Martial Arts, Boxing, and Fighting in general?
-
I have heard before in the Quran that we are not to start a war against someone and only to fight back if attack.
However I have heard some people mention that straight up fighting is also no allowed in the Quran, though i've never seen a verse on it.
I understand fighting as in someone punching someone else without consent or reason but how about stuff like Martial Arts or Boxing which are sports that have two people mutually fighting each other. Its not like they plan to kill each other nor permanently damage each other either or leave them in a cast for a while (even if accidents happen).
If that was the case then what about Soccer and all other sports as they all have a bit of an aggressive nature that might cause accidents too. As well what about an action film where the two people are to fight in that movie for the scene?
As far as i'm aware, the Quran seems to always point out killing the innocent human and aggressive warfare are condemned, but not something like fighting in the manner of sports like martial arts.
Thanks )

Thanks for your post. I'vealready made my thoughts about it . There are martial arts, acting, however, without aggression or injury. Boxing I find more problematic, and when I watch wrestling, I feel sick,, quite the contrary to my children, who find it 'cool' ....
There, people are thrown ball over trading, chairs broken over heads, people on the floor and others jumping up their heads. ... This isn't a sport in my eyes and (for me) against the word of God who promotes freedom . They promotes only two thing agression and violence.
my personal opinion. peace -
Martial arts are for self defense, they're not a sport like boxing

Intention is everything. You don't think warriors practiced with each other? You are not intending to hurt or kill. Nothing wrong with learning self-defense, along with that you learn self-control. How good would my kickboxing skills be if I did not practice with another and learn countering tactics? Also, I just don't go out kicking some butt. I have the knowledge to protect myself and my hubby if he needs it..lol (If someone would try something.) They might see me with my 3 kids and say "Aww, look at that poor muslim woman, lets mess with her". Bad day for you buddy! And yes I can shoot a bow and I know my way around a sword as well (have a scimitar hanging in my bedroom).... MAKE MY DAY!

my personal opinion. peaceSalam mirjamnur,
Well while ethically I don't like the concept of wrestling where chairs are used against others and such, Quranically though I haven't seen anything that forbids it which is what i'm trying to find. When we see wrestling and boxing on TV and such they aren't promoting violence but simply offering entertainment much like everything else on TV. They don't state to go and beat each other up and thus if someone indeed does it, it is they who are at fault.
Anyways, Quranically the only type of aggression i've ever seen prohibiting is always in regards to murder (whether amongst individuals or starting wars) and I THINK (emphasis on the think part as i'm not 100% sure if this is in there or not) permanent injuries. Thus people who engage in fighting mutually without intent on killing each other nor permanently injuring each other I wouldn't think is a problem afterall we got movies starring Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee who fight the other person under a mutual agreement and isn't fake either the fight but always try to make sure not to permanently injure each other nor hurt one another. Course I may be wrong which is why i'm asking for better clarification.

It is a sport when in a tournament

Lol awesome DD Well I understand that. The question I really want to know is boxing, martial arts and such under the context of entering tournaments and television okay?
People like Bruce Lee and his opponent in his many movies mutually agreed to actually fight I believe and thus clearly did hurt each other but nothing permanent nor death related. Quranically i've found nothing so far against it so far and only forbids aggression in the form of killing, starting wars, and I believe permanent injuries which all at the same time are clearly under the indication of a non-mutual agreement to fight in the first place.
PS. You sound like one VERY awesome mother DD
