    Salam all,

This particular verse caught my attention

42 7. And thus have We revealed to you an Arabic Quran, that you may warn the mother city and those around it, and that you may give warning of the day of gathering together wherein is no doubt; a party shall be in the garden and (another) party in the burning fire.

If the Quran was for all people all over the world, why didn't it say so?

    1. Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide to mankind...,

Is mankind in 2185 correctly translated?

Is the Quran only for Arabs?

    Unbiased comments are appreciated.

    Peace,
    Tony

the literal translation should imo read "to the people" ...now, "the" might imply both, all the people in the world or a group of people mentioned ealier or specified at other places of the book...

        best wishes, Zlatan

          Peace be upon you,

We are told to "enter the gate prostrating", that would be entering the gates of the city. We know that the prostrating is symbolic of hearing and obeying. So the city would be the community within, the unseen community which consists of the jinn(thoughts/emotions).

THIS reading was descended on an Arab man in his language, the message is for all people. Whatever language you speak, you should be delivering the message to those people.

            Peace

Quran is with allah. He sends it down on who He wishes to lead them in the straight Way. What you have is the Book, the Key to Quran. Allah Himself teaches man Quran and its Bayan(explanations). None but Allah knows the HIKMAT, the Wisdom of the verses of Quran essential for life in both the worlds, the Universes and beyond that we know not.

But it is nothing less than a Message to all the worlds.

This Quran is even for the Bee. Allah teaches to all His creations, through His Wahy, that just what is necessary for their mission.

                Salaamun alaikum Tony,

To me, 41/44 gives the reasons why Al-Quraan is in Arabic. That is, because the messenger was an Arab and more importantly imho, to give detail to the book itself.

I learnt what little I know of Arabic after I came to the Quranic position but its very clear to me why Quranic Arabic can convey the message. This doesn't put Arabs in a better position. If anything, it puts them in a WORSE position because they have to purify thier perception of a given word (e.g. 'deen') before they can absorb the Quranic meaning.

                thanks and peace.

To Ton,brilliant research work you do,pity I didn?t agree with your conclusion though ? but still ,I hope this may enlighten you ,a little.

Sorry I am only putting this here for people to ponder.Thank you.

The word HAWLA used in the Quran

Their likeness is as the likeness of one who kindled a fire; then, when it lighted all (HAWLA) around him, Allah took away their light and left them in darkness. (So) they could not see. 217

And this is a Book which We have revealed bringing blessings and confirming (the revelations) which came before it that thou mayest warn the Mother of Cities and all (HAWLA) around her. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in this (Book) and they are constant in guarding their prayers. 692

And among the Arabs (HAWLA) around you, some are hypocrites, and so are some among the people of Al-Madinah, they exaggerate and persist in hypocrisy, you (O Muhammad SAW) know them not, We know them. We shall punish them twice, and thereafter they shall be brought back to a great (horrible) torment. 9101

Firaun (Pharaoh) said to those (HAWLA) around "Do you not hear (what he says)?" 2625

So HAWLA or around is to mean that something which is near or accessible or visible and not something hundred of miles far away.

"And O my people! Let not my Shiqaq cause you to suffer the fate similar to that of the people of Noah or of Hud or of Saleh, and the people of Lout are not (BacED) far off from you! 1189

When it (Hell) sees them from a (BAcED) far place, they will hear its raging and its roaring. 2512

                  014.004
YUSUFALI We sent not a messenger except (to teach) in the language of his (own) people, in order to make (things) clear to them. Now Allah leaves straying those whom He pleases and guides whom He pleases and He is Exalted in power, full of Wisdom.
PICKTHAL And We never sent a messenger save with the language of his folk, that he might make (the message) clear for them. Then Allah sendeth whom He will astray, and guideth whom He will. He is the Mighty, the Wise.
SHAKIR And We did not send any messenger but with the language of his people, so that he might explain to them clearly; then Allah makes whom He pleases err and He guides whom He pleases and He is the Mighty, the Wise.

                  For the Doc

It is in fact a message to the learned.

                  The quranic dictionary says(p385)

                  Alimina = Learned ones/The worlds.

We saved him, and we saved Lot, to the land that we blessed for the people.

So what land ,was it he went to and who was that for not the whole world ,surely as they can?t all live there .

If any brother knows the verse of sending messengers to all nations-appreciate it.

                  What is Deen?

                  Peace sister Shamsu,

I agree. The Arabic word "din" doesn't mean religion. It means "obligation". The closest word in the great reading to the concept of religion or creed is "millat".

All "millat"/religions are man made. The only good "millat" is that of the monotheist/"hanif" and even that is man-made because it is called the "millat" of Ibrahim and not the "millat" of Allah. However, Ibrahim was a good example and his "millat"/religion consists simply of the fact that submission/obedience/"islam" to The God is the only obligation/"din". Hence, everybody should follow Ibrahim's "millat"/religion.

                  What is Masjid Al-Haram?

It is the law forbidding/restricting evils in any country ,therefore each country has Masjid Al-Haram to which they keep their attentions .

                  002.150
Whencesoever thou comest forth turn your focus to the laws/the restrictions and wheresoever ye may be (O Muslims) keep your focus to it so that men may have no argument against you, save such of them as do injustice - Fear them not, but fear Me! - and so that I may complete My grace upon you, and that ye may be guided.

People will argue with you if you don?t fulfill your obligations or you keep breaking the law ? its common sense.
                  Salaams all.

                      Peace be upon you,

I have "alamin" as "knowledgables" (those with knowledge).

Regarding "hawla", and distance, where is the cut off line? It is being said that 'hawla" means something close, I see no evidence of that. If the "messenger" is moving around delivering the message, then there will always be new people "hawla" (around him/her).

How can a person have such a powerful message and only deliver it to the people right around him as if the whole world is not interconnected. You don't fix only the engine on a broke down car, you fix ALL the problems because you know that each part belongs to the WHOLE.

                          Peace upon you,

                          1. The example of those who take allies besides the god is like the spider how it makes a home; and the weakest home is the home of the spider, if they only knew.
                          2. The god knows that what they are calling on besides Him is nothing. He is the Noble, the Wise.

                            Peace upon you marie,

                            1. Allah said, ? I will make abundance for you as long as you remain loyal to the System. But, for those who disbelieve afterward, I will punish them as I have never punished anyone else/no one else from the worlds (alAAalameena) .?

In 5115, the god is adressing the followers of the messenger ?issa, telling that he will make abundance for them, as they acquired and accepted the knowledge that the messenger brought to them, then as long as they remain loyal to the system, the god will give them the good results of their efforts.

But, those from them who would disblieve after recieving such knowledge, would be punished a punishment that those who are knowlegeables would never taste.

Please read the context of this verse from verse 110.
