I have finally returned to the forum, I have been gone for a few months and missed all of you, and reading your posts. I used to be under the name Ironsky, changed to Jundullah, dont ask why just liked the sound of it. Hope to hear from you all again, hope many of my old friends are still here and cant wait to meet the new members. Ive been a member here since around 2005. For those that remember, I have ran for election to my Native American community as President three times and always lost by a few votes, well I recently won and am now the elected leader for my community, al thanks be to God. Now though,. I am left with the hard part of changing and transforming my community into the vision I have always had for it, and its harder than I expected it to be. I am hioping that many of the members here will be able to help me, offer advice, ot just criticize me when Im wrong. I had many big ideas and islam is a part of it, just dont know what or how to do it. Hope to hear from you all soon. With respect to all,

I remember you! I just came back to the boards too after a couple years off. I remember you being the only Native American on the board, glad to have you back. Congratulations on your election and may Allah guide you in the right path. Regarding your community, remember the Muhammad's Ummah. Today, the Ummah is considered a community for Muslims. However in the Prophet's time, the Ummah was for everyone that lived under him. Islam can be a part of your community, such as justice, no riba, etc. Since you are a Native American, you know that there are many indigenous beliefs that believe in Allah and his Uniqueness. As for the polytheist if there are any, just like the Prophet, to them their beliefs and to us ours. As long as we cultivate peace and govern with God's Word, we will be safe. Very glad to have your news ex-Ironsky Jundullah. Many times I have wondered about you, that I didn't see your nic in the forum any more.
Thsi si a fantatic sign that you were elected. I am sure it is not a cake and that you must be overrun by problems and trials, and therefore I find very approrpriate that you felt the need to change your nic to Jundullah. That is it, you are fighting, warring for your people and all those who may be affected by what and how you do. Don't let problems and trials make you loose your cool, think always that we are nothing but God's putty and that it is not you powar or your merits, but what God wants to accomplish through you, and TRUST Him and relax. I pray most fervently that you may be a real help to your people, that your blessed land may be blessed through your leadership.

Thanks everyone, Layth, seriously the first thing i read after the election was the natural republic, it is a good blueprint, but I need lots of help and advice, really have lots of work that needs to be done, and we have so much potential in our community to start something new and build a new community. I will listen to any and all advice or suggestions.

My first advice would be that, as community leader, you uphold justice at all times, even if against yourself.
My second advice, is that when possible, you uphold the laws of God as stipulated in the Quran - This will bring you and your community God's blessings and favor - as was the case with the people of Jonah.

Allah SWT put a heavy emphasis on lineage throughout the Quran, and it is good that you feel good about your community and help them to prosper and thrive...
Please do not forget that the System of Islam is not a tabula rasa system, i.e. that you do not have, in fact you must not try to change everything... rather keep what is good, and fine tune what is lacking, gradually working towards purification in a progressive manner, like the Quran was revealed... This will be the wise way, and will disarm the devils from sabotaging your endeavor...
Allah advocates consultation among members of a community to arrive at any decisions, so the first thing you need to do is set up a consultative framework to allow your people to reach consensus, but ultimately, when everybody feel they have been heard, and their grievances listened to, and proposals put on the table, with some agreed upon, and others still hotly debated, you then need to enforce your leadership, by making it clear that this is the best moral and ethical decision to be taken in view of the outcome of the debates... and when you are sure that you feel right (Allah willing and guiding), then implement it with a prayer, and put your trust in Allah whilst doing so... this is the Quranic way, and even if the decision is lacking, you and your community will still be blessed and protected as you do it under Allah's guidance and watch... Allah respects the decision of the Shura if it is sincere and based on seeking righteousness and His pleasure...
May Allah guides you and gives you fulfillment in your role...

Teach and get people used to take responsibility and charge of their community, that they are not passive, but active members of it and that they are not expecting that some beneficent superior or father or whatever takes from the burden of being responsible of their community, so that even if you are not there in the future, they still can carry forward. That is make an active participating democracy, where everybody feels responsible, and do not give up if there are failures, learning takes time and losses, but is the sure way to secure the future, God willing. And it changes people for good.
May be you are already doing all that. If so, congratulations and good courage.
