    peace mmkhan,

Ahh so corrections without discussion. Interesting idea.

To clarify your original post moderators are not directly involved in the free-minds Quran translation, only Layth edits it afaik.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

        Salaaman brother Layth,

Please correct the aayat numbers in chapter 11 in English translation of AlQuraan.

1124 The example of the two groups is like the blind and deaf, and the seer and hearer. Are they the same when compared? Do you not take heed?

1125 And We had sent Noah to his people I am to you a clear warner!1126 That you serve none except God. I fear for you the retribution of a painful day.

1126 has to be next aayat.

And this is aayat 1127 not 1126

1126 The leaders who rejected from among his people said We do not see you except as a human being like us, and we see that only the lowest among our people who have no opinion have followed you. And we do not see a thing that makes you better than us; in fact, we think you are liars.

From here it effects the aayat numbers till the end of sura.

              Salaam Layth,

              Salam,
              I have made both changes - 4171 and 1126.

Thanks brother, and please take a look at the following and if you feel it changing, please do it.

              4130
4130 Those who have said Our Lord is God, then they did right, the angels will come down upon them You shall not fear, nor shall you grieve. Rejoice in the good news of the Paradise that you have been promised.

Instead of "then they did right", I feel it should be "then they remained" on what they said, i.e., "Our Lord is Allah".

May Allah guide us all to His path pr

                Salaaman Layth,

Brother, I found two different translations of very similar aayaats, If you would like to change, please follow.

                5223
5223 They will enjoy drinks in which there is no harm, nor regret.

                5625
5625 They never hear any nonsense therein, nor sinful utterances.

                        salaam,

I think 12 and 81 have the same constuction, but they are translated differently

                        12
FM translation 12 Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds.

                        81
FM translation 81 They ask you regarding the spoils of war, say "The spoils of war are for God and the messenger." So be aware of God, and be upright in matters between you; and obey God and His messenger if you are believers.

I think the better translation for 12 is The praise ...

                          Peace,

Something tells me verse 244 is translated the wrong way. It is translated as this

And those who accuse the independent females, then they do not bring forth four witnesses, you shall lash them with eighty lashes, and do not accept their testimony ever; and those are the wicked.

I think it is wrong, because this verse actually is telling something about "yarmuna", which means throwing. So I think it is not talking about those who accuse, but those who throw away or drive away their women out their houses.

You can also see that back in verse 651 where God says not to drive them away from their houses, except when they come with something clearly evil

O you prophet, if any of you have divorced the women, then they should be divorced while ensuring that their required interim is fulfilled, and keep count of the interim. You shall reverence God your Lord, and do not evict them from their homes, nor should they leave, unless they commit an evident lewdness. And these are the boundaries of God. And anyone who transgresses the boundaries of God has wronged his soul. You never know; perhaps God will make something come out of this.

O Prophet! When ye do divorce women, divorce them at their prescribed periods, and count (accurately), their prescribed periods And fear Allah your Lord and turn them not out of their houses, nor shall they (themselves) leave, except in case they are guilty of some open lewdness, those are limits set by Allah and any who transgresses the limits of Allah, does verily wrong his (own) soul thou knowest not if perchance Allah will bring about thereafter some new situation.

O Prophet! when you divorce women, divorce them for~ their prescribed time, and calculate the number of the days prescribed, and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, your Lord. Do not drive them out of their houses, nor should they themselves go forth, unless they commit an open indecency; and these are the limits of Allah, and whoever goes beyond the limits of Allah, he indeed does injustice to his own soul. You do not know that Allah may after that bring about reunion.

I know that not the same words are used but they can both be something of the same context.

                          Peace

Salam, just wondering if u guys translated 1671 correct?
"And God has preferred some of you over others in provision. So it is not for those who have been preferred to relinquish there provision to those who are maintained by their oaths...."

Other translations make it clear that people are denying the Favour of God wen they do not give provisions, but your translation makes it seem the opposite. Below is an example how different it sounds from another translator ...

"And Allah hath favored some of you above others in provision. Now those who are more favored will by no means hand over their provision to those (slaves) whom their right hands possess, so that they may be equal with them in respect thereof. Is it then the grace of Allah that they deny?"

And 1242 is translated wrong. You guys wrote "He" instead of "he"
"...But the devil made him forget to mention to his Lord, so He remained in prison for a few years."

I noticed in the English translation the chapters are numbered as against the traditional text that has names. Although you explained that the chapters in the original text were not named and that names were added probably for reference purposes (which is a noble objective), I would like to suggest chapter names be retained/reintroduced instead of the numbers as people are more familiar with the former.

Secondly, since the monotheist translation is only in English and not side by side with the Arabic text as in Yusuf Ali for example, it becomes difficult for readers who are not Arabic speaking to know exactly which Sura they are reading without having a copy of the Arabic text nearby. In view of that I think you should consider inserting the transliteration of the names of the various suras in place of the numbers.

                                May Allah help us.

In the two places in the Quran where it goes against the semi-Christian belief in three gods, you have mistakenly kept the translation of the simple word for the number three as being 'Trinity'

4171 O people of the Book, do not overstep in your system, nor say about God except the truth. Jesus, son of Mary, was no more than a messenger of God and the fulfillment of His word to Mary and a Spirit from Him. So believe in God and His messengers, and do not say "Trinity." ...

573 Rejecters indeed are those who have said "God is a trinity!" ...

I have discussed that there were indeed tri-theists around at the time of Muhammad, which is why the word Trinity does not appear in the Quran, but only three and 'third of three'. Had Allah wanted to refer to the mainstream Christian doctrine of the Trinity, He would have done (along with a direct reference to the Holy Spirit in the trinitarian formula!).

                                  Tri-theists mentioned here
                                  http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9605042.0

Additionally, in 4171 "and the fulfillment of His word to Mary" is another example of not letting go of later Islamic thought. The word 'fulfillment' is not present in the Quran, the phrase should read

                                  (417120)
                                  wakalimatuhu

                                  (417121)
                                  alqh
                                  which He conveyed

                                  (417122)
                                  il
                                  to

                                  (417123)

                                      Salaam admins,

Please take a look at the translation of 2221 and make necessary corrections or amendments.

If you look at the Arabic words, both words are not same. One is tAnkihoo and other is tUnkihoo, so there must be a difference. The FM translation does not show any difference. Please take a look at other translations which shows the difference.

                                      • tAnkihoo = Do not marry.
                                      • tUnkihoo = Do not give in marriage.

This change is suggested by brother Abdul-Hadi, which can be seen here.

                                      Thanks.
                                      May Allah bless you pr

                                        Salaam admins,

Please take a look at the translation of 2221 and make necessary corrections or amendments.

If you look at the Arabic words, both words are not same. One is tAnkihoo and other is tUnkihoo, so there must be a difference. The FM translation does not show any difference. Please take a look at other translations which shows the difference.

                                        • tAnkihoo = Do not marry.
                                        • tUnkihoo = Do not give in marriage.

This change is suggested by brother Abdul-Hadi, which can be seen here.

                                        Thanks.
