Survey: How many times do you pray each day?
-
Salam Brother.
Not sure what your definition of "prayer" is, but here are my stats
-Congressional prayer, sunni style - 0/day. (Usually pray Jummah and Eid though)
-Submission + Giving thanks to my sustainer - only 2/day... Alas, I am not a good Muslim....
-Giving thanks+praise only - multiple times dailyI hope God converges me towards the the truth and causes me to become a true moumin.
All praise and thanks are due to God alone. -
I do two times
reason 1 In sourah Israa , it is crystal clear, two time ranges , when the sun touches the horizon until the night start falling, and the other one is the oppsite, in the morning
These two times are the only times that has names , Fajr, and Isha -

Every time my teenage boys do anything teenage boys do, I say "God help me.". So the number of times per day vary. It could even be multiple times in the course of one hour.

U hit the record, U do 15 a day , wow
Nafila as I read in the Quran is only at night , in the same sourah israa
I believe u don't admit 2 salat a day because it"s so difficult for u to do, u don't like salat on 35 to 40 m, twice a day
u prefere 5 times 2 or 3 minutes each and u're done with it , is this the case ? -
Yall know for me it's 5 at the mosque (+2 nafila before each salaat).
Salaam.
Respectfully.Brother, I also think one should pray as many times as possible, more is better, of course, but if praying five times a day plus two extra does not help you move forward and makes you a bad person, then I think/believe that it is not the praying that is doing this, it is your personality, your character.
I Respect you and am not talking here about you.
I know several sunnis here where I live who also pray like you but when it comes to their personality/character, their mentality, it is awful. Don't get me wrong, there are sunnis who have helped me a great deal and there are sunnis who have made threats to end my life. People are different and the same, the beauty of life.Keep up the prayers and please research The Qur'an some more.
You are truly, super welcome to join us on our next and all the following Quranic sessions, if you want.
I think it will be on the December 18th, 2010 between 1330 and 1630, God knows BEST.
If you wanna come, I'll send you the address in the pm, inshaAllah.Peace.

Salaamun all,
The number without an explanation is sufficient.
Salaam and thankyou for your post
P.S. For me it's 5
For me Salaats cannot be done anytime as it is time bounded 4103
Salaats = 2 per day
Juma = once in a week
Duaa = Not time bounded - Many times in a day by Allah's grace
Hamd = Not time bounded - Many times in a day by Allah's grace
May Allah open our hearts to understand the Truth pr

I assume that the question is based on the premise that salat=prayer. If this is so, I reject the premise and therefore cannot answer the question.

Peace,

The "nafila" (voluntary) stuff your doing comes from the Sunnis.
1778 You shall uphold the bond from the setting of the sun until the darkness of the night; and the reading ("quran" at dawn, the reading ("quran" at dawn has been witnessed.
1779 And from the night you can reflect upon it (the quran) voluntarily (nafilatan) for yourself, perhaps your Lord would grant you to a high rank.
7320 Your Lord knows that you rise a little less than two thirds of the night, and half of it, and one third of it, as well as a group of those who are with you. God measures the night and the day. He knows that you will not be able to keep up, so He pardons you. So study what is made easy of the Quran. He knows that there will be sick among you, and others that venture out in the land seeking from God's bounty, and others who are fighting in the cause of God, so study what you can of it. Hold the bond ("salat) and bring forth the betterment and give God a loan of righteousness. Whatever you put forth yourselves, you will find it with God, for it is better and a greater reward. Seek God's forgiveness, for God is Forgiving, Compassionate.
The "nafila" (voluntary) act to be done is, in fact, studying the quran, not a ritual prayer.
According to the quran there are two bonds (salatayn) to be carried out per day - at dawn and in the early evening (see 1778 and 245. -

Nafila is supposed to be done at night , according to this verse, but you said it is not salat, can you explain ?
And god granted abrahaAnd We bestowed upon him Isaac, and Jacob nafilatan. Each of them We made righteous 2172
what is the ressemblabce of the word nafila ? it sounds like it mean extra , after Isaak, Jacob nafilatan
after salats , salat night time nafila -

Nuun-Fa-Lam = give spoil, gift, voluntary gift, accession/addition, something that exceeds the original, a deed beyond what is obligatory. In 1779 and 7320, it clearly states that this voluntary act (NFL) is not a "salat". It is studying the quran, which is very similar to salat.

I agree with you totally that 'Tahajjad' is NOT Salaat.

1779 And from the night you stay awake with it additionally for yourself, perhaps your Lord would grant you a station that is praiseworthy.
732-4 also refers to the same.
which is very similar to salat.
How is this you say brother that it is similar to Salaat?
Do you have any supporting aayat? Please quote me an ayaat.
May Allah guide us all towards the Truth pr
