Return Of Christ?
-
As-Salaam Alaikum
I was wondering what was everyones thoughts on the second coming of Christ? Does the Qur'an mention a second coming?
I know must Muslims when asked to give proof from the Qur'an they use this ayat
?And (Jesus) shall be a sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgement) Therefore have no doubt about the (Hour) but follow ye Me this is a Straight Way.? (Az Zukhruf 43.61)
However, this verse does not clearly say that Christ will return. To my knowledge, Muslims get their theology of the Second Coming from hadiths which also mention Iman al-Mahdi and the Dajjal, both which are also not mentioned in the Qur'an.
My personal opinion is that belief in a Second Coming not only holds no weight but is also unnecessary and in a way dangerous. It gives the excuse for man to hit idle by and let the wrong doing in the world continue in hope that a man from the sky will come save them instead of man taking responsibility himself, and it open the door for the world to be under one "supreme" ruler.
I honestly don't feel the need for Christ to come back to rule the world. I don't think it'd solve anything because by human nature there will always be people that rebels against authority, not always out of spite or recklessness, but just from the feeling of not wanting to be ruled or told what to do by someone else no matter who they are. Everyone is entitled to be free and rule themselves (at least that's how it should be).
Myself politically an Anarchist, I also take the Gnostic approach in waiting for "the age without a king" to finally come. That is when I believe the world will know peace and unity, when there's a stateless, classless society working together as one without any authority figure or body. The world being ruled by one authority figure is called Fascism, which in my opinion is exactly what we don't need. Just because the name of the leader is Isa (pbuh) doesn't change the fact that the system he would be enforcing is Fascism.

I read this quote years ago I may be paraphrasing.... I questioned God why does he allow suffering and did not do anything to stop it and he said why did you?

Here's a link to a Quranic explanation of why Jesus (Peace upon all Prophets) is dead.

The second page is hadith...didn't read.

Salaam,
My understanding on this subject is as follows
4157
4157 And their saying "We have killed the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, messenger of God!" And they had not killed him, nor crucified him, but it appeared to them as if they had. And those who dispute are in doubt regarding him, they have no knowledge except to follow conjecture; they did not kill him for a certainty.4158
4158 Instead, God had raised him to Himself; and God is Noble, Wise.Allah raised him but When?
354
354 For God said "O Jesus, I will terminate your life, and raise you to Me, and cleanse you of those who have rejected, and make those who have followed you above those who have rejected until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, all of you,so I will judge between you in what it was that you disputed."Allah said first Mutawaffika and then Raafiuka, but when the wafaat happen?
661
661 And He is the Supreme over His servants, and He sends over you guardians. So that when the time of death comes to one of you, Our messengers terminate his life, and they do not neglect any. This aayat shows clearly that wafaat happens only when death comes. This means...
maut <==> wafaat <==> Rafa'a
May Allah increase us all in knowledge and guide us all to His true path pr

While the Ahmadiyya have long held the belief that Jesus is dead, and I agree that this belief is completely supported by the Quran (as shown above), they still hold fast to the notion that Jesus is still to return. Their founder claimed to be the fulfillment of Jesus' second coming in his spirit and power (like John the Baptist for Elijah), giving himself the title "Promised Messiah". It would appear that, in some instances, they rely on the Quran, but in others they do not.
While the Quran does not support the notion of Jesus' second coming, it is my understanding that the following verses predict the second coming of Muhammad?
622-3 He is who raised among the illiterate people a messenger from among themselves who recites unto them His signs, and purifies them, and teaches them the Book and the Wisdom, though before that they were in manifest error. And He will raise him among others of them who have not yet joined them. He is the Mighty, the Wise.
Do these verses make reference to a second coming of Muhammad? Otherwise, what is the meaning of 623?

Salaam RS,
The important part is there is no mention of Mohammed in both the aayaats and there is no mentioned of raising him.

mmkhan,

many use this verse as proof for the comeback of jesus
1933 "And peace be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the Day I am resurrected alive."
19.33.but the same expression is used for yahia
19.15.in fact, the return of jesus is linked to the apparition of imam mahdi and dajjal (antechrist)
it is all story from hadith with nothing in quran, absolutely nothingthe story is "hadith" adaptation from the "apocalypse part" of bible. "evangelists" hesitate much before deciding to integrate it in the cannonical version.

Salamun Alaikum
Everyone will be resurrected in the Hour.
We never decreed immortality for anyone before you ; should you die, are they immortal?
Every person will taste death, after we put you to the test through adversity and prosperity, then to us you ultimately return.
