when first reading this seemed there wasn't an answer - for me,but looking at the words more closely i think the meanings revealled itself,if we want to see it.7142
- So when Moses came to Our appointed time, and his Lord spoke to him, he said ?My Lord, let me look upon you.? He said ?You will not see Me, but look upon the mountain, if it stays in its place then you will see Me.? So when his Lord revealed Himself to the mountain, He caused it to crumble; thus Moses fell unconscious. When he awoke, he said ?Glory be to You, I repent to You and I am the first of those who believe.?

And when came moses at our appointment and spoke to him his lord he said "o my lord show thou(yourself)(that) i may look/think upon you he said will never (be able to)see me/imagine me but look at/think of/concentrate on the mountain if it remains firm in its place then you might see me and when revealed(his)glory his lord to the mountain he made it as dust/as powder/crumble bacame moses unconsious and when he recovered he said glory be to you i return to you in repentance and i am first of the believers.

Here is my understanding. The Mountain is the largest object on the PHYSICAL earth. It is said to be a stabalizer and is used as a symbolism for government(that which is meant to stabalize society). In this story, it is used because it is the largest object on earth, and the topic deals with the God revealing "Himself" to the Physical level.
When we think upon the mountian physically, or any physical object for that matter, it is not really sturdy like we might think. It is made of the VERY SAME things that all thinsg are made of, ATOMS. And they are n constant motion. So if you really think upon ANY physical object, including the LARGEST of them on earth, it is STILL part of the SAME WHOLE. ALL THINGS manifest from the God. There is nothing outside of the God's "being". ALL THINGS come from the same energy, that forms atoms, that form all objects in the physical world.
