivated properly can make us reach back to Him?? Maybe that's why God says He is closer to us than our jugular vein? This is not to say that God exists within everyone but that He has breathed into us from His spirit and this is represented by the human concience?

Afterall doesnt God say we will "all go back to Him" in the end? Maybe this is why heaven starts on earth for the believers...as we grow spiritually we get closer and closer to God.

          Peace,

          Omar

Khi- I agree with u totally. To say GOD is inside us is incorrect though part of GOD's infinite Light is in everyone of us. GOD Bless!

Artificial devices are not conscious yet but I see a possiblity they might be one day.

Can you not be just consciouss without moving or feeling around your environment? Some meditatives states are like that where you are just aware of your consciouness and nothing else...

              Regards,

                  Hello IDmkhizar,

What was trying to say that Artificial devices may one day will be able say these things and say it in a Descartian "Cogito Ergo Sum".

Programming Advances in neural networks already showing that might be a possibility but it is still early days yet...only time will tell....

                  Regards,

Khi- Can AI devices have a free will like us or do they work according 2 the situation n the way they r programmed? Also such devices u r talking abt r far from production. Japan has just mangaed 2 produce some more or less dumb robots who can hardly assist in carrying a steel rod in company of a man. GOD Bless!
