Looking for ways to introduce FreeMinds to my sunni husband
-
Salam to all
I don't know if this has been discussed before, so forgive me if this is a redundant post.
For some background, I am an American woman who converted to Islam. I married an Arab Muslim (we fell in love) and for many years, tried to live nice, strict Sunni lifestyles.
In the past few years though, my skepticism got the better of me, and to put it briefly, I was relieved to stumble upon this site and find others who rejected Hadiths.
Anyway, my husband and I love each other very much. We have lived a lot less strictly in recent years. We watch TV, we listen to pop music, we eat at regular restaurants, etc. He would like to be more religious (as a Sunni) while I am happy the way we are.
Right now, during Ramadan, he is fasting, praying and reading the Quran. I know, though, that when the month is over, he'll be his usual self again, which is fine by me.
I wanted to know if there are sites, or certain webpages, that cater to Arabs who are not very "web-savvy" My husband speaks and reads English, but he would prefer to read Arabic. I've seen some pages on Free-Minds that are in Arabic, but I have no idea what they say.
Are there God-only sites that have Arabic and its English translation? I ask, because I'd like to know what I am letting my husband see. Not just "Here, look at this site" For all I know, it could be Shakespeare in Arabic.
Or, even if there are books in print, which could address this.
My husband is a reasonable man, but I think if I just approached him with a challenge to everything he's ever believed in, with nothing to back it up, well we might end up in an argument!

Peace be upon you Raindrop,
The advice I am giving you comes from a person who also does not speak or read Arabic, but I understand many of the concepts due to the many years on this and other forums.
The only Arabic you need to point him to is the Arabic of this reading(quran). You take on the responsibility that you know is upon all those who submit which is to study this message as it should be studied. Then you tell him, in the wisest manner, the TRUTH. And then show him the verses and let him read the Arabic right from the Source.
I am sure some other brothers and sister here can foward you to some Arabic articles, but if it comes from you, perhaps he might pay more attention.
Whichever path you select, just make sure you keep planting seeds in his mind every chance you get.

Peace raindrop,
In my opinion, the BEST advice/answer that you could have been given was provided by Idolfree1. I agree that it should be option number 1. But if your pc is Arabic enabled you can also try www.genuine-islam.com/arabic.htm
Peace be with you,

Salam sister Raindrop,
Peace Raindrop,
Here is a detailed Arabic article that your husband might find interest in reading

Layth
I sent the article quoted by brother Layth to my two sisters and my uncle, I did not receive any reaction from them cry
I consider this silence as a positive reaction.
I encourage you to do it

You may end up in a divorce because khalifites have been declared kafir and thats a consensus within the muslim ummah. Please tell your husband, that the sunnah is unislamic and an untrue source of the islam. Also tell him your deviant stances on some quranic verses and other important, fundamental issues. (no prayer, no hadj, no shahada, you can drink alcohol, have anal sex etc.)
Give him also this link http//www.free-minds.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1819

Salaam All,
Would it be possible to teach this person -- I wonder --that there is no point of him abstaining from food or drink whilst he is spreading lies and fitnah and is clearly arrogant and thinks "concensus" is what matters...When is he going to back his claims with objective truth? roll

Is anal sex a fundamental issue!!! Is that what Islam is about.
I can just see the meccans now "Oh Muhammed thou dost forbid us from anal sex, we will kill you for sure."
ur prayer .. a selfish act, only benefits you not GOD and not your brothers. You feel less guilty about your crimes after a good prayer.
ur hajj ... blatant idol worship and a slap in the face of prophet Ibrahim.
and shadda ... God is sufficient as witness.

As an Arabs myself who arrived at the importance of the Qur'an over the hadith years before I even dicovered this site (which was three days ago), I will definitely advise him to read the Qur'an in Arabic. This is how I arrived here, and I am very blessed.
You may want to urge him to study Qur'an together whereby you both read a certain section of the Qur'an and try to understand it.
One thing you want to do is have a good Arabic Arabic dictionary to help him with some of the words and ask him to try to understand it on his own instead of reading a book of tafsir(translation). Classical Arabic is really not different from the arabic that we study today. Only some words in the Qur'an may used less often.
I hope this helps and may Allah show us all the right path.

We are blessed to have another brother freed from the "Matrix" and joining us in this TRUE struggle!

If you do not believe in Quran as furqan then why are you here? Why waste your time with a bunch of "kafirs" or "khalifites" as you call us? It seems you're just here to make comments and create fitnah. But why bother? It's a waste of time. You will not convince any of us about your idol worshipping of Muhammed. You'll just encourage more of us to put you on iggy. wink
Salaam.
