Apostasy - should they be punished?

Apostasy ? Turning away from Islam
In many so called Islamic countries, it is considered that people who turn away from Islam should be punished/killed. The Qur'an gives us the knowledge, alhamdulillah, that this is wrong. We have no right to punish individuals who choose to leave Islam. Allah has given everyone the freedom of choice and it is for Allah to judge all individuals on the Last Day.
Consider the Qur'an references below
? People have a choice whether to believe or not (1829)
? People have been shown right and wrong (9010)
? We cannot compel people to believe. People have freedom of choice. Allah gives evil to those who do not use reason (1099-100)
? There is no compulsion in faith (2256). I.e. we must not force faith, or the extent to which someone practices their faith
? We are not responsible for the deeds of those who do shirk (6107) or follow the wrong path, and neither were the prophets (610
? We must not revile (i.e. insult, abuse, despise, berate) objects of shirk (610
? Allah will not forgive or guide those who sometimes believe and sometimes disbelieve, and then grow in their disbelief. They are hypocrites (4137-13. They will be punished in the hereafter (3106), (390-91)
? If a society turns away from the Islamic way of life, in time another community will emerge who Allah loves (554), as happened with the Jews
? Allah?s guidance will not come to those who reject the truth having previously been believers. They will be rejected by Allah, the natural forces (malaikah) and people. Their suffering will not be lightened ? except those who repent and then put themselves right (386-89)
? Those who turn away from the Islamic way of life and die as disbelievers, their deeds will go to waste and they will go to hell (471), (4725-1, (2217), (3090-91).Because such people clearly have the time to die as disbelievers, it cannot be true that their punishment is to be killed by other humans (2217), (4137-13. What about their chance to repent?

Salam alaikum warah7mat allaho wabarakataho.
There is no compulsion upon entering islam but when he becomes muslim and than leave islam and propegate another religion; in that case he would be executed according to the law of treason. Remember that treason is punished by death in many countries including the states.
Personally I see many apostates in this site. If We had a khalifah they would not be here anymore therefore I ask them to repent. The problem with quranists is that they think every tom Dick and harry can interpret al quran al karim. Anyone from the street can spent two min in reading a verse and 'understand' it.
We sunnites don't believe that each and everyone can interpret the quran according to his own desires and wishes therefore We always read the quran with TAFSIR.

Thanks for clearing that. May God reward you for being truthful. Finally, found a sunni brother that is honest enough to state that its not because Allah said so, according to law of God, BUT according to some other man made law. Thank you. We do know that such punishments are given by many countries, how does that justify your choice ? USA allows many other things which ofcourse you wont accept, so one should not try to justify his choice without reason and simply resort to "popular choice".

Qur'an is indeed a miracle. Thanks for confirming these ayaats
1745 And when you read the Qur'an, We place between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter an invisible barrier.
1746 And we place shields over their hearts, that they should not understand it, and a deafness in their ears. And if you mention your Lord in the Qur'an alone, they run away turning their backs in aversion. We sunnites don't believe that each and everyone can interpret the quran according to his own desires and wishes therefore We always read the quran with TAFSIR.
Thanks for the information. We MUSLIMS however have a different view.
Peace be on you

It is such an unfortunate state of affairs that people such as these decide to 'completely' and 'utterly' ignore the aayah in the Qur'an. I thought the aayah I quoted were pretty clear and easy to understand. They would rather follow the man-made laws and ignore Allah's instructions. The words of our creator. The supreme. And what is the word describing this activity? .
Brother and sisters who make the effort to come to this website - please, let's open up our hearts and minds, please, let's listen to Allah and not people who our forefathers have made 'leaders'. Remember - there is only one right (huq) - the rest is wrong (baatil).

Yet AQ states differently. AQ states that there is no compulsion in the system/Deen. This means the ENTIRE system/Deen--not just when someone enters Islam. I wonder what "knowledge" has been taken as precedence over the Instructions/Guidance of ALLAH? Hadith? Tafsir? It really doesn't matter. When it comes to the Deen any of that extra "stuff" is ALL garbage!
2256 There is no compulsion in the system; the proper way has been clarified from the wrong way. Whoever rejects evil, and believes in GOD, indeed he has taken grasp of the strongest hold that will never break. GOD is Hearer, Knower.
@Sunnah-heroLong time, no see. I don't worry about catching the hadith from you, but you might just catch monotheism from us, ISA! )
May ALLAH see fit to Guide all seekers.
peace

2256 There is no compulsion in religion, for the right way is clearly from the wrong way. Whoever therefore rejects the forces of evil and believes in God, he has taken hold of a support most unfailing, which shall never give way, for God is All Hearing and Knowing.
1682 But if they turn away from you, your only duty is a clear delivery of the Message .
6107 Yet if God had so willed, they would not have ascribed Divinity to aught besides Him; hence, We have not made you their keeper, nor are you a guardian over them.
479-80 Say'Whatever good betides you is from God and whatever evil betides you is from your own self and that We have sent you to mankind only as a messenger and all sufficing is God as witness. Whoso obeys the Messenger, he indeed obeys God. And for those who turn away, We have not sent you as a keeper."
1128 He (Noah) said "O my people! think over it! If I act upon a clear direction from my Lord who has bestowed on me from Himself the Merciful talent of seeing the right way, a way which you cannot see for yourself, does it follow that we can force you to take the right path when you definitely decline to take it??
1753-54 And tell my servants that they should speak in a most kindly manner. Verily, Satan is always ready to stir up discord between men; for verily; Satan is mans foe .... Hence, We have not sent you with power to determine their Faith.
21107-109 (O Prophet?) 'We have not sent you except to be a mercy to all mankind" Declare, "Verily, what is revealed to me is this, your God is the only One God, so is it not up to you to bow down to Him?' But if they turn away then say, "I have delivered the Truth in a manner clear to one and all, and I know not whether the promised hour is near or far."
2267 To every people have We appointed ceremonial rites which they observe; therefore, let them not wrangle over this matter with you, but bid them to turn to your Lord. You indeed are rightly guided. But if they still dispute you in this matter, `God best knows what you do."
24.54. Say "Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger. but if ye turn away, he is only responsible for the duty placed on him and ye for that placed on you. If ye obey him, ye shall be on right guidance. The Messenger's duty is only to preach the clear (Message).
8821 22; And so, exhort them your task is only to exhort; you cannot compel them to believe.
4828 He it is Who has sent forth His Messenger with the Guidance and the Religion of Truth, to the end that tie make it prevail over every religion, and none can bear witness to the Truth as God does.
3616 17 (Three Messengers to their people) Said, "Our Sustainer knows that we have indeed been sent unto you, but we are not bound to more than clearly deliver the Message entrusted to us.'
3941 Assuredly, We have sent down the Book to you in right form for the good of man. Whoso guided himself by it does so to his own advantage, and whoso turns away from it does so at his own loss. You certainly are not their keeper.
426 48 And whoso takes for patrons others besides God, over them does God keep a watch. Mark, you are not a keeper over them. But if they turn aside from you (do not get disheartened), for We have not sent you to be a keeper over them; your task is but to preach ....
6412 Obey God then and obey the Messenger, but if you turn away (no blame shall attach to our Messenger), for the duty of Our Messenger is just to deliver the message.
6725 26 And they ask, "When shall the promise be fulfilled if you speak the Truth?" Say, "The knowledge of it is verily with God alone, and verily I am but a plain warner."
109.1-6 Say O ye that reject Faith,! I worship not that which ye worship, Nor will ye worship that which I worship, And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship, Nor will ye worship that which I worship, To you be your Way, and to me mine.
74.11-17 Leave Me with whom I created alone!, To whom I granted resources in abundance, And sons to be by his side, To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable, Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory!, Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities!
