I've always found that a bit disturbing. How can placing a Qur'an in your car, or hanging a verse around your neck protect you from anything? That is just superstition imho. Also, I would never put any book, much less the Qur'an, in a dusty, dirty place, such as the dashboard of a Cairo taxi, for example.
The funny thing is that some of the people who do this are at the same telling you that you should wear gloves when touching the Qur'an while on your period ... yeah, right.

Or reading it for the dead. My gran had the Quran recited for her AFTER she died. Of course the guy who did it was paid for his trouble.

Th1/Mindhunter/SEBASTIAN/Poster boy for the Sociopaths Association,

      Sir, the Quran says

24/27 O ye who believe! enter not houses other than your own, until ye have asked permission and saluted those in them that is best for you, in order that ye may heed

Your permission to be here has now been revoked. No doubt you can find other IP addresses but if you believed in Quranic ethos, should you be in someone else's house without permission?

          Sheesh!

Try to register in a sunni forum and behave like a certain member has been behaving here ... derailing threads, yelling, screaming, insulting people, committing takfir, telling people in their introduction threads that they have come to the wrong place and so on. You'd be banned faster than you could say "astaghfirullah".

I believe the mods have actually been very kind. I used to be an administrator in a forum for years, and I would have banned him much earlier.

          nope

Yes, I remind you of your worst nightmares, you have ever seen or dreamt about it .

Now, I'm asking you to remove the ban if you're truthful, banned me will just make my situation more stronger that what I said is the truth, you said use Quran , all my verses are about Quran.

The debate was not fair, he asked me, I answered him, I asked him, he didn't answer . Why ? you tell me .

            Selam

offtopic Can we please stick to the topic. Behave and be respected. No one is telling you not to debate but please do not think you know it all.

            Peace

Just came across this. Reciting Ayat al-Kursi protects people from getting raped. http//img13.imageshack.us/img13/3531/stupidki.gif http//img13.imageshack.us/img13/3531/stupidki.gif http//img13.imageshack.us/img13/3531/stupidki.gif

I've came across that 'true' story a few times before, but strangely enough it's been taking place in so many different places o

Funy how some muslims, not meaning you Leyna! , love to forward and spread things they haven't got slightest idea of if it is tue or not sighs

maybe he means hadith are not the prophets words and he is a Quranist like us yay

If it was like that, it would have been nice, but i think he just tries to say, those hadeeth are from shi'aa, so they are not reliable in his opinion.

In my opinion, the stuff hope4 posted is a serious diversion from the actual analysis and application of the text. Wow, life is so ostensibly easy for these guys huh. Just recite 2/255 and all these magical things happen. Ibn Kathir is not much help either. Quoting people saying how great it is without providing a shred of textual evidence about it. I dunno how people say Ibn Kathir is 'tafsir al-quran bil quran'. This is certainly not an example of it.

To me, the best thing that ever happened to my reading of 2/255 was when the imam read it in context. He read from 2/254 all the way to 2/257. To me, that was so enlightening because 2/254 (which is about spending in the way of Allah) connects so well with 2/255's message of having God's quality of 'hayy' and 'qayyom' on your side.

Could you elaborate this some more? It would be interesting to see your understanding of it.

True Story of a Young Girl Reciting Ayat-ul-kursi

I hear these stories all the time. So God didn't protect the other girl just because she didn't read those verses? The Quran isn't like witchcraft where you say a few magic words and you get what you want. It's like when they say you have to say mashallah to protect yourself from the evil eye.
