Layth is the translator, I recommend personal messaging him.

It does seem to have changed online, I dont know why.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

And besides "contact prayer" is a term that was first made by the submitters (started by RK)....and when was Free Minds in agreement to RK's teachings? laugh As far as I know it mocks him.

If you believe Free-Minds mocks the Submitters than Free-Minds is far from upholding quranic precepts.

Dude what I meant was some members on Free Minds. I didn't mean Free Minds in the sense it was based on that or anything, of course not. It's just the majority people I've seen think his theories are ridiculous, at least anything code 19 based. Only a select few here belief in anything he taught that is exclusive to the submitters group.

Anyway I'm back. Does anyone else find it strange it changed up? As far as I know "contact prayer" is in the translation of the Submitters, so how does Free Minds have it (especially when before, it was "bond" like I think it should be) when Free Minds generally speaking is not pro-Submitters?

Either way, I was wondering if someone has the older Free Minds translation. Or is the only change in the new one is the changing of the translation of "Al Salat"?

Bond made perfect sense to me, contact prayer made it sound like a rituel and without the broad sense of the word SALAT, prayer is "duaa" in arabic, and contact is "Rassil" , But Bond is "Sila" , close to salat
to me Bond made perfect sense.

Commitment , for me it fits into ruku' , sujud , sahada , zakat , shaum , hajj as well as the focal point . Salat as a "commitment" clarifies what Islam is about . *My current understanding of Al Salat is ....A commitment to respect and obey the law of Allah to the best of my abilty wherever I am . ( Unless Allah guides me to a better understanding ) . Commitment is the total package for Al Salat .

Yeah, commitement sounds even better than bond, salat is everywhere, and it comes from the word sila, and commitement is more broad, commitement with god, commitement with the believers, comitement with the messenger, sounds more right, we can't say for exemple contact prayer on the prophet, or contact prayer on the believers or god do contact prayer on the sabireen etc ... commitement and bod, both xords sound right

REgarding submitters, doing numbers in order to believe or to help believe is not my thing, but I fully admit and respect that it may be somebody else' thing. If it is so, alhamdalillah. What I find harder are those two ayas, I think that are supressed, and which I find very meaningful.

On the other hand, we have here Edip Yuksel, for one, who uphold the 19argument and who seesm a very sound intellect and a very likeable person. At any rate the gallery of people in free minds, is anything but colourless.

I also benefitted from the subject of the thread, thank you.

                        Salaam

                          Salam,

Thanks for the PM. Was not aware of this thread.

Yes, the wording of "Salat" has been changed to "Contact Prayer".

Yes, this is the same wording used in RK's translation.

Yes, it is meant to coney the meaing of a "ritual".

No, this does not mean that the 19 theory and removing of 2 verses is a factor.

Yes, the wording of "Salat" has been changed to "Contact Prayer".

What is the point in adding "contact" to "prayer" which imports more imbguity than any sort of clarification? The built in perception in the Arabic word gives it a touch of communal activity.

Contact a state or relationship in which communication happens or is possible.

The word "Prayer" has already built in connotation of contact since it means and conveys the perception of an act or practice of making spoken or unspoken addresses to Allah, and for many to a deity or saint.

                                Salam Mazhar,

Because a 'prayer' does not nessesarily connote a ritual, but can be any form of supplication that a person does (the equivalent in Arabic is "dua&quot.

"Contact/Connection/Bond" on its own does not connote a "method/ritual" but rather an adjective and leaves a person guessing.

"Contact-Prayer" is a perfect word for describing an act that is both "methodical" and at the same time a "worship".

                                  Salam Mazhar,

                                  Salam Layeth,

Words of a language have predermined meanings and perceptions which are commonly shared by all or atleast majority. Any compound created afresh by using two words will not take away the meanings and perception individually infolded in each word of the compound. And you admit that it leaves the reader guessing, but majority will discard it on first sight as superfluous thought of someone since it does not subscribe to the basic manners of coining a term.

You feel it as perfect word only because of your already existing understanding of it being a ritual while words do not convey it. I hope I am clear what I intend to say.

Rashad Khalifa seems to have coined it just casually without looking into the "chemistry" of a language.

Thing is, are you telling me "Al-Salat" is actually what the Sunni's and Shiites(sp?) are practicing? A physical ritual that looks quite like bowing in prostration to an object on Earth? If so, a rational thinker would probably think it being fairly identical to the seemingly pagan rituals of the traditional Hajj does a good job in disproving the traditional interpretation of Salat as well, what with the Greek outfit you'd have to wear just to go to see it (look, I'm trying hard not to seem like mocking beliefs, but seriously..).

If this is what Al-Salat really is, then there's no sense in God describing in immaculate detail what we need to do beforehand (the specifics of what traditionalists call "wudu'", and I don't think this word is in the Quran, at least not in the sense traditionalists understand it). Why would God go into specifics on this, and not on the actual "contact prayer", which obviously is more important than washing your face/hands/feet? Where does God give the step-by-step instructions of the prayer (that even the hadith amazingly does not have; that's why in mainstream Islam you need the whole "sunna" as well) that consists of what I mentioned above? He did that well with the washing part. Heck, the messenger (which people are commanded to obey by God) in all of what he's commanded by God to say (which is part of the Quran...a good 272 verses last time I checked) never gave these steps, so we can only assume it's man-made and most likely an adaptation of what corrupted Judaism practices, not only from what it looks like, but the fact a good load of Jewish bs (that Jews for the most part don't currently follow; good for them) has been part of mainstream Islam for hundreds of years, and is currently practiced by muslims more than anyone else.

Now I'm just throwing this out there, but I think the "wudu'" may actually be the "salat" God talks about. Silly as this may sound, but I think in the verse it says what to do WHEN/WHILE you're performing the salat, so it's probably God's given details on what the salat actually is, what God has sanctioned as the real ritual for us to bond with him. This is kind of a cloudy thought though since I've not personally studied that verse at all recently, or reading Quran much, since I'm first trying to understand how "contact prayer" is in the message translation. I thought the translation went off (was based on) the majority consensus of the Monotheist Group? Not based on one or a few people's opinions (including the translator)?

That, or it's simply having a good relationship with God by following the rules contained within the Quran, or something far different than the traditional interpretation.
