What SALAT really is...
-
Peace,
The debate on salat has always been active and much of the thinking has established that it entails a concept of commitments or obligations. But the nuance is what is important - SALAT is not the commitment or obligation itself but the process of following through on the promises and commitments.
The commitment or obligation would be to "feed the needy" for example. The SALAT would be the process of carrying out of that obligation. Neglecting the salat would therefore be the following of one's own lust and desire.
SALAT is the duty of following closely God's way. SALAT is putting into practice the system of God, and living it.
Regards.
PS I know we've discussed this ad infinitum - but I just wanted to put it here for the benefit of clarification.
