We are certainly not equal in rank with them.

Allah, the Exalted has classified the Believers of Mohammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam and the Grand Qur'aan in two groups. The classification is with reference to the Event of the Conquest of the Sanctified City of Mecca. The Believers, men and women, of the period immediately before this Event are the First Group and are declared as the great over all others, the other Group, who became or become believers after that Event. This greatness is with reference to their elevated Rank and position over all other believers of Mohammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam and the Grand Qur'aan, in time and space.
Irrespective of the time and space, the human Messenger of Allah is the person who is elevated in rank and status above all humanity-peoples of his past and future time and space. Believing in the Messengers of Allah, the Exalted, is the cardinal condition for all people irrespective of time and space of their existence, to earn eligibility to enter the Paradise.
The Guide Lord of humanity, Mohammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam is the Last Messenger of Allah. The absolute fact is that NO one will ever be elevated to a status even equal to the rank and position of his those follower Muslims who believed in him and spent for the cause of Allah and fought in time-line before the Victory of Mecca. This is the verdict and pronouncement by Allah, the Exalted, in vivid words in 5710
No person till the Last Day will be equal to the Companions of the Messenger Muhammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam who spent and participated in war before the event of the victory of Mecca-therefore all claimants of nabi and messenger are liars, imposters and cheaters and are cursed and condemned notwithstanding large following through deception.]

Salaam Dear Mazhar,
How do you explain/interpret the following verses from chapter 56, mainly verse 14?

57-10 Why do you not spend in the cause of God, when God possesses all wealth in the heavens and the earth? Distinguished from the rest are those among you who spent before the victory and fought. They attain a greater rank than those who spend after the victory and fight. For each, God promises goodness. God is Expert in everything you do
Brother i cant see any Mecca here.

"Man" Relative Pronoun, nominative state- is the Subject of preceding verb, and the relational linkage clause defines and specifies him.
Any such person does not and will never equal/equate with any one from amongst you, the living people, who had spent before the event of the Conquest and/or anyone who had confronted war.

This is about a particular event and group of people, not eternal exaltation of one group of people, over all others.

KhalilSalam Khalil,
I hope you have noticed the difference between the words which denote the classification from another angle of entire time line. Thanks, you have indicated it, I will add this as sub-topic, Allah willing.
Event is The Conquest of Mecca.
-
Before arriving at this conclusion, have you given a thought to the negation with the use of prepositional phrase "Minkum"?
Lol, it's common sense.

And that is lacking in the observation, earlier quoted.
I am reading this verse, I am not seeing anything reason to link these people to what you call "Muhammeds companions."
First of all I reject the term, and believe Mohammed acted on his own, purely doing gods will, without "companions". I don't believe in any semi-romantic relationship between Mohammed and other men. He gave orders at a purely platonic level. I don't believe in any idolization or hero-worship of Mohammed, except by the deviant. God Alone is what is to be worshipped (loved/praised). People who believe in this deviant love for Mohammed, and the companions, are astray.
To believe that a group of believers are exalted above another group of believers, for eternity, is absurd. This means the modern day gnostic, which has the highest knowledge, is suppsedly lower in rank, than a simple believer, who has no such insight. You, Mazhar, do not understand The Quran.
It's easier to embrace a teaching, after a victory in it's favour than after. Therefore the believers before the victory, talking about locally, are exalted, over those after. LOCALLY. This is not world-wide. A gnostic at the same period in say, Africa, will still have a higher level of exaltation than say, these believers, who have no such knowledge. A man of high rank, is still a man of high rank, everywhere in the world, regardless of this verse.I think you shouldn't worry too much about it, who is exalted and not. EXALTATION IS WITH GOD ALONE. It doesn't matter what you claim, but it only matters what position GOD has put you in.
And I suggest you stop being an obnoxious think-you-know something, because that will surely de-exalt you. Offensive idiots, aren't in high position.

Mazhar , salam
I would modify the quoted comment by paradox,
" You understand Quran in the light of Hadith stories and hence make "GROSS additions" from your own side in the translations that you create"
Thats not Good, brother.

What's even more gross, is that by his argument, companions, correctly or falsely doing or saying offensive things, in hadith, are exalted above later believers, no matter what. If that is not shaytan-cultivation.
So the next time a "companion" pisses or shits in hadith, he is your superior.

It seems a coverage story. The Arabic text is there and analysed word by word. If you could find some other meanings you are welcome to narrate those. "I think" sort of things are but rubbish.
-
Lol, apparently analysing things to bits, isn't helping you. Actually I see that, atleast with some frequency, on this forum.
"Fill your heart with the love for Mohammed and the companions". Is what I heard on a sunni-forum.
I argued that one should worship God alone. And I was banned.Your argument seems to go in the direction that Mohammed and "his companions", or should one use a better phrase, early followers of the Quran, are somehow to be imitated, because they were superior. Just like the idolater, who wants to be like his popstar. He dresses like him, he talks like him. And the stranger would also eat with one hand, if idol did so, or even urinate or even more offensive things, as his idol.
The concept of learning to think, is not present here. If you cannot think, how can you know where transgression lies? And this is exactly the idolaters problem, he transgresses if his idol does so.
And if the hadith text depicts a deviant person, we are supposedly do "fill our hearts with love" for them? Can you not see the deviance? Tell me, what kind of people writes down texts, about a holy person like Mohammed, that contains, offensive content? Do you not know when you transgress? And this is why I say, you do not understand the Quran. The Quran read many times, and followed, can only be seen as a way of trying to inspire and learn about natural boundaries, one does not cross. Indeed, when you read about the transgressors of the Quran, who are they to you? Do you even understand the concept? Are are you just sitting there like a furnace loving "Mohammed & companions", thinking that earns you paradise, or has something to do with Islam?I could say many things about this, but I'll leave it with what comes first to mind.
Peace.

It is an irrelevant talk, reflective of an agitated and scattered mind. Every person lives in time frame and obviously has the company of other people. And the people in someone's company or in the same time-frame and space are called and referred by the word "companions".
Allah, the Exalted has declared in simple words that the believers of the time before occurrence of certain event are greater than the believers in time-line after that event. This is the recognition and appreciation by Allah, the Exalted for those persons. Iblees is he who does not accept the verdict and judgment of Allah, the Exalted.
We are certainly not equal in rank with them.
