If you call on them they shall not hear your call, and even if they could hear they shall not answer you; and none (no worldy knowledge) can inform you like the One Who is Aware.

Please try to comprehend the above ayat; wisdom is what allahu teaches you. what you have learned as knowledge is what men around you taught you - the manifest error-

    Salaam Dr. Fazl

If you call on partners/Idols, they shall not hear you, since they are not omniscient and omnipresent(aware), however The God, is Aware and informs you via Quran/scripture.

    062.002
It is He Who has sent amongst the Unlettered a messenger from among themselves, to rehearse to them His Signs, to sanctify them, and to instruct them in Scripture and Wisdom,- although they had been, before, in manifest error(with their knowledge)-

I think it would be a good time to use some worldly knowledge and deduce the fact that Ummy(translated as illiterate by the traditionals for obvious reasons) contextually and literally means Gentile-unlettered in scripture.

    2269
He bestows wisdom upon whomever He chooses, and whoever attains wisdom, has attained a great bounty.(hint, hint) Only those who possess intelligence will take heed.

    Salaam

      Peace be upon you Doctor,

      "calling on the God/focusing".

How do you 'focus' on the God?

      Doctor, it seems like everytime you respoond to me you are asking questions regarding statement that I NEVER said. So I ask once again, WHERE did you see me say that? I only equated "calling on the God" with "focusing", I never stated what he object of FOCUS is. That is up to the one who is giving "du'a". So again, the process is that you have a dilemma, so you focus on it by prayer(du'a), then you get busy STUDYING the subject so that during this LEARNING PROCESS(salaat), the malaika(God's controlling forces which come to us as thoughts), can deliver the solution. The example of Zachariah;

(338-39) At that place and time Zachary called his Lord, he said "My Lord grant/present for me, from at you good descendants, that you are hearing/listening (to) the call/prayer." So the malaiaka called him, while he was maintaing salaat, in the chamber, "That The God announces good new to you with "yahya" confirming with a word from The God and a master and restricting himself (chaste) , and a prophet from the correct/righteous people."

How do you turn/return unto HIM?

      Living righteously

Prior to 'focus'sing on HIM we must know who HE is!
      Please say who/where/why He is.

I NEVER said to focus on the God, that is impossible. Please have patience brother and make sure you read my posts thouroughly. It seems that you are rushing to "teach us" without taking time to see if there is anything you can learn, respectfully.

          Peace be upon you Warda,

I don't say anything inArabic because I speak english, so even if I do say it in Arabic, my thoughts are in english D

WHAT I say depends on what the condition is, I find that most of my "du'a" is for the God to increase me in knowledge.

            peace warda,

I'm not sure but you may be confusing "duaa'a" with "salat". Most people here do not equate the two.

When I call/suplicate/pray (duaa'a) it has no recurring form/sequence/recitation, except in demeanor.

            Wakas

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

              Salam Wakas, Idolfree

for me salat is fatha, Aya, Raqa?a , sujud,...tashid,.....
du`a opening your hands towards the sky (what somehow helps spiritually as I felt it several times . Its like energy coming to my fingers) and asking God for this and that.
But how do I ask God in a proper manner for this and that?

              Salam

                Peace be upon you Warda,

Where do you get the opening of tha hands from? Which verse?

Please visit the salaat section to find out how the traditional method you speak of is incorrect.

                  Salam Idolfree,

I cant name you a verse and truly Im not such a big expert in verses and all that. I do it because its tradition as in some thing I like tradition and sometimes I may be a conservative. However, me and a lot of people with me feel energy while holding my hands up like this. This shows me that its not wrong, even if it`s not written in any verse.

                  Bye

                    Peace be upon you,

My advise to you would be not to take this as a mere sport, start studying.

People from ALL "religions" FEEL GOOD with whatever they do, but it is still incorrect.

But there is no compulsion in the God's system, so I am only giving advice.

                      Peace Idolfree,

you know, people are different. Not everybody can be a researcher or a philosoph . I appreciate your going into the substance of the subject but I dont have the time nor the peace or silence to do so. If I could earn money for me and my kids with studying the Quran... wonderful, but I cant. However I started studying quite a while ago but everything takes time. and I can not study all at the same time.

And respectfully- I dont like it that you call my religious practise (here dua) a "mere sport". You don`t have to do the same - but you should respect it.

Why do you think is it incorrect to lift up hands towards the sky while saying du`a?

Ahh, it seems I may have misunderstood your question, due to it being unclear.

But how do I ask God in a proper manner for this and that?

I recommend looking at ALL the examples of people/messengers/prophets asking The God for something in al quran (there are probably hundreds of examples), if you find a specific form/sequence/recitation, then apply it to your method, if you find no specific form/sequence/recitation then dont apply a specific method.

Even if you only read one ayat/sign/verse per day, you will soon arrive at the answer.

The fact is Dr. One need "wordly knowledge" to read/comprehend.

Reading and writing is different ; Knowledge and Wisdom is different. Please do not mixup the two as ONE

Learning to read or write is just the same as one's ability to speaking and hearing ; only the format is different. The knowledge or Wisdom that you argue about starts only from the point after learning to ... read or write/speak or hear. Having been lettered if you use your criterion then Wisdom Prevails; otherwise what you have is knowledge, useless!

                              For wisdom!

                              013 . 014
Unto Him is the real prayer. If not it is just this as one who stretcheth forth his hands for water that it may come unto his mouth, and it will never reach it. The prayer of disbelievers goes astray.

                                Peace be upon you Warda,

Thats fine, but I would wonder why you are here, if not to do research? Also, peace is a necessary requirement. I strongly urge you to seek it.

If I could earn money for me and my kids with studying the Quran... wonderful, but I can`t.

So your goal is money, not peace? Money will reject your following it one day.

However I started studying quite a while ago but everything takes time. and I can not study all at the same time.

That is great that you are studying, it is essential for the development of the mind(nafs).

If you continue to study, in time, you will understand that I am not being disrespectful.

Why do you think is it incorrect to lift up hands towards the sky while saying du`a?

I hear and obey the God's instructions. I see no instruction to lift my hands to the sky. The God is closer that the jugular vein, not way up in the sky.

Please understand that my responses to you are not delivered to be disrespectful, I am just being firm in my position and I would be very happy to continue to reason this al out with you. My focus is on PEACE and TRUTH, I do not wish to build seperation between you and myself.

                                    lol That was funny.

Peace is the state of mind that one must achieve so that the SOLUTION TO LIFES PROBLEMS can be intuited from the God. The answers are always right there for us, but we are to distracted from out focus to see them.

Trust me when I tell you, I am by no means rich and I work from check to check. I am behind on my rent and my home phone is off. I have a felony on my record from 1995 which prevents me from many jobs. I even checked "no" on that question for the last job I had that lasted one week until they found out. And we can go on and on about the problems of life, but the answer is not to be found in despair, only in achieving a peaceful state of mind. When you are in despair, the blood leaves your brain to go do other functions. When you fear, blood leaves your brain for "fight or flight" response. Its like when someone takes a test, they get scared and "freeze up", if they remain calm and do not despiar, the answer comes. That is why it is easy to see the solution to others problems, but not your own, the one who is only observing is at peace and can easily see the answers.

(1555) They said "We announced to you with the good news, so do not be from the despaired/despairing."

However, me and a lot of people with me feel energy while holding my hands up like this. This shows me that its not wrong, even if its not written in any verse.

It is just natural to open the hands whenever asking for something even if the asked is Allah who knows what is in our hearts/minds. But we would still voice (physical means) that which is in our hearts/minds. The strong feelings show on the body. It would be hard to suppress it.

how do you pray/say your du`as? Besides from reciting the original arabic, do you speak in your mother-tongue? What do you say?
may somebody please answer to that little question?

When I have time, I would recite almost all the Ad3iyah (plural of Duaa?a) in the Quran, and that is after I would finish my Ssalatt but still on my spot. Other times, when I have less time I would say the famous Duaa?a known to have been said by Prophet Muhammad(P&BBUH)
                                      .
                                      .
It just sums it all! )

Nahj Al Balagha The words of Imam Ali, is full of the most beautiful Ad3iyah, in the most beautiful Arabic. Duaa?a Kumail is the most famous of them all. It is very long, but some people manage to memorize it because they read it all the time. This Duaa?a is particularly, or only, popular among the Shia. Unfortunately, my Sunni community is shut out of it because of their rejection to every thing the Shia do or like, as far as I know!

                                        I think so too.

Du'a and salat are inseparable single entity as these two are inherent in the life of a pious.
