I have a big problem...
-
Salaam,
Ok, my problem is praying on time noon and asr prayers. Sometimes maghrib too. But mostly the noon and asr. This is usually due to work. I find myself a lot of times making up prayers. According to hadiths this is allowed to some degree. The Noble Qur'an, at least what I remember, does not mention making up prayers.
What do I do? & This is really making me fear the worst. I live in the U.S. and people are getting fired for praying at work (Muslims). I cannot afford to get fired. What would you advise me to do? Does anyone else struggle with this?

I only know of three daily prayers and not five. However I am not going to go into debate with you on this topic since that wasn't your question. The answer to your question is simple - if you are in a state of worry ( chances of losing your job is what I call a state of worry) then pray in solitude area eg. In your car, a deserted room, or a washroom .
2239 But if you are in a state of worry, then you may do so while walking or riding. If you become secure, then remember God as He has taught you what you did not know.
In cases like these you don't need to do ablution nor any ritualistic stances or prostrations. You can pray while sitting down, walking , driving etc. God's religion is easy and is not meant to place hardship on his servants.
Peace,
Kevin.

Thank you. The ayat 2239 makes me hope. I always have hope. But, I cannot but worry. Regardless of what I do, or if I make a mistake or if I commit a sin, I will always have hope. That is what keeps me going... if I did not have hope that Allah SWT will guide me and help me, then I would feel totally lost. Totally...

Praying is for you Amica, not you for praying.
God will never be angry when you're not 'worshiping Him properly'.It's your deed / action and what's in your heart that count...
And you can pray in any ways that convenient for you..
If praying become a 'ritualized mechanical obligation' for you then I believe you've lost the 'spirit' of praying in the first place.Salam / Peace

Missed Contact Prayers answer form the Quran

Prayer in the Quran, is not neccesarily a religous ritual. The angels in heaven pray for those on earth. The birds know their prayer. Some stand in prayer all night. The ritual prayer in the Quran, is three times pr. day. However even then the Quran says, if you WONDER WHAT to pray, you have the seven oft repeated verses. (and ofcourse that doesn`t mean repetitions pr time).
So prayer is intuitive. Many want to have a ritualized prayer, and feel that 3 times pr day is sufficient. Therefore it probably is so. I don`t think anything in the Quran is meant to be in conflict with human nautre. Only by poor interpretation it is so.
And if you pray three times pr. day it should not conflict with your job. Morning, dinner, night. And I don`t believe that neccesarily has something to do with prostration either. That was probably something that came intuitively to some, for instance, those who bow and prostrate in the kaba. Some bowed, some prostrated. If you can "stand" in the night and pray, standing is fine aswell.
And then ofcourse you have that reading the Quran, equates prayer, and both is for the rememberance of God.
And then you have the concepts of lying on ones sides, etc remembering God, and so forth.
So any form you do this in, as long as it isn`t offensive should do. For instance, there is nothing wrong with folding your hands, and bowing your head, like christians do, when you pray. The esoteric inteprets that of remembering god, even further, so that he drops prayers entirely and just focuses on God, the qualities of God, and remembers God throughout the day, as a form of meditation. (This is what I do.)
Peace.

You must have a pretty messed up head if you cannot remember God enough during the day if you do not pray. Everything is related to every other thing. I'll come to remember God somehow even if I see something like.. a sponge.

@Kalokenred,
Is it really necessary or even righteous to suggest that someone has a messed up head?
Peace,
Dawn.
