Such a statement appears in a video uploaded to YouTube by www.casaislamica.com. I searched the Qur'an, but there is no such prohibition. So on what basis they to say such a thing? I imagine that in a hadith or Sunnah.

          Oh in Spanish!
          No Entiendo Espanol..

There's no basis for that of course.. purely conjecture .. given the 'adzan' is also a 'music' AND the sunnis (or shiites) love to 'sing' the Quran too...

Furthermore.. Satan worshipers loves potato, fried chicken and hawaii beaches too...
Using the same (fallacious) logic.. Why not ban all of that as well..

          Salam / Peace

Peace be on all of you,

This reminds me of year 2006 i guess, the first time i read in a hadith book that as a guitarist, I am follower of Satan. As a young person, very much emotionally unstable, it felt as if the most just of all that is just, the most high , the lord of mercy just stabbed me a billion times. I even told my friend who wanted me to play a solo in his acoustic song, that I need some time to rethink what ever it is that I am doing. I made the mistakes of reading those hadiths and asking people about it (may Allah forgive me). I completely abandoned the Qur'an in this matter, I never bothered to read it. But luckily, Allah guides whom he wants, from 2007 onwards, my study of religions of the world opened my eyes. Turned me to skeptic agnostic, followed by skeptic Believer.

I have debated so much with people over this single issue (specially because my fellow muslims just cant understand how i can study Qur'an , pray to Allah yet be a guitarist). Whenever I feel tired of repeating whatever i tell them, I simply tell them to follow the Qur'an which tells not to forbid people which Allah has not forbidden them, that makes you anti-Allah doesnt it ??

                  May Allah guide us all

You are right. No where in the Quran does it say that Music is forbidden. Those who say otherwise follow only conjecture.

Sura 6116 If you obey the majority of those on earth they will lead you away from God's path; that is because they follow conjecture, and that is because they only guess.

The hadith?s are the books for disbelievers. These books have 10 times more contradictions than the Bible itself. I do not know how they can win an argument with those who follow the Bible if they themselves follow books that are filled with contradictions and that were written many years after Muhammad's death. Even if they were authentic word?s of Prophet Muhammad God clearly says in the Quran over and over again that the messenger is only charged with delivering the message (The Quran).

Sura 599 The only duty of the messenger is to deliver. God knows what you reveal and what you conceal.

God?s word supersedes all other laws. Those who don?t believe this have committed idol worship and are not guided.

                      Salam KDC501,

I believe that the way these scholars win arguments with the christians is by debating with them using the Qur'an and boasting about how in comparison Bible is nothing infront of Qur'an. How many times have you seen people like Zakir naik and ahmed deedat debate the christians using hadiths ??? lol

David was a musician too. http//www.islamawakened.com/quran/34/10/
While the art of worship music, may be lost, due to incomprehensible bans, in Islam, the christians sometimes evoke the passion of that verse.

If scholars like Dr.Zakir Nair did debate with the Quran and Hadith (which is part of there religion as well) they will lose every debate. The Christians who debate using the bible are not aware of this. If they were, then Dr.Zaik Nair will cry after every debate. '(

If Islamic scholars who follow the Hadith want to judge the Christians and the Jews by there books isn't it fair that they (the people of the Book) should judge them by there's? Isn't it amazing that these scholars are so obsessed with using the contradictions in the Bible as a means to win a debate that they forgot what they themselves follow and believe? rotfl

Then why is the Quran sung? Why does it often rhyme?

The only way to read this book is to read beyond the obvious.
The idea that we need any book to see what is already written in the heart is nothing but an arena for politics and inter-faith espionage.
