Why "Quran alone"?

Salamu alaikum .. Peace be upon you

I am new to this forum, although I used to be a member of the old Rope-mailinglist.
I have looked through the discussions here and although very enlightening and sometimes even thoughtprovoking I can't help but feel that this is turning to be some kind of sect when constantly using the term "Quran alone" everywhere. Why not just call urselfs muslims following Islam instead of "quran aloner" and "quran alone". Doing this you only fall into the trap that sunnis and shias already have, i.e making a distinction of themselves by names.
We are all here for one reason only, to learn as much as possible about Islam the way God/Allah wanted us and to follow The Path as righteous muslims! Why choose other names for ourselves when He has already given us the perfect one?
