I am searching the etymology of the word millat as in Quran millat e Ibrahim and the difference of meaning with the word 'Deen" as in DEEN Islam.

MansoorMillah in ancient semitic language including Hebrew and Aramaic means 'commands/commandment' , 'matter' (of discourse), words, teaching.
While Diyn in ancient semitic language including Hebrew and Aramaic means 'judgement', 'opinion', 'attitude'.
"Deen Al-Islam" mean Surrendered To God's Judgement. (Whatever will be will be, God knows what's best for me)
This is the 'common attitude/character' shown by all of the God's prophet and messengers as shown in the Tanakh, Gospel and Quran.
For example
"Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."

Millat is the singular for Mawali- 5 -

To all we made kins for what left the heirs and kin...
it has the meaning of FAMILY , KIN, KIND etc... To me the closest is Militant or Party when it is global, as followers, like in the case of Ibraheem
asFor deen , it means there are two words in the quran , DAYN when it comes to owing something , wich translated DUE , and when it comes to an obligation of life, it is DUTY
to me
Milata = Militants

They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it.
The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see MILLAH is gone from me.But if ye will not make known unto me the dream one decree for you for ye have prepared lying and corrupt MILLAH to speak before me, till the time be changed therefore tell me the dream and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation
The Chaldeans answered before the king and said , There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's MILLAH therefore no king lord nor ruler asked such MILLAH at any magician or astrologer or Chaldean.
Dyn in Hebrew Scriptures
Daniel 710
A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him DYN was set, and the books were opened.Daniel 721-28
I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
Until the Ancient of days came, and DYN was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
But the DYN shall stand, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.
And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me but I kept the matter in my heart.
-- quotation end --Another form of DYN which is DAYN in Hebrew and Aramaic means "The Judge" or "Those who passes Judgement".
The meanings of infamous Israeli general name; "Moshe DAYAN" is actually "Moses (Is) The Judge".In (current common) arabic dialect it's the same as Musa Al-Hakeem, although 'Hakeem' actually mean 'wise'. As it was usually 'wise' people who passes judgment according to the 'hukm' (Wisdom/Law).
Just some 'food for your thought'..
I tend to agree with somebody (whom I forgotten the name) which hypothesized that the arabic dialect being used in Quran is more of 'northern arabic' and very very close to Aramaic. Because some words makes more sense if it's being deciphered / interpreted as aramaic.

Both these words have no relationship with each other. They emanate from different Roots.
