Hey everyone my name is Jessica and i am a hispanic-american from laredo,Texas ) I am a convert from christianity to Islam.. i took my shahada almost a year ago ( Dec 29 ) I was formerly a pentecostal / fundamentalist christian.. and based with my experience with christianity, which was a mixture of bitter-sweet memories lol.... I eventually decided to convert to Islam because i couldnt handle the so many inconsistencies and confusion in the doctrine of the trinity among other things any longer !!! I never really viewed Jesus as God himself, but just his son.. and I payed attention to how he had his relationship with God... thats what i loved the most about the New Testament.. figuring out how Jesus spoke and communicated with God.. and this sentiment was shattered when I was later taught that Jesus was God.. i was like wtf ? How ? I thought reincarnation was like a hindu thing.. and so therefore "haram" by christian standards LOL So I kept this behind me for many years until I was 17 and decided to research on different religions.. mostly just Catholicism , Orthodox, Jehova Witnesses.. Judaism and Islam.... Islam.. being the most philosophical and profound of them all ) So then at age 18 i became "sunni" muslim
Sunni.......... only because i didnt wanted to be confuse with Shia LOL I was decieved by so many sunnis why not to like Shia3a.. and now I see their hypocrisy !! First of all, when muslims first started talking to me about islam... they never spoke about Hadiths.. just Quran... it wasnt until months later after my conversion that i heard about them...
At first, it was nice reading them.. all they talked about was how the prophet prayed, gave charity, his advice to the muslims on good deeds, how to achieve good deeds.. rewards ect... BUT it wasnt too long before i encountered the bad hadiths (
this really made me nervous.. even more so when I was tricked to believe that the Quran sanctioned this hadiths..
Reading the Quran was the ultimate salvation for me... it became my passion to learn more and more about Allah's book.. in no other book ( Tawrah / Injeel ) is Allah exalted and glorified than in the Quran...However, it was not easy reading 434 among other strange verses that did not seem to add up.... but some how, i left that behind me... and also.. i put aside the bad hadiths for a while and continued my islamic way of life.... ( exactly how i ignored the inconsistencies in christianity i did the same with Islam )
It was not until I really began to reflect upon the "Muslim " World.. and how their actions and their ideologies were far from being anything quranic or islamic... I also read and heard testimonies about ex muslims becoming atheists or christian..
And then it hit me ! Something is definitely wrong with Islam ! LOL
I then discovered that the hadiths were not written until 100 to 200 and even till 400 years after Muhammed's (sa) death !!!
and i was like... o_O so then how can people possible take these things seriously !!!
Finally, after visiting some quran alone sites... i decided to take my faith in islam seriously and follow only and believe only Quran
Alhamdulilah !! ) Prophet Muhammed would be so proud of me and of all quran alone muslims if he were here !!!hehe

Peace Kahina,
It is beautiful to hear that we have reverts from different cultures and regions from the world, and not just ex-shia or sunni members. I also came to Islam with a similar view as you in Christianity. I never quite believed the whole doctrine of Son being the Father and the Holy Spirit. I also came to read the Qur'an and accept it at your age as well. I had many Pakistani friends but they were indoctrinated into the belief from childbirth. They could read Arabic but had no idea what the Qur'an said, since reading Arabic is more important than understanding it.
Many belief systems, in its original form, already have the fundamentals of Submission in them already, but it gets corrupted. Hinduism can be seen as the same thing, as if you ask any learned Hindu, they will tell you that there is only One God. Reading the Bhagavad Gitas, Vedas, etc. you can grasp the concept of Tawhid, Gods Unity.
Glad to have you aboard, and thanks for sharing your experience.
Peace

Shalom,
Welcome to the community. I hope God guides you to his straight path and gives you success in this life and the next. I put in alot of time talking/discussing with Christians about their doctrines/Bible. The knowledge of Christianity actually helped me understand the problems with traditional Islam even better. All the way from authenticity to authority. In Christianity, what Jesus says matters less than what others said about him. Same in traditional Islam, Qur'an is superseded by the so called "sunnah". But I assure you, both my christian and traditional muslim friends would tell you otherwise. It is when you see "their practice vs their theory" that the alarm goes off in your mind.
Anyways, I hope God guides you and please share your findings with us and help educating us.

Exactly, I was shocked when I went through these
"Ekam evadvitiyam"
"He is One only without a second.""Na casya kascij janita na cadhipah."
"Of Him there are neither parents nor lord.""Na tasya pratima asti"
"There is no likeness of Him."Andhatama pravishanti ye asambhuti mupaste"
"They enter darkness, those who worship the natural elements" (Air, Water, Fire, etc.). "They sink deeper in darkness, those who worship created thingsi."I dont really see what excuse a hindu is left with when he gets questioned for not questioning his high priests.

-------------------------- Student of AllahBeautiful verses that you posted here. I watched a video with Zakir Naik giving a talk about Hinduism. Now I know that a lot of people do not like the guy, and I have some questions with his translations, but I remember him talking about pratima and how it means image. Did a google search and got this on a Yahoo! Answers response
"na tasya pratima asti
"There is no image of Him."
5"shudhama poapvidham"
"He is bodyless and pure."
6"Andhatama pravishanti ye asambhuti mupaste"
"They enter darkness, those who worship the natural elements" (Air, Water, Fire, etc.). "They sink deeper in darkness, those who worship sambhuti."
7Not even Hindus will be questioned but even us. I thought about it before, but even people that say they are monotheists, many still commit some sort of idol worship but giving images to God. Not talking about Wahhabis per say (that God has eyes, nose, etc.) but that when we think of God, we start attributing things and create an "image". May God forgive us.

Shalom,
I like Zakir Naik alot. I hate some of his recent works though. Zakir Naik has become my number one opponent. How so ? All my traditionalist friends always ask me to either submit to him or debate him...lol. But, hey, if we start judging, everyone will fall short of Glory. Lets appreciate the good he does and keep on speaking against the bad he does.
@Kahina Sorry for hijacking your welcome thread P

sun Peace and Blessings, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Clarence Cherry, I represent a growing community of submitters in the DC area. I have been living my life according to Quran alone for over 15 yrs and counting. We have a very progressive community in worshiping God alone. We host Jumah prayer at a local Library in the NE section of DC. We rotate Quran study every Saturday within the community. We are currently looking to purchase a space that we can worship, study and provide shelter or office space to support our diligent efforts in educating others who are willing to know the truth. We have been fortunate to have known the messenger of Allah, Dr. Rashad Khalifa, who authenticated our wonderful stricture "Quran". If there are any believers out there who looking to join a God alone community and continue to study the word of God, then we embrace your likeness. I leave you with this, we must force ourselves to be among the believers, and support God alone and He will support us, as mentioned in the Quran.
Asalaam Alaykum,
Clarence (DC)

Let me inform you that this website is not based on or around RASHAD KHALIFAH. Although his followers are productively present. Most people I saw here are not his followers, rather follows Qur'an alone.
May God guide you to success in this life and the next.
