Five Prayers Per Day
-
24.58 fajr and Isha, here is 2
62.9 jumma, not counted in this as once a week
2.238 middle prayer, here is 3
11.114 At the 2 ends of the day and approach of night. here is still 3. Fajr, maghrib and isha = 3
17.78 at the decline of the sun till the darkness of night and Quran at dawn, fajr maghrib and isha = 3Glorification of Allah and remembrance of Allah are a constant thing and not reserved for prayer only. The fixed times appear to be 3.
Just my opinion peace
629 mentions a congregation as the important point, but it does not indicate that there is no such prayer at the same time any other day. It does not refer to a "Friday prayer", but simply to the fact that on friday we should congregate when we are called to prayer.
?In houses which Allah has permitted to be exalted and that His name may be remembered in them; there glorify Him in the mornings and the evenings, Men whom neither merchandise nor selling diverts from the remembrance of Allah and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of poor-rate; they fear a day in which the hearts and eyes shall turn about.?
Qur?an 2436-37
Just analysing this single ayah, it seems unlikely that 2436-37 refers to Friday prayer alone. Furthermore, 20130 is placed in the context of salaat by 20132.
It is just my understanding, though to me it is logical given that the Qur'an is clear.
Peace.

In short
The dawn prayer is specifically mentioned.
The night prayer is specifically mentioned. In the same verse we are told that midday is a time for changing clothes, listed in the context of two other prayers. Changing clothes implies ablution (although I won't say it states it specifically) and besides people would change their clothes before fajr prayer (i.e. Allah (SWT) states that we should enter masjids well-dressed) such that there is no reason why people could not change their clothes before the midday prayer (the clothes might get dirty as people get sweaty etc.). The fact that it is a time of privacy makes it clear that it is a time for remembrance (associated strongly with salaat throughout the Qur'an). The Friday prayer is an exception, where we are expected to congregate.
The sunset prayer is specifically mentioned (177. If you translate it as noon then that leads to 5 too.
The day prayer is specifically mentioned (629) with the time for glorification in 3017-18. Glorification times are contextualised as salaat in 20132 (and in 5039-40).
The middle prayer is specifically mentioned.
I can only see five prayers, but one's own unbiased understanding is the best.
Peace

Hello,
This whole thing about how many times we should pray has become so thoroughly frustrating. I do not speak Arabic therefore I can only read the Quran through translations. I keep seeing the arguments on both sides and I only see three prayers mentioned clearly from what I read and what you all are saying. It seems to me they are just being mentioned over and over again for redundancy. Also, what does a person do when they can't stop and pray at a certain time. I work in healthcare and I can't stop in the middle of administering CPR or dialysis to pray which means I will always miss morning prayer. Please help brothers and sisters your input and insight will be greatly appreciated.
Salaam dear Duke,
I understand so much what you say about Salaat, what a disgrace that the Quran alone movement is torn apart on the issue of Salaat. It makes me extremely sad. I have years ago, for about a month, prayed 3 prayers a day, being misguided by people who claimed they had knowledge of the Quran, but had actually, in my opinion, not studied the Quran carefully.
I strongly suggest that you study key verses regarding Salaat using a word for word Quran, I recommend this one, from the university of Leeds http//corpus.quran.com/wordbyword.jsp. I also suggest that you use the 17 English translation database at http//www.openburhan.net/ to make sure you really grasp the correct meaning of verses.
You can read my article on Salaat (http//www.islamrevolution.org/salaatsummary.htm) which will help you gather relevant key verses for prayer time frames, and you can check for yourself the meaning of translations using the original of the Quran through word for word Qurans.
Do not let anyone decide for yourself without doing a serious research. I believe that if you do so, you will pray five times.Salaat has been prescribed at specific times
(4103) ?Observe the ritual prayers; indeed the ritual prayer has been decreed upon believers at specific times.- The Dawn prayer
Dawn Quranic time frame (891) By the Dawn !
(11114) And observe (O Muhammad) the ritual prayer at both extremities of the daylight (dual plural = two entities, referring to the Dawn and Sunset Quranic time frames)?
(20130) So be patient regarding what they say, and celebrate (O Muhammad) the praise(s) of your Lord before sunrise (lit. ?the rising of the sun?)?- Noon Prayer
Noon Quranic time frame Sun at its zenith until ?Asr (Afternoon) (245 ? Before the Dawn prayer, when you put away your clothes in the Midday () , and after the Night prayer?
(301 All praise is due to Him in the heavens and the earth In the evening as well as when you reach Midday ( , when the sun starts to decline at zenith).
(177 Observe (O Muhammad) the ritual prayer from the decline of the sun (?Duluk al shams? at Noon when the sun starts declining from its zenith) until the darkness of the night ?
Remark ?Duluk al Shams? (?the decline of the sun? at noon in 177 cannot possibly mean ?the rubbing of the sun? (at Sunset against the line of the horizon), as some people have claimed, because the Sunset prayer has to be observed when the sun has completely disappeared behind the horizon (as it is made clear in 20130, the exact limit between the Afternoon and Sunset time frames is "the disappearance of the sun", and it frequently takes over one minute for the sun to supposedly ?rub against the line of the horizon? at sea level and disappear completely. Salaat times are perfectly precise, not an approximation. Furthermore it is a lie that the sun ?rubs? against the horizon; it is a ridiculous belief inherited from the middle ages.
- Afternoon prayer
Afternoon Quranic time frame from when the sun reaches the middle between noon and sunset, until sunset (1031) By the Afternoon !
(20130) So be patient regarding what they say, and celebrate (O Muhammad) the praise(s) of your Lord before the rising of the sun (Dawn Quranic time frame) and before its disappearance (primarily the ?Afternoon? Quranic time frame)?
- The Quranic time frame directly located ?before ?the disappearance of the sun? is ?Asr (the afternoon, 1031). You cannot observe the Noon prayer in the ?Afternoon?, so the afternoon prayer is by definition included in the time period referred to as ?before the disappearance of the sun?.
- Exact same meaning in the following verse
(5039) So be patient regarding what they say, and celebrate (O Muhammad) the praise(s) of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before sunset (primarily Afternoon, but also Noon prayer). - The Afternoon prayer is mentioned by name
(223 Preserve strictly the ritual prayers (salawat = 3 or more Salawat), as well as the middle prayer (Salaat al wusta), and stand up before God with humility. - The ?Middle? prayer is the Afternoon prayer, when the course of sun reaches the ?middle? between Noon and Sunset. The ?Middle? prayer is also the middle prayer of all Five daily prayers in Islam (Dawn, Noon, Afternoon, Sunset, Night).
- Sunset prayer
Sunset Quranic time frame visual disappearance of the sun until the apparition of stable darkness at the end of twilight (921) And the night (layl) as it is spreading. ( = imperfect tense action in the process = there is still light in the sky).
(11114) And observe (O Muhammad) the ritual prayer at both extremities of the daylight (dual plural = two entities. Referring to Dawn and Sunset Quranic time frames)?
(20130) So be patient regarding what they say, and celebrate (O Muhammad) the praise(s) of your Lord before the rising of the sun (= Dawn prayer) and before its disappearance (Afternoon, and Noon prayers), as well as from the (first) hours of the night (= Sunset/Night prayers), and celebrate (the praise of your Lord) at the extremities (regular plural = three or more extremities) of the daylight, that you may be content.
- The limit between the Afternoon and Sunset prayers is ?the (complete) disappearance of the sun?. Once the sun has completely disappeared visually in the sky at sea level, it is time for the Sunset prayer.
17.2.5 Night prayer
Night Quranic time frame The dark night
(932) And when the night (layl) has darkened ( = perfect tense = action is over = stable state of darkness = when there is no more daylight in the sky).- The ?Night prayer? (Salaat al 'Ichaa) is mentioned by name in 2458.
- 20130 above says that we shall praise God ?from the (first) hours of the night (= Sunset/Night prayers), and celebrate (the praise of your Lord) at the extremities of the daylight (regular plural = three or more extremities), that you may be content.?
- The Arabic expression which stands for ?from the (first) hours of the night? (Aanaa? llayl) is plural and describes an extended period of time that is much too short for the Sunset time frame alone described in 921 (barely an hour). Therefore ?from the (first) hours of the night? englobes both the ?Sunset? (921) and ?dark Night? (932) Quranic time frames.
(11114) And observe (O Muhammad) the ritual prayer ( َ at both extremities of the daylight ( = Dawn + Sunset), and (و in the early watches of the night ( = Night prayer) verily good deeds repel evil deeds. This is a reminder for those who celebrate (their Lord).
All these FIVE precise Salaat times correspond to FIVE specific Quranic time frames.
People who claim that some verses do not refer to Salaat time frames are exposed by 5039-40
(5039) So be patient regarding what they say, and celebrate (O Muhammad) the praise(s) of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before sunset, (5040) And (starting) from the night ( ), so glorify Him (), as well as at the ends of the prostrations ( ).Even though the word Salaat is not mentioned in 5039-40, the fact we shall glorify God at the ends of the ?prostrations? (Arabic plural = three or more) makes it clear we are dealing with Salaat and Salaat times. Only those who are too arrogant to prostrate during Salaat will reject this incontrovertible proof.
We have seen in this post that indeed Salaat has been prescribed at very specific times wich coincide with specific Quranic time frames.I hope this helps.
Peace and God bless you.
Pierre
6842 The day will come when they will be exposed, and they will be required to fall prostrate, but they will be unable to.

2238
Dear all,
Why are we dragging this subject for so long? Just see 2238. GOD SWT is commanding us to safeguard the SALAWAAT (it is a plural noun, it must be at least 3 salaats) plus/and the SALAATULWUSTAA (the middle salaat).
With careful attention, in order for the SALAWAAT +/and SALAATULWUSTA to have a middle number, then the SALAWAAT must be at least 4. So, the SALAWAAT + the SALAATULWUSTA must be at least 5.
Now, and after the above reasoning one can argue on the timing of each salaat according to other verses of The Qur?aan.
Peace,
KhalilSalaam dear Khalil and all,
(223 Preserve strictly the ritual prayers (salawat), as well as the middle prayer (Salaat al wusta), and stand up before God with humility.
I truly believe that God left us a great sign to solve the issue of how many prayers are described in the verse, and it is the following
If we focus on the key part of the verse "Salawat and Salaat al wusta" ( ٰ the gematrical values are810 = 5 x 162 (Gematrical value of "al sal?t".
Verse 2238 is one of the great proofs that "Al Salaat" is to be observed FIVE times daily; clearly "Salawat" is three of more salawat (regular Arabic plural = 3 or more) and clearly Salaat al wusta is the Middle prayer of the five ritual prayers (Dawn + Noon + Afternoon + Sunset + Night). Those who claim "salaat al wusta" is the friday prayer or else only conjecture.
I fully understand that the clear mathematical sign hidden in the verse will not touch the hearts of those who are described in the following verses
7132 They said, "No matter what kind of sign you show us, to dupe us with your magic, we will not believe."
64 No matter what kind of proof comes to them from their Lord, they turn away from it, in aversion.
3058 Thus, we have cited for the people in this Quran all kinds of examples. Yet, no matter what kind of proof you present to the disbelievers, they say, "You are falsifiers."Most people on this thread know that the plural "Salawat" occurs allegorically Five time in the Quran (2157,238; 999; 2240; 239), another huge sign. The expression "you shall turn your face" in the context of the Quran "towards the Sacred Mosque" also occurs FIVE times, and there are so many other proofs.
I truly believe it is time for people they claim they follow the Quran exclusively to study the Quran carefully and realize that FIVE salaat time frames are clearly described, and unite around the straightforward Quran. (So many more proofs @ http//www.islamrevolution.org/salaatinquran.htm).
Peace and God bless you.

Salam Dear Pierre.
I do believe that you believe whole heartedly in what you are saying and in my opinion your only intention is to convey and guide in the best way possible. I myself am still learning and searching. I also believe that our intentions are what counts and if as with me the intention is to please our Beautiful Creator then I see no harm in that. Thank you Pierre for caring you are a good Brother.Respectfully and with peace
May Allah azza wajal bless you for your endeavour

Simone sunSalaam dear sister,
What matters most is to always remain open to new information, as we may be convinced and still be wrong.
(5039) So be patient regarding what they say, and celebrate (O Muhammad) the praise(s) of your Lord before the rising of the sun ( ِ and before sunset ( ِ, (5040) And (starting) from the night ( ِ, so glorify Him (ُ, as well as at the ends of the prostrations ( ِ.As I have already said on this thread, "at the ends of the prostrations" makes it clear the verse refers to Salaat.
It is also clear that Salaat times are described because specific times of the day are refered to ("Salaat shall be observed at specific times" 4103).
I believe it is key for people who believe in 2 or 3 daily prayers to ask themselves why God says we should glorify "before sunset", which intersects directly with the 'Asr Quranic time frame. Can we perfrom for instance the Noon prayer at 'Asr ? There is already a Quranic time frame described for Noon in the Quran (2458, 301.Peace.

Salaam MesMorial,
I am understanding that you observe two prayers per day (one at the ends of the day and one at night)?
Yes only two per day, but one early in the morning and another one is in evening . There is NO Salaat at night .
The ayah I quoted suggests that prayer is a part of the working day, also.
Yes, true.
May Allah guide us all towards the Truth.
Mohammed M. Khan -
Salaam brother,
The Qur'an does not differentiate between the three prayers and the middle prayer. It tells us to guard them strictly (i.e. constantly) and therefore whether or not the middle prayer is a "normal" prayer we must observe it constantly (like the rest).
Peace
Salawaat does not mean only three salaats, but it could be 3 or more.
It is not a problem if you don't see what I can see clearly in 2238, inshaAllah, you will see one day. )
May Allah guide us all towards the Truth.

Brother, I am wondering when you said that "Salawaat" is three or more, then why not 5 and why only 4? If it is 5 Salaats, then what is the use of mentioning Salaat AlWusta separately, when Salawaat already includes Salaat AlWusta?
Next...
What is the procedure do you follow to perform your Salaat? And where did you get that from? Do you follow the same way Sunnis do? From Hadith? Or you have a different way from AlQuraan?
Please answer.

Mohammed M. KhanSalaam dear Mohammed,
(223 Preserve strictly the ritual prayers (salawat), as well as the middle prayer (Salaat al wusta), and stand up before God with humility.
"Salawat", in the context of the Quran and how God outlined FIVE Salaat times refers to FIVE prayers, including the 'Asr prayer. "Salaat al Wusta" could have been called "Salaat al 'Asr" but God chose to refer to it as "the Middle prayer" of all others, and to insist on the importance to remember God even during the 'Asr Quranic time frame time, which is a time frame of high activity for most people around the world, and because the goal of Salaat is to remember God (2014) at all times, especially in the specific Quranic time frames that he allocated with his divine science.
Because "Salaat al 'Asr" is refered to as the "middle prayer", God gave us a crucial information proving that the total number of daily prayers is an odd number since there cannot possibly be a middle prayer with an even number like 2 or 4.The procedure that I follow for Salaat is the procedure of the Quran.
I studied extensively, with all my heart, the subject of Salaat in the Quran, and wrote a summary and a more detailed article which show that indeed the Quran provides us all the details we need to observe Salaat
Summaryhttp//www.islamrevolution.org/salaatsummary.htm
Main article http//www.islamrevolution.org/salaatinquran.htmI converted to Islam over 20 years ago, there is no group or family pressure for me to pray in a particular way, and I don't care if we have to pray one, two, three, four or five times daily. I simply studied the subject extremely seriously for a very long time (years) and I would not be able to look at myself in the mirror if I did not pray five times because it is what the Quran outlines with extreme precision.
The way Salaat has been detailed in the Quran is a great test of faith for everyone of us; it is a puzzle of a number of verses, and there is only one way to make the puzzle complete it is FIVE Salawat per day. As I explained in detail in the articles above mentioned, it is very important to understand the notion of Quranic time frames in the Quran to realize that Five Quranic time frames intersect with the specific times of the day God wants us to glorify Him in Salaat.
God clearly said that we are to observe Salaat at specific times (4103) and the least we can say is that he beautifully and precisely defined those FIVE times of the day.Peace.

Salaam dear Mohammed,
Can u show me salat maghrin in the quran, and what makes it sunset ? and not before or not in the sun touches the horizon but exactly and the sun is set !
than i might believe what you're saying
I want to see sunset time pray, clear,
And can u answae me why didn't rashad khalfa see any 5 times in the quran, he always say he get it from Abraham , can u explain maybe rashad doesn't understand the quran after all,, a messenger of god who has no clue about times for salat in the revelatonand last, did u read this explanation in arabic of ? it is not a hadith explanation, it is a quran by the quran, u don't know better than the quran

Salaam dear Pierre,
Thanks for your detail reply.

As you said, Allah would have said "Salaat AlAsr" as He already said Salaat AlFajr and Salaat AlEshaan. And you did not answer by question in my above post bro.
As per 4103, Salaats are at specific times. So, what are they? And where are they written?
Salaat + AlFajr - 2458 = Salaat at time of AlFajr
Salaat + AlEshaan - 2458 = Salaat at the time of AlEshaanAlSalaat + AlWusta - 2238 = Salaat at middle/or you want to translate it?
Is AlFajr a time? = yes
Is AlEshaan a time? = yesIs AlWusta a time? = nope
Because "Salaat al 'Asr" is refered to as the "middle prayer", God gave us a crucial information proving that the total number of daily prayers is an odd number since there cannot possibly be a middle prayer with an even number like 2 or 4.
Where did you get this brother, can you please explain me with aayaats?
The procedure that I follow for Salaat is the procedure of the Quran.
But you are mixing Salaat, Dua, Tasbeeh, etc... all together in Salaat.
Allah said everything very clearly, as I saw your article , I found it more confusing because of a mixture of Salaat, Dua and Tasbeeh.
May Allah guide us all towards the Truth.

Salaam,
The time for Salaat al maghrib is detailed here
- Sunset (visual disappearance of the sun until the end of twilight)
Quranic time frame (921) And the night (layl) as it is spreading. ( = imperfect tense action in the process = there is still light in the sky, the sun cannot be seen visually in the sky anymore as the night has appeared).
Salaat time
(11114) And observe (O Muhammad) the ritual prayer ( َ at both extremities of the daylight ( ِ, and (و in the early watches of the night ( verily good deeds repel evil deeds. This is a reminder for those who celebrate (their Lord).

- The limit between the Afternoon and Sunset prayers is ?the (complete) disappearance of the sun? ( ا. Once the sun has completely disappeared visually in the sky at sea level, it is time for the Sunset prayer, not one second or one minute before.
The same type of explanation can be done for all Five daily prayers, we simply need to understand the notion of Quranic time frames.

Mohammed M. Khansalaam,
God mentioned specific times for the day.
So is al Fajr a specific time? yes
Is al Zuhr (or al Zaheerat) a specific time ? yes
Is 'Asr a specific time? yes
Is al Maghrib a specific time ? yes
Is al Icha'a a specific time ? yesTo all these time frames, God said we have to glorify Him. When God says in 5039-40 glorify Him describing specific times, and to glorify Him at the end of the prostrations ( ) it is not a simple du'a but refers to Salawat involving prostrations.
Same thing in 20130 where we find " " (and celebrate (O Muhammad) the praise(s) of your Lord before the rising of the sun ( ِ and before its disappearance ( ا, as well as from the (first) hours of the night ( ل, and celebrate (the praise of your Lord) at the (Four) extremities of the daylight ( ِ, that you may be content.

Wa Alaikum Salaam brother,
God mentioned specific times for the day. - Agree.
So is al Fajr a specific time? yes - Yes, and also Salaat is mentioned at this time.
Is al Zuhr (or al Zaheerat) a specific time ? yes - Yes, but Salaat is NOT mentioned at this time.
Is 'Asr a specific time? yes - Sorry, don't know, you have to give the reference.
Is al Maghrib a specific time ? yes - Yes, but Salaat is NOT mentioned at this time.
Is al Icha'a a specific time ? yes - Yes, and also Salaat is mentioned at this time.
To all these time frames, God said we have to glorify Him.
Where? And Glorify not Salaat?
When God says in 5039-40 glorify Him describing specific times, and to glorify Him at the end of the prostrations ( ِ it is not a simple du'a but refers to Salawat involving prostrations.

For example
Example 1
4165
4165 Messengers who were bearers of good news and warners, so that there will be no excuse for the people with Allah after the messengers. Allah is Noble, Wise.Do you see the difference brother? Rasool and AlRasool. 'AL' makes a lot of difference.
Example 2
494
494 O you who believe, if you go forth in the cause of Allah, you shall investigate carefully. And do not say to those who greet you with peace You are not a believer! You are seeking the vanity of this world; but with Allah are many riches. That is how you were before, but Allah graced you, so investigate carefully. Allah is expert over what you do.What means that to you brother? What means 'That is how you were before' when someone say 'AlSalaam'?
As the aayat starts with 'O you who believe', they don't say AlSalaam anymore, but 'that is how they were before'.
Then what they say now?654
654 And if those who believe in Our revelations come to you, then say Peace be upon you , our Lord has decreed mercy upon Himself, that any of you who commits sin out of ignorance and then repents afterwards and amends, then He is Forgiving, Merciful.Do you see the difference brother? Al-Salaam and Salaamun? See how specific the words are, Subhan-Allah.
Example 3
1785
1785 And they ask you concerning the Spirit. Say The Spirit is from the authority of my Lord; and the knowledge you were given was but very little.Do you notice the difference between two highlighted parts brother? Question was concerning the Spirit, but knowledge given is in general is very little, it is not specific to the Spirit. Otherwise, it may say '...Wa maa uootitum min al'ilmiHI...' That 'HI' is not added so we have to take concerning the knowledge is in general.
Example 4
3353
3353 O you who believe, do not enter the homes of the prophet unless you are invited to a meal, without you forcing such an invitation. But if you are invited, you may enter. And when you finish eating, you shall leave, without staying to wait for a narrative. This used to bother the prophet, and he was shy to tell you. But Allah does not shy away from the truth. And if you ask his wives for something, ask them from behind a barrier. This is purer for your hearts and their hearts. And it is not for you to harm the messenger of Allah, nor that you should marry his wives after him. This is indeed a gross offence with Allah.Do you see the difference brother about AlNabi and Rasool Allah? The same Aayat talks about two.
This is how Allah explains His aayaats. AlhamduliAllahi Rabbil Aalameen.
And there are several more examples....
May Allah guide us all towards the Truth.
