Gay Marriages?
-
Greetings and Peace, all group
Salam to all,
I havent posted in awhile here, Ive been very busy with my new job as the elected President of my community. I know there are many very intelligent, wise and humble people on this forum and I have learned alot from many of you over the years. I am hoping you can help me an issue that is becoming rather heated in my community. Our current ordinance allows only marriage between a man and a woman. We do have some gay and lesbian people in our community also, but now they are trying to petition the council to change the ordinance to allow gay marriages. I am personally against this 100%, and I will do my best to prevent it from happening, but can you help me think through this topic from a Quranic, God alone perspective. Am I being unjust or unfair to them, would I be condoning sin if I allowed it, etc. Please discuss and advise, I really want to make the best decision I can without breaking Gods laws.
Respectfully,
KurtLook at it this way; a person of LBGT orientation will not change with (or without) marriage/civil union. A marriage/civil union between two persons formalizes a monogamous relationship.
Separate but equal does not work; separate is NOT equal. If application of law is unequal, are our measurements fair? We are commanded to not be short in measurement--doesn't this apply to more than weighing tangible goods? Further, we are instructed that there is no compulsion in the Deen.
There have been serious doubts cast on homosexuality being forbidden.
One such thread http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9601872.40
Lewdness is forbidden. Is it more lewd, or less lewd for two persons of the same sex to be intimate when they are formally committed to each other? If it is less lewd, then to deny the opportunity for formal commitment is tantamount to encouraging lewdness.
Grant all qualified applicants (gay or not) civil unions, if gay marriage is not possible. This way, all will be equal before the law. Otherwise, grant all qualified applicants (gay or not) marriage .

Same sex marriage is the same crime ppl of LOT (Peace be upon him) used to do, Allah destroyed them, Now u can find their remains in Dead Sea. Read Holy Quran?s
?What! You commit the immoral with males, and cut off the roads; and you speak evilly in your gatherings?? So his people had no answer except to say, ?Bring the punishment of Allah upon us if you are truthful!?

The males of the city of Lot were not considering marriage to other men, they were considering raping other men. peace

Greetings and peace, all group
Peace,
which person gives the dowry
how does inheritance work
is there still a period of waiting before finalizing the "divorce"
who gets to stay in the home
who is responsible for upkeepPeace O0
Are these same questions applied to ALL marriages? hmm Even so, if these questions are presented up front to all petitioners, it is possible to resolve them. Just because there isn't a "one size fits all" solution doesn't mean that no solution is plausible (on a case by case basis).

@YAMU Have you considered the points brought up in other threads, such as http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9601872.40? The thread referenced can be continued if there is additional input (or another thread can be started so as to not derail this one).

I think I just conjecture according to my whim, because I'm going to change my mindset to not imitate any persons, but my stand point and ideology. I don't want anybody force me to be mine, except Allah, who shows me to the right path. I'm not a nice guy, but a Muslim who would like to be submitted the God's word.

Peace.
The Example is given with the people of LotNOTICE! This Example was NOT pointing at Rape, it was pointed at homosexual Intimacy
"You practice sex with the men, instead of the women. Indeed, you are a transgressing people." (780-
Lot stated "Do you have sex with the males, of all the people? "You forsake the wives that your Lord has created for you! Indeed, you are transgressing people." (26165-166)
If the people of lot were transgressing because of their Homosexual act, then are not modern people who commit homosexuality transgressing too?

"You forsake the wives that your Lord has created for you!
I see the story of Lot different. I see this not as 2 ppl committed in a union, but men already married to women, seeking to commit adultery with men and perhaps raping men who come into the city. That is pretty bad. Men are not to leave their wives in a state of void (4129). So not only were the wives God gave them not enough they went even further. Hope that makes sense.
I feel there is something different about giving into lust and heinous acts for ones pleasure, than there is to coming out and saying you are not interested at all in the opposite sex, never would marry the opposite sex. However, you are attracted to the same sex and wish to be monogamous with them. Can you help who you are attracted too? I know I can't. If there is no attraction, how do you marry that person and be intimate?
I hope I am making sense. I just not comfortable judging others. No one wakes up and says... I am bored, I think I will be gay and risk loosing my family, friends, job... and make my life difficult. I am not saying everyone is this way, some do it for sexual fantasies. I just don't think everyone has the choice.
They still have rights, still human beings, capable of love, pain, fear, all the things us humans encounter. It is not for us to place the judgement upon them. Be fair and leave it to God's judgement. IMO

well, It didn't say that these Men were Married, it states that they Forsake the "Mates" (Azwaj), that God created for you. Also, whatever you are attracted too, Men, women, or even children (as i have seen in a documantary about a past catholic priest being attracted to children)... We are instructed to keep/guard our chastity until marriage... So no premarital intimate relationships for anyone, in my opinion.
