O CHILDREN OF ISRAEL! call to mind the (special) favour which I bestowed upon you and fulfil your covenant with Me as I fulfil My covenant with you and fear none but Me. And believe in what I reveal confirming the revelation, which is with you, and be not the first to reject faith therein nor sell My Signs for a small price and fear Me and Me alone. And cover not Truth with falsehood nor conceal the Truth when ye know (what it is). And ESTABLISH THE PRAYER; practice regular charity; and bow down with those who bow down. 240/41/42/43

But those among them (JEWS) who are well-grounded in knowledge and the believers believe in what hath been revealed to thee; and (especially) those who ESTABLISH THE PRAYER and practice regular charity and believe in Allah and in the Last Day to them shall We soon give a great reward. 4162

Which PRAYERS the CHILDREN OF ISRAEL should uphold? The NEW (HADITH) PRAYERS of the Muslims or their EXISTING PRAYERS taught by prophet Moses?

But We delivered him and (his nephew) Lut (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations. And We bestowed upon him ls-haq and Ya qub as a grandson; and each one We made righteous. And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We INSPIRED unto them the DOINGS of good deeds and ESTABLISHING THE PRAYERS, and the giving of charity and of Us they were the worshippers. 2173

How could the people of the Book abandon their PRAYER, which was inspired to their prophets, and follow the prayers of the Muslims, not detailed in the Quran. Is this not disbelieving in the prayers of their BOOKS and prophets?

Do ye (CHILDREN OF ISRAEL) enjoin right conduct on the people and forget (to practice it) yourselves and yet ye study the Scripture? Will ye not understand? And SEEK HELP in patience and PRAYER and verily it is, hard except prayer unto the meek. 244/45

O ye who BELIEVE! SEEK HELP in patience and PRAYER for Allah is with those who patiently persevere. 2153

The CHILDREN OF ISRAEL and the BELIEVERS (MUSLIMS) are commanded to SEEK HELP in PRAYERS.

Which PRAYERS the CHILDREN OF ISRAEL should uphold?

Their own EXISTING PRAYERS or the NEW Muslim PRAYERS

Nor did the PEOPLE OF THE BOOK make schisms until after there came to them Clear Evidence. And they have been COMMANDED no more than this to worship Allah offering Him sincere devotion being True (in faith); to ESTABLISH THE PRAYERS; and to practice regular Charity; and that is the Religion Right and Straight. 984/5

The People of the Book were COMMANDED to ESTABLISH THE PRAYERS, which was revealed to prophet Moses and prophet Jesus and taught to them

In the Quran there is no COMMAND to the PEOPLE OF THE BOOK to follow the Muslim PRAYERS but to believe in the quran and as a revelation from Allah.

If the people of the Book follow the Muslim PRAYERS then they are DISOBEYING the COMMAND of Allah.

He (Allah) has ordained for YOU the SAME RELIGION which He ordained for NOAH, and that which We have INSPIRED in you and that which We ORDAINED for Abraham, Moses and Jesus saying you should establsh religion, and make no divisions in it Intolerable for the Mushrikun, is that to which you call them. Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills, and guides unto Himself who turns to Him in repentance and in obedience. 4213

The same religion and the same inspiration then why different SALAAT

    Thanks

My understanding is that God sends different rituals (eg. prayer rituals) to different communities through their messengers.
Sura 2267 For each congrgation we have decreed a set of rites that they must uphold.

God could have made every congregation the same but the differences between them are there as a test.
Sura 11118 and Sura 1693 Had your Lord willed all the people would have been one congregation.

Sura 548 For each of you we have decreed different rites. Had God willed , he could have made you one congregation. But he tus puts you to the test through the revelations he has given each of you. You shall compete in righteousness.

Prayers are prayers. There is nothing called a Muslim prayer or a Jewish one or a Jesus one or Moses one or Muhammad one. That is organized religion and not scriptures. There are guidelines to be used but there is a variety allowed.

            Salam Hafeez
            Thank you for sharing

How could the people of the Book abandon their PRAYER, which was inspired to their prophets, and follow the prayers of the Muslims, not detailed in the Quran. Is this not disbelieving in the prayers of their BOOKS and prophets?

The prayers are not in the Torah nor the Indschil, and not even in the Psalms or in the Koran accurately detailed.
However, Jews and Christians worship similar to Muslims - so how it could come?
And if it is not explained in detail, then variations are allowed. God does not demand of us a stubborn RITUAL, HE like devotion and ISLAM.
Why complicate things when they are easy?
            Salam
