Does anyone know of a write-up or book regarding this topic?

    Salaam Brother.

In this book, the term Kitaab is explained in detail.

      1037

1037 This Quran could not have been produced without Allah; it is to authenticate what is between his hands, and details AlKitaab in which there is no doubt, from the Lord of the worlds.

"Mind it that, this Qur'aan is not such a book that someone, other than Allah, the Exalted, might have compiled/authored it. The fact of the matter is that this Qur'aan is rather the affirmation/authentication of the One Book sent before it.
      http//www.haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/010.%20Yunus%20alahissalam/Temp%2001%2010.37b.gif

Moreover, the organization/differentiation/delineation/arrangement of the Book has been by the command of the Sustainer Lord of the Universes-all that exists. The state of the contents of the Book is that within it there is absolutely no suspicious/conjectural/whimsical/conflicting/un-certain/illusory/perplexing/disconcerting matter, causing distraught emotional uncertain states/psychological disturbance.

Word by Word Analysis of 1037

In this day and age, the polytheists are ruling the world. They are the ones who are starting wars, contributing to poverty, and are polluting the earth. But if the monotheists ruled the world, there would be peace, justice and prosperity. And there would be no poverty, no pollution, and no wars.

        Peacemaker,

According to you, who is a polytheist and who is a monotheist? are you referring to some country or religion? Which monotheist country is peacefull?

          Salam,

Thanks Peacemaker. However, I'm still not clear what the verse is saying, because the structure suggests the object is one thing, not two.

41/3 A Book, its signs are detailed , a quran flawless/arabic for a people who know.

"A kitab" is being described as a "quran". Which kitab is this? As pointed out by Wakas and mmkhan, this isn't The Kitab, so it must be a different kitab. Bro mmkhan suggested it might be referring to the quran in book form.

Why couldn't 'a kitab' be referring to al quran? I also think this provides further credence to the theory that The Quran was written down as it was being "revealed", thus already in book form. Contextually, It must be referring to The quran, e.g. 416

Some brief notes regarding al kitab

            Salam, Jack,

            From quoted thread

            It's interesting to note
-That Al kitab is never plural, not once.
-There's no 'hadha al kitab' 'this al kitab '.
-There IS 'hadha kitab' i.e. this book. -There is 'hadha al hadeeth' i.e. this hadeeth. But no 'hadha hadeeth'.
-1037, Al quran details Al kitab. Al quran details itself?!

Al kitab involves the workings of the universes and depending on context human nature/ our 'record'.

            For read pl see 1049

Blue is also incorrect, since the word Book is definite with possessive phrase in 4529.

The confusion will be over if we read about the definite article "al" and its usage.

Can you please clarify why you quoted 1049? I did not find anything related in it.

And in blue part above, he said

"-There IS 'hadha kitab' i.e. this book. -There is 'hadha al hadeeth' i.e. this hadeeth. But no 'hadha hadeeth'."

You will find "Kitaab" with the word "Haadha or haaza" but you will not find "AlKitaab" with "Haadha" and similarly with hadeeth, you may find "AlHadeeth" with the word "Haadha" but there is no "Hadeeth" with "Haadha". So, what is in 4529, he said the same thing.

BTW, "Haadha AlKitaab" is used only once in AlQuraan, but that is about hereafter 1849

Pl read your own post, answer is therein.

"Haadha kitab" and "Haadha Kitabuna" are two different things. One is indefinite while the other is definite denoting Alkitab.

Thanks for the link. I agree and think this verse is talking about the quran but what threw me was the missing 'al'.

I know I ask this a lot, but did you ever expand on what you said in that link. Like a write-up? D

haha I expanded it on a bit more here http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=16378.0 (not to feed the trolls and such)

In short, al kitab to me refers to one of two things, depending on context a) 'the book'; the divine writ; or in pragmatic means, great knowledge of the universe, a maester of sorts or
                    b) 'the record'

OT I know I ask this a lot, but when can we expect your (a)theist theorem? Chop, chop, my son.

"Ahlil ketatb" is different that "Al Kitaab".

I haven't studied the term Al-Muttaqeen. But yes, it seems like Al-Muttaqeen are the specialists, scientists etc.

Regarding the term Al-Muttaqeen (in the context of other words used in Quran like Taqwa, Ittaqu, Atqaqum, etc), isn't it referring to the people who practice Taqwa in their life to achieve the status of Al-Muttaqeen? Should we not refer to the literal arabic translation of Taqwa, Muttaqeen, etc to find out that Al-Kitab is guidance (Hidaya) for those who practice Taqwa?
