    i was wondering about something and want to know what other's thoughts are on sociopaths. is it conceivable that God would have created some people without a conscience? could this have perplexed the angels who questioned - sura 230 And your Lord said to the angels "I am placing a successor on the earth." They said "Will You place in it he who would make corruption in it, and spill blood;

    sociopaths come from different walks of life/background - cultural, ethnic, religious, socioeconomic and yet share similar characteristics/traits. lying, deceiving, manipulative, taking no responsibility or accountability for their actions, showing no remorse or guilt for their hurtful, evil behavior/actions. sociopaths deny any wrong doing even when caught red handed in their actions. they will project their behavior onto their victims distorting reality not owning up. therapists and those who know or been involved with sociopaths say that these individuals seldom change.

    makes me wonder are some people just born without a conscience? is conscience an acquired trait? are sociopaths destined to never change? in so many places in the koran, God talks about people with diseased hearts who will never change even if truth is so clearly revealed to them and thus, their hearts are sealed that nothing will help save them. so how does free will and choices fit or apply to these individuals?

      well, some people might have some physiologically anamoly in them.
      Free choice and will doesn't mean you are responsible for everything. A child might have free choice, but do they really know what's right and wrong? you wouldn't judge a child like an adult...

      To say, each person might be tried against their deeds + knowledge + condition + ... + .... etc

        Salam justamuslim,

        I'm currently watching this V series, and one of the species call themselves the visitors, a serpent alien with a human outer skin to hide their lizard body beneath it; they have 2 sides of the story..
        One on earth are intermingling with the earthlings and are becoming more human..their called "5th column", considered traitors of the visitors..
        The other one are on the mother-ships hovering above cities and are reluctant to mingle with the humans unless it serves them a purpose in a temporary terms..

        AFAIK the latter have the beliefs that if they mingled with the humans they will be infected with the humans "weakness" which was that sentimental feelings for others; to the visitors this is a disease that need to be ridden off for it will render decision making flawed
        they even are willing to sacrifice/rebel against their own queen if she exhibited a sign of those "flaw" to the point that the queen had to prove that she still had those cold-blooded nature in her by slashing one of the instigators of the mutiny in front of a council meeting..

        Maybe it's about the idea that projected on the minds of the sociopaths more than the hereditary nature.. the social structure and upbringing..
        in the case of the V series the visitors, since they do have the good and bad sides it might mean that genetics aren't of that influential factor to sociopathic traits..

        i know it's just a movie ^.^
        peace

            @kaiokenred

            interesting article. i don't agree with the direct lineage part - sociopaths being a product of mom or dad who is a sociopath. i personally know sociopaths who come from good family taught right from wrong, raised with moral values, punished for their actions to know that there are consequences.

            most people think of sociopaths as violent deviants of society. not the case. the number of nonviolent sociopaths is lot higher and they are highly successful like doctors, business persons, etc and they don't all come from dysfunctional family background being a product of their environment. so, it makes me wonder then if sociopath is a genetic disorder or one is born without a conscience then God is the creator of 'evil'. so God creates these souls who are themselves suffering only to be destined to suffer in this life and the next. this just doesn't sit well with me. i know that i will not understand but i have been wondering about this lately.
