I wonder if any would be considered Muslims by God? angel

    Peace,

Humbling. I read this book entitled "Love For Allah" (can't remember the author) but in it there was a small story about how one man when asked if he was a Muslim would say "If it be the will of Allah."

    Peace,

    Amina

      Peace Bigmo,

A historical perpective about the beginings of the Quranist movement is refreshing
It gives a starting point for investigation
      Thanks

You stated in an earlier post
Now there should be another criteria but this is still a work in progress and that is nothing should be made binding that is not supported by an explicit verse from the Quran. Some Quranist still have a problem with this.

If you or anyone else could provide some details about their daily lives (Do they perform the salat,
or at jum'a is there a khutbah, do they celebrate eid etc.,) I would appreciate it.

      Peace O0

What I meant is those who only follow the Quran have a tendency to criticize those who wish to follow the Islamic rituals or previous scriptures. They see pilgrimage to Mecca as not authentic and have alternative explanations but they differ on it. While those who follow the hadiths that do not contradict the Quran and follow the Islamic rituals have a problem with those who don't perform thoe rituals as they do. The reason this is so is because they have not seen rituals as a means to an end but see them as an end by themselves. Quranist who come from islamic background or even Judaic background have that tendency. In time people will realize that there are different ways to worship God and rituals are a means to an end. There is no standard rituals in the Quran that has to be done in a specific way. There are guidelines for us to follow. The Quranist persuasion has a lot of individualism in it.

        Peace Bigmo,

        Thank you for the information.
There will always be differences of opinion, but I don't think it's a good idea to make
wholesale changes that will divide and alienate us. The removal of rituals that have
no Quranic verses requiring them will only bring division. For example
        no khutbah at Jum'a!
        no required number of rakat's
with no required number of rakat's, the question becomes how many rakats
in congregational prayer do we make?
would maghrib still be three rakat's
It appears that those who rely only on the Quran have moved too far in the other direction.
While it is admirable for those who have broken away from those who have violated
the shahadah, i.e, the many different sects, we must remember that upholding the
shahadah should be our main focus and that bickering over details can create divisions
        if we are not careful.

        This verse is appropriate
You shall hold fast to the rope of GOD, all of you, and do not be divided. Recall GOD's blessings upon you-you used to be enemies and He reconciled your hearts. By His grace, you became brethren. You were at the brink of a pit of fire, and He saved you therefrom. GOD thus explains His revelations for you, that you may be guided.

I personally don't see myself as a "Quranist", but as a muslim who wants to follow the Quran alone.
You did not have to follow the Quran to be a muslim (Islam predates the Quran).
Abraham is the first one to Coin the name "muslim" 2278...

About following other scripture. The Quran clearly differentiates between scriptures, *there should be no mish-matching and upholding of other scriptures.

Then we revealed to you this scripture, truthfully, confirming previous scriptures, and superseding them. You shall rule among them in accordance with GOD's revelations, and do not follow their wishes if they differ from the truth that came to you. For each of you, we have decreed laws and different rites. Had GOD willed, He could have made you one congregation. But He thus puts you to the test through the revelations He has given each of you. You shall compete in righteousness. To GOD is your final destiny - all of you - then He will inform you of everything you had disputed.

And Thank you Bigmo for pointing out Aisha Musa's video. I have forgot about it. May it be useful God willing.

            Peace youssef4342,

I agree with the notion that the Quran is the final revelation and that the other scriptures
            have been corrupted.

Your point of view is appreciated, can you expand on your views about Friday
khutbah which from my understanding is not in Quran Kareem.

Peace be with you as well,

              I would like to expound

I do NOT believe in total corruption of the Previous scriptures. I have found many similarities and cross references across scriptures, around 300 from the Quran cross reference to the previous scriptures (this is not counting the many times that the previous scriptures can cross reference back to the Quran).
The previous scriptures have many authors, and thus one cannot just lump them all together as "falsehood". I see truth in the previous scriptures, much more truth than falsehood i would say.

I personally do not believe in a friday "khutbah" or sermon. This is not in the Quran. however, a verse pointing to religious/Quranic study like 9122,3829 4724, 482.

This is of course from my current beliefs. God knows better.

As for the Kutbah, how would you have Jum'a conducted.
Would it be salat and disperse
should it be announcements, salat, disperse or some sort of variation of the Kutbah.

The important part is what the Quran has to say and not what me and you think. You missed interpreted the verse you quoted.

                  5.43-48 But why do they come to thee for decision, when they have their Torah before them?- therein is the (plain) command of Allah. yet even after that, they would turn away. For they are not (really) People of Faith. It was We who revealed the law (to Moses) therein was guidance and light. By its standard have been judged the Jews, by the prophets who bowed (as in Islam) to Allah.s will, by the rabbis and the doctors of law for to them was entrusted the protection of Allah.s book, and they were witnesses thereto therefore fear not men, but fear me, and sell not my signs for a miserable price. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) Unbelievers. We ordained therein for them "Life for life, eye for eye, nose or nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal." But if any one remits the retaliation by way of charity, it is an act of atonement for himself. And if any fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (No better than) wrong-doers. And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the Law that had come before him We sent him the Gospel therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the Law that had come before him a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah. Let the people of the Gospel judge by what Allah hath revealed therein. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) those who rebel. To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety so judge between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each among you have we prescribed a law and an open way. If Allah had so willed, He would have made you a single people, but (His plan is) to test you in what He hath given you so strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah. it is He that will show you the truth of the matters in which ye dispute;

The Quran will not order people to follow something corrupted or illigetimate. What the verses are saying is that the Torah is a community, the Injeel is a community and the Quran is a community. One religion and one faith but different communities. Each community will be judged according to how much it adheres to the scripture it inherited.

This is identical with this verse

Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve

Once again what is important is what the Quran says and not our personal views.

                    Bigmo,

My view is actually in line with yours.
I do not believe in Mixing and matching commandments from the Torah & the Quran (To each is own Laws and commandments).

Yes, as you can disperse after doing salat. We are not obligated to stick around.

I agree. My understanding is that they were given to a different people at different times because that is what was needed. I do find similarities in what was given, however.

                          Peace,

Conclusion Quranist and Quran-alone muslims are one and the same.
Both it seems accept only what is in Quran.
They do believe in the ritual salat or the Khutbah

God-Alone muslims believe the Quran, other scriptures where they do not contradict
                          Quran and the rituals.
And finally none of these groups believe in the ahadith.

In the khutbas I heard, I heard more praise to Muhammad than to God... and I heard the imam reffering to ahadith to proof his point. So I dont see any reason for why i shall waste my time in listening to 'Khutbah''.

Should we even ATTEND jumuah? I was thinking about that over the weekend...is it right to pray behind anyone that is not praying according to the Qur'an? That's an entirely new thread... ;D

                                Peace Amina.

There are those who abuse the masjid by practicing idol worship, dividing the believers, and providing comfort to those who oppose God and His messenger. They solemnly swear "Our intentions are honorable!" God bears witness that they are liars.

Any masjid where the practices are not devoted absolutely to God ALONE belongs to other than God.

You shall never pray in such a masjid. A masjid that is established on the basis of righteousness from the first day is more worthy of your praying therein. In it, there are people who love to be purified. God loves those who purify themselves

                                I hope this helps.
                                Peace.

In the khutbas I heard, I heard more praise to Muhammad than to God... and I heard the imam reffering to ahadith to proof his point. So I dont see any reason for why i shall waste my time in listening to 'Khutbah''.
                                  Peace

                                  Peace Maha,

I agree, i've been having the exact same experience at masjids.

What I was refering to was, in the event that we find ourselves at a masjid of our liking,
                                  would the khutbah be welcome.

                                  Peace O0

                                    My understanding

Quranist the way of interpreting the text of the book as literally as possible, rejecting the sunnah.
God Alone the way of looking at the text the way god intended it.
Quran Alone taking the book, ignoring the sunnah.

Your understanding and my understanding are the same at the moment.
I further conclude, the Quranist and Quran-Alone muslims are more restrictive
in their deen than the God-Alone muslims.

                                        Peace All,

My preliminary conclusion as far as what name/title we should be addressed
should be submitters (muslims) despite disagreements. Those who have not corrupted
the shahadah and no matter what problems we have to work out between us should be
                                        considered one.

In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.*
Praise be to GOD, Lord of the universe.
                                        Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
Master of the Day of Judgment.
You alone we worship; You alone we ask for help.
                                        Guide us in the right path;
the path of those whom You blessed; not of those who have deserved wrath, nor of the strayers.

Say, "We believe in GOD, and in what was sent down to us, and in what was sent down to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Patriarchs; and in what was given to Moses and Jesus, and all the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction among any of them. To Him alone we are submitters."

When Jesus sensed their disbelief, he said, "Who are my supporters towards GOD?" The disciples said, "We are GOD's supporters; we believe in GOD, and bear witness that we are submitters.

Say, "O followers of the scripture, let us come to a logical agreement between us and you that we shall not worship except GOD; that we never set up any idols besides Him, nor set up any human beings as lords beside GOD." If they turn away, say, "Bear witness that we are submitters."

                                        WE ARE ONE

                                        O0

                                          Peace,

All "ists" or "isms" I now find unacceptable

                                          ist
suffix of nouns, often corresponding to verbs ending in -ize or nouns ending in -ism, that denote a person who practices or is concerned with something, or holds certain principles, doctrines, etc. apologist; dramatist; machinist; novelist; realist; socialist; Thomist.

ism system of belief a movement, doctrine, or system of belief ( informal )

Those who divide themselves into sects do not belong with you. Their judgment rests with GOD, then He will inform them of everything they had done.

You shall submit to Him, reverence Him, observe the Contact Prayers (Salat), and - whatever you do - do not ever fall into idol worship.
(Do not fall in idol worship,) like those who divide their religion into sects; each party rejoicing with what they have.

Ironically, they broke up into sects only after the knowledge had come to them, due to jealousy and resentment among themselves. If it were not for a predetermined decision from your Lord to respite them for a definite interim, they would have been judged immediately. Indeed, the later generations who inherited the scripture are full of doubts.

Abraham Delivered All the Practices of Submission (Islam)

As Abraham raised the foundations of the shrine, together with Ismail (they prayed) "Our Lord, accept this from us. You are the Hearer, the Omniscient.

"Our Lord, make us submitters to You, and from our descendants let there be a community of submitters to You. Teach us the rites of our religion, and redeem us. You are the Redeemer, Most Merciful.

"Our Lord, and raise among them a messenger to recite to them Your revelations, teach them the scripture and wisdom, and purify them. You are the Almighty, Most Wise."

Who would forsake the religion of Abraham, except one who fools his own soul? We have chosen him in this world, and in the Hereafter he will be with the righteous.

When his Lord said to him, "Submit," he said, "I submit to the Lord of the universe."

Moreover, Abraham exhorted his children to do the same, and so did Jacob "O my children, GOD has pointed out the religion for you; do not die except as submitters."

I find at the moment all tags and identities other than muslim (submitter) are unacceptable.

May ALLAH Guide us to the truth.

                                          Peace O0
