    Hast thou not seen how thy Lord dealt with the owners of the Elephant? (1) Did He not bring their stratagem to naught, (2) And send against them swarms of flying creatures, (3) Which pelted them with stones of baked clay, (4) And made them like green crops devoured (by cattle)? (5) Sourah 105

    A ra'ayta , sounds like the vision in 535-9 and 5313-18 , I know there is a hadith about people who wanted to destroy the kaaba, but the sourah starts with ' Have u seen' sounds like the prophet seen this event, so is it a vision that was distorted by hadiths?
    when i read it, the elephants sound like the tank, and the birds throwing stones of fire sounds like F16 throwing missiles on Tanks

    Is there an explanation to this sourah, not from hadiths ? can someone explain it without hadiths.

      It starts with an interrogative particle, followed by Negative Jussive Particle which renders the following imperect verb in Jussive Mood and changes the meanings into a negative past tense with emphasis; and "tara" is Imperfect verb, second person; singular; masculine; jussive mood.

      "Have you not yet given a thought-visualized".

      And it is again followed by Interrogative noun. "as to how your Sustainer Lord innovatively did with "the People of Elephant?"

        I see it or get the idea such as Mazhar says. Something like when somebody asks Didn't you see how the huns did so and so in Europe? Nobody live has seen it, but we all have heard about it. (The hungarians, of course, desagree strongly, may be with good reason)

          Peace all,

          Is it possible that "People of the elephant" is the people who were using an elephant as symbol e.g. people of Petra!!!

          please see new findings

          http//www.brown.edu/Departments/Joukowsky_Institute/Petra/elephant.html

          for the "volatile", here is another explanation
          please see http//www.volcano.si.edu/world/volcano.cfm?vnum=0301-02=&volpage=photos&photo=104063

          Peace

            InshaAllah, I will try.

            'Tara', 'yara', 'ra-aa' means something you SEE with research

            'Nazar' means view

            'Basar' means to look at it carefully

            Anyhow this is my personal understanding. The great usage of all three words can be found in a single aayat as follows

            7198

            7198 And when you invite them to the guidance, they do not listen. And you see them looking at you, while they do not see.

            And the understand of the word 'TARA' can be found in 2130

            2130

            2130 Have those who rejected not seen that the heavens and the earth were one piece, so We split them apart? And that We have made from the water everything that lives. Will they not believe?

            Yes! the NON-BELIEVERS saw it by research.

            May Allah guide us all towards the Truth pr

              Dear M. Khan,
              How come you can claim that the Big Bang theory(!) was predicted in the Qur'an, while clearly the relevant ayah is very ambiguous at best. Furthermore, our understanding of the universe could change, so this is a very dangerous argument from a Muslim point of view.
              Concerning the Elephant Surah,- traditional Muslims believe that a few year prior to the birth of Muhammed, Abraha and his army of elephant wanted to destroy Ka'ba, but Allah miraculously destroyed those elpehant by birds(abaabeel) who dropped stones on them. Although the details aren't in this sura, this point should be evident.

                Grand Qur'aan rather negates presence of any "Big Bang" at the time of Universe coming into being. The "Big Bang" will be heard when it will be dismantled.

                  Alam Tara Kaifa Faala Rabuka Bi As'hab ElFeel

                  ElFeel isn't Elephant at all

                  ex

                  When the night (JANNA) covered him, he saw a planet, and he said This is my Lord. But when it disappeared he said I do not like (AFELEEN) those who disappear. 676

                  the words that end with (FELEEN) are all of Negatif kind , Like Ghafeleen , Asfeleen

                  ElFeel = kind of Afeleen , Evil ones , therefore ElFeel = EVIL
                  as'hab alfeel = people of Evil

                  My translation according to my understanding

                  Didn't you see what your lord Did to the people of Evil

                  2nd verse

                  didn't he made their scheme in miscalculation

                  3rd verse

                  here is the difficult one to explain
                  Arssal = Sent
                  Alayhim = On them/over them
                  Tayr = Throws / shots
                  Ababeel = barrels

                  4th verse

                  hitting them with Rockets os sulfur.

                  Tarmihim = throwing
                  Bi Hijarat = with rockets
                  Hajar = a Rock , Alhajar is pluriel for rocks, Hijara = Rockets
                  Min Sijeel = from Sulfur

                  It sounds like a balls of Cannon were shot at them in a war,

                  5th verse

                  therefore they became like a chewed food.

                  This surah has nothing to do with flying birds, nor stones from hell, it is describing a war, just like modern wars

                  AlFEEL = EVIL

                  I can't believe no one can realise that the hadiths and TABRY were all written in the 18 , 19 century.

                    Brother two simple questions for you, can you please answer them for me, thanks.

                    the words that end with (FELEEN) are all of Negatif kind , Like Ghafeleen , Asfeleen
                    ElFeel = kind of Afeleen , Evil ones , therefore ElFeel = EVIL

                    Can you please translate 676 above with the correct meaning of AlFeel?

                    I can't believe no one can realise that the hadiths and TABRY were all written in the 18 , 19 century.

                    Can you I dare asking you where are you getting all those meanings that you are translating from?

                    May Allah guide us all to His correct path pr

                      ElFeel isn't Elephant at all

                      Then what is the word for elephant in Arabic or Hebrew which are both Semitic, difference there's no "p" in the Arabic so f?' was used or cite ?feel? in literature to mean other than elephant?

                      Arabic feel fa ya lam
                      Hebrew peel "pyl" pe yod lamed

                      It's a borrowed word from Persian; read the history of chess

                      http//www.chesscentral.com/Chess_Set_History_a/182.htm

                      http//www.chessvariants.org/piececlopedia.dir/alfil.html

                      "As Murray reports in his Short History of Chess, the game hardly changed when the Muslims got it from the Persians. So the Persian pil lept two spaces diagonally. Murray reports in the same book that the Muslims merely modified the name of the piece to suit their own pronunciation, changing the p to an f for the word fil, which became the piece's Arab name. This got prefixed with the Arabic definite article, al, to form the name Alfil.

                      When the names of fil and alfil reached Europe, they sometimes changed even more, but the transformed names eventually became associated with the Bishop. Although the name of Alfil is still used for the Bishop in some languages, such as Spanish, English-speakers began the tradition of reserving the name Alfil for the original piece."

                        if you feel PIL is proginal name of Elephant, than what about IBIL ? what make you think that it's a camel ? how come Camel is called JAMAL in the quran, what about Naqua ? is it a femele camel or just another fabrication of dictionaries to get muslims ashtray ?

                        if Elephant is Pil , than Ibil is closer that AlFeel
                        AlFeel = Evil , I am conviced , and specially, I see people don't trust hadiths because they were written by corrupted people, and they trust dictiannaries , all of them written in beyrouth, by christians , and go see channel AlHayat, and see the hatred against Islam.

                        logic say Alfeel , is the same as Afeleen, EVIL ONES
