    Peace Everyone peace group
(This topic is a refutation against the misconception that verse 597, means that Hadith/Sunnah (Sayings/Traditions) of the Prophet Muhammad are to be taken as codified Laws besides the Quran)

What the Prophet Gives you take it! Well what did the prophet Muhammed give us?
Some advocators of Hadith & Sunnah (Sayings/tradition) use the verse of 597 as to mean that the Hadith/Sunna allegedly attributed to the Prophet Muhammed should also be followed, that is, alongside the Quran. This theology can be kindly refuted in the light of the Quran as follows,

There is a concept in the Quran, that i shall call "Governor verses"
I will cite here an off-topic example, but you'll see how it connects.
There is the famous verse, "...kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush...." (95)
Now if people take this verse Alone, people might turn into murderous fanatics! However, We also read in another verse that,
"Fight in the cause of God against those who attack you, but do not aggress. GOD does not love the aggressors (2190)

***Thus By this meaning, we just cannot go out and fight against anyone; Only those who fight us should we fight (i.e we should always be on the Defensive side, not on the Aggressive). This is what i mean by a "Governor verses", because in order for us to kill the polytheists (95), they have to first strike us First (2190). Thus, by this notion you see here, one verse has to Govern another verse, in order for the verse "governed" to be valid. This Also means that the Verse governed by the "Governor Verse", cannot be taken alone, because it can actually go against the "Governor verse", as seen in this previous example.

The same concept is applied to verse 597 and the "What the Prophet Gives you take it, and what he has refrained you from, refrain from it".
Now, the Question is, what was given to the prophet Muhammed?
    202 specifically states that what was descended upon the prophet was the QURAN. In other numerous verses, it also Mentions the Quran Alone, (4105. 299, 548, 692, 6155, 1094, 122, 1338, 141, 1664, 17105, 20113, 2216, 2434, 2947-48, 3829, 392, 3941, 443, 585, 648, 971)
    (See http//tanzil.net/#search/quran/&#1575
Moreover in another verse, the Prophet Muhammed was commanded to say that he Only follows what was revealed to him (i.e he only follows the Quran, Alone 7203-- as it was was Specifically what was revealed to him (202)
Again, if the Prophet Muhammed was given the Quran (202), ordered to follow the Quran, and had no other guidance besides the Quran (3450), then all that he had to give was the Quran itself (567). If he had fabricated anything and attributed it to God, God almighty would have silenced him with death (6944).

The Quran is not missing anything (63,and is sufficiently Detailed (as per 1712, 752, 697-98,126), and so people cannot expect to go outside of it (e.g look into other things as Hadiths/Sunnah), in order to find what's in it. God Almighty States that there are precise verses which are the foundation of the Quran, as well as other not so Precise verses (37). Also, God Almighty Assures us that NO ONE knows the Exact meaning of the Quran, except He Himself (the author) (37), and so, the argument that we need to look into the Hadith/Sunnah allegedly attributed to the Prophet Muhammed is not sound. God Almighty Himself is the Teacher of the Quran (552), and is the one who will reveal the meaning of the Quran, (7519), and even promises that he will show his signs, until the notion that the Quran is the truth is brought forward (4153) (i.e the explanation of the Quran/the signs in the Quran will be revealed in the future, such as the confirmation of Big Bang Theory (2130) & Expansion of the universe (5147) & big Crunch theory (21104). This Obviously Could not be Explained by the Prophet Muhammed. Thus it is futile to go after Alleged Hadiths (Sayings) of the Prophet Muhammed, in order to try to understand the Quran. I will also cite the notion of "These are the verses of God, which We recite to you in truth. In Which HADITH after God and His verses do they believe in? (456)

    As a side note
    What about the "wisdom?" (&#1577
The Quran states in 1739 that THIS is what we revealed to you from the Wisdom, (i.e from verses 1723 to verses 38 be nice to parents, regard the poor, give full measures etc). Thus the Wisdom was derived from the Quran itself, and not outside of it. Note that the Prophet Muhammed was a Gentile, and he did not know any book, nor did he even know what faith is, as per (4252). Thus any Divine Wisdom he may have derived, had to be from the Quran itself, which was what was specifically revealed to him by name (202)

Again, if the Prophet Muhammed was given the Quran (202), ordered to follow the Quran, and had no other guidance besides the Quran (3450), then all that he had to give was the Quran itself (567).

      Shalom,

This is my obvious generic refutation
Misquoting God Take what Muhammad gives you and abstain from what he forbids

Feel free to let me know if there is any error in my part according to your understandings.

      PEACE

I Actually like your understanding better because it fits well into the context of what was said.
My Understanding probably came from the fact that some people might take the verse 597 Out of context, and say that the Hadith/Sunnah is what the Prophet Muhammed gave us. All and all, both views actually refute this Notion, and so, we are in agreement handshake
