O you who believe! Al Qisas(the law in equality of punishment) is prescribed for you in case of murder The free for the free, the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. But if the kiler is forgiven by the brother(or the relatives, etc) of the killed against the blood money, then adhering to it with fairnes and payment of the blood money to the heir should be made in fairnes. This is an aleviation and a mercy from your lord. So after this whoever transgreses the limits(ie. kills the killer after taking the blood monay) he shal have a painful torment.

To me it looks like this verse from the Koran means that ot is OK to punish pople with death only in the case of murder were you are not forgiven.

This interpretation is from the traditional Koran that has hadiths in wich it says that the christians and the jews wil be going to hell wich I don't believ and the two Korans that I orderd ( the monotheist group and thereformist Koran) haven't arived yet.
To be continued(it wouldn't let me write any more)-------------------

This is a continuation from the previous post.-----------------

So if you have a better interpretation can you please post it and explain it as to why it means the death penalty or not.

By the way in which cases would you alow for the death penalty.

Or how does everyone think we could reduce crime rate especialy drug related crimes since they are vary common.

And what would be the message from the KOran on how to treat mentaly ill serious ofenders.

      Thanks

I believe in the death penalty, my friend, just think for yourslef, you have a daughter , an inocent litle kid, and a man mature, come and rape her, take advantage of her, than ends her life by killing her , you think this man when he's is the court of justice ,, he must spend life in prison? enjoying sex with boys? living a life in prison and tormenting yourger boys? having fun in prison at been a leader of a gang? enjoying his life in prison while waiting for a pardon from court or government? it's sensitive the death sentence, but i believe if it was the case, a case like this, the court must adress you, you want a death penalty or something else? than u decide for court must have decided to put him to death aftltyer found guity
if it was a murder that can be pardonned or ransomed and leave it to allah, or payed just by jail time .... it's up to the kind of murder and tha family of the murdered
, well, i think the rule of the quran is just perfect, can't be better

OK loxbox. So some murders to you are pardonable and others aren't. I am asuming from your post that the age of the victim is a deciding factor. So you are prety clear on that. But I would like to ask you from refering to the Koran. How would you treat mentaly ill serious ofenders. Acording to a hadith the pen is lifted while the person is insane til he regains sanity. But I don't believe in the hadis. So if you were to look to Koran for wisdom how would you treat with corectible mentaly ill serious offenders.

          Thanks

            It's all in The Quran.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

Eye for an Eye and tooth for a tooth, and it can be compensation if u want, about capital penalty, i think if a sick man kills, he's to be juged according to his ability of free will and knowing what's good and what's evil, but isn't to be left to the street for an ill person like this one is a danger to society, but a man with full awarness, i believe if he kils someone and know what he's doing, than the family of the victim who decides, that's my understanding

The qisas part I think has been dealt with in this forum to some length. My understanding, after as attentive an analysis as I am able to, the aya on qisas does not refer to murder, but to death by accidental means. Sister Samia, on the other hand pointed to the fact that it might not be about persons, but about cattle. Be one way or another, there is an aya which says that no person can be killed except for murdering another and (can0t remember the rest). That doesn't mean that for murdering another the penalty must necessarily be death. I think it is left open, as with most things, for people to set their own penalties for different crimes. There is no obligation to impose death nor an obligation not to impose it. That is my understanding.

                Salaam

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

Unfortunately, without an eye for an eye, only the innocent go blind.

O you who have attained certainty/trust/faith! The law of equality has been prescribed for you in dealing with murder. If a free person has committed murder, that free person will face the law. If a servant has committed murder, that servant will face the law. And if a woman has committed murder, that woman will face the law. If the victim's kin pardons the guilty, the murderer must be appreciative and pay an equitable compensation to the kin in handsome gratitude. This pardon is a concession and mercy from your Lord. Whoever, after this, trespasses this law will incur a massive punishment.

This verse talks about the equality of everyone in front of the law, which is advocated by God under his laws. Through this, there will, ideally, be no cases of revenge by the kin of the murdered person. This is how life is being saved. A popular and absurd interpretation of this verse is that it advocates that a woman can only be sentenced to death when she was killed a woman, a servant can only be senteced to death if he/she has killed a servant, etc. However, there are obvious problems with this interpretation, one being that a woman is both a woman and free, so, according to the popular interpretation, she should be senteced to death whether she murders a woman or any other free person, which is ignored in that interpretation.

So basically this verse advocates against the "an eye for an eye" concept. The kin of the murdered person is encouraged to forgive the murderer in return for a recompense. Note that "whoever, after this, trespasses this law will incur a massive punishment", meaning that if you take revenge (going by the "an eye for an eye" principal), will incur a massive punishment.

                      Peace
