    Salaam 357 and IAMOP,

3845-47 does not say that Ibrahim was noble. I have already quoted 4913 in my previous post.

    1770
1770 And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with preference.

Please look at the word "karramna", its derivative is used in 4913, and I don't really know how translators translates it differently.

What I personally understand from Ibrahim's example is ... 2135 it means "...and he did not become of the polytheists." and he was "hanifa" means "cutting of all and making himself only one sided", this also refers to not doing shirk.

You will find this in AlQuraan ONLY about Ibrahim also in 6161 about not becoming mushrik and 367, 395, 4125, 16120, 16123 for him being hanifa.

Did not become of the polytheists are very important to understand. You can imagine, why the same thing is not used for other prophets or messengers! This will show you that from the very beginning he turned towards Allah alone. He did not even hold of prophets or messengers before him, as it is not required. Hope you get my point inshaAllah.

Brother IAMOP, we don't have to see other people, but we have look for ourselves, how we can strive hard to towards God.

    Brother 357 thanks for clarification.

Ibrahim was not made "imam for men" on the basis of his good deeds as per 2124, but after he completed his "ibtalaa" and then he was made imam. This is how I understand.

May Allah increase us in knowledge and guide us to His true path pr
    mmKhan

Sorry i havn't followed this thread for a while.

Do you have any examples of him where he refused to do shirk which was for humanity a prime example, the most vile form of shirk still blatantly carried on in this world, to which he was a prime contrarian??

    hmm

Ibraheem is "The reference" for us all , because after Ibrahim, came the religions, Yahud, Nassara, also Sunnah shia etc... , therefore, to go to the truth , you have to go back to the reference , Ibrahim wasn't a Yahudi, nor Nassrani , and also for sure, he wasn't a sunni nor a shiaa
therefore, allah chose him as the MARK or the REFERENCE, to counter all LIES and Forms of Religions

Ibrahim believed after a research he made, worshiped a star, the sun, the moon, and he took his mind into the search, and found the truth and became the reference

Because Abraham was the very first man to make the shift in thinking, from a "bicameral mind thinking" infected with falsehood and "mysticism" that was in use and practice before him, to the integrated and abstract way of thinking. Therefore, G-d promised him the holy descendants and offspring.

But Moses is the greatest of all mankind because he deserved to receive the Torah and G-d's Comandments, and he was the very first man to teach and proclaim the monotheism and started the slow process of civilizing the humankind.

But to him hasn't been given the Torah because he disobeyed G-d and listened to a woman (Sarah) instead to G-d and had a son with a servant-maid who hadn't been intended or promised by G-d. Afterwards Jacob, Isaak and others also did not deserve to receive the Torah because of various mistakes they made. That's why Moses is the greatest of all mankind because he deserved to receive the Torah and G-d's Comandments, and he was the very first man to teach and proclaim the monotheism and started the slow process of civilizing the humankind.

            As-Salaam Alaikum,

The Qur'an does not mention ANY of the Prophets disobeying Allah, you shouldn't attribute falsehood to any of the Prophets (may the peace and blessings of Allah be on them all).

Abraham was also given scripture anyway, the Scrolls of Abraham that the Qur'an mentions.

I am not sure, but tradition has it that the Scrolls of Abraham is actually the Sefer Yetzirah (The Book of Formation) which belongs to Jewish Kabbalah, and is called Book of Abraham. (It is highly esoteric). Perhaps the Qur'an might be referring to that...

                  Greetings and Peace, all group

                  Salaam 357,

No aayaats? If, people think Ibrahim's was given a very noble status without AlQuraan's evidence, it has nothing to do with the fact.

                  Did Allah say that? hmm

                  mmKhan

AQ 4125 comes to mind immediately.

4125 And who is better in the system than the one who submits himself to GOD, and he is a good doer, and he follows the creed of Abraham in monotheism? And GOD took Abraham as a friend.

This Ayat always fills me with wonder and awe. Seriously, I just wiped away a tear.

However, we are not to make distinctions (4152 for instance) between Prophets (peace upon them all). 492 instructs one instance of proper conduct around a Prophet. It seems that "just" being a Prophet is high status in itself!

492 O you who believe, do not raise your voices above the voice of the prophet, nor shall you speak loudly to him as you would speak loudly to each other, lest your works become nullified while you do not perceive.

                  ALLAH knows best.

                  peace

Yes, it's of no point to elevate one messenger/prophet above another. What purpose would that have anyway? Since we are not supposed to worship them, ranking them is useless. BUT, we may of course look and see what the quran says about them so that we may derive some insights about what they promoted, their message and deen.

                    peace!

mmkhan is as usual misguiding others

Ibrahim (AS) hold very noble status in Islam and for Muslims/Momins

And who is better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah while being a doer of good and follows the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth? And Allah took Abraham as an intimate friend 4125

Indeed, Abraham was a leader, devoutly obedient to Allah , inclining toward truth, and he was not of those who associate others with Allah 1620

He is one of the most important character of history also, the historians call him father of main religons on the earth.

When it's said "don't make distinctions between the messengers/prophets" it's evidently in the message they give. All of them come with the same message with appropriate variations depending entirely on the nation they are delivering the message to. There is no distinction in that there is no "One God A" and "One God B" who both send messengers claiming to be the singular God.

It is inconsistent that God ranks the messengers yet tells us to treat them all as equals. No two human beings are equal and if we are to remember that 'the best of us is the most righteous of us' then there is clearly a rank between all beings and that includes the messengers/prophets.

Whatever ranking there is would naturally only be for the purpose of showing us something, some example or lesson or insight. It would have nothing to do with the actual messengers, as they are not important in themselves... it would only be some lesson about them that would be important or beneficial for us to learn. So the focus should not be on the fact that they are differently ranked, if at all... but instead it should be on WHY they are ranked the way they are. There must be some information or lesson to be extracted from the tales about the messengers, otherwise there is absolutely no use mentioning anything about them. We don't worship messengers, so in that sense we make no difference between them... but instead we LEARN from their examples/situation.
And yes, any true message must agree with any other true message, so therefor they would be basically the same, with the same point, but perhaps from different angles. Anything else is not possible. Truth is truth.

                                    Peace ya all

It is very important to understand how Allah gives preference to some over others, remember all of these prophets were pious and righteous, that is why they were chosen amongst billions. But still when allah says that some are preferred over others it clearly indicates that some are on higher ranks than others.
Offcourse we are told not to make distinction among them, but we must acknowledge what Allah is saying.

Message is important but the careful choice of messangers shows us that Messenger is as equal important. Without appropriate messenger message just floats in the air.

                                        Salaam Zulf,

bravo I agree with you totally.

Rasool is always in relation to message and Nabi is always in relation to information, it has noting to do with them personally but with the message and information we get from them is important.

                                        May Allah bless you.

Offcourse we are told not to make distinction among them, but we must acknowledge what Allah is saying.

384 - Say We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Ibrahim and Ismail and Ishaq and Yaqoub and the tribes, and what was given to Musa and Isa and to the prophets from their Lord; we do not make any distinction between any of them, and to Him do we submit.

From this verse we can see the forbidden distinction between prohets/messengers is nothing to do with their rank. A Christian will say "I believe in Jesus but Muhammad is a false prophet" and similarly a Jew will believe in Moses but disbelieve in Jesus & Muhammad. This is where the distinction is forbidden. It is the equivalent of saying "when a newer messenger comes with the truth, do not exclude him and yield to God as you did for the last messenger". Making a distinction between these makes them a sect. The 'people of the book' are still a group of muslims at the end of the day.
