Worried and Uncertain about the future

Me, I love to talk about the future. Of course I always bring Qoran into it.
But once I start , the conversation goes on and on and on like this
This is what my Lord says
5720 Know that this worldly life is no more than play and games, and boasting among you , and hoarding of wealth and children. It is like rain that produces plants, then the plants turn into hay and are blown away by the wind. In the hereafter, there is either severe retribution or forgiveness from GOD and approval. This worldly life is no more than a temporary illusion!?
647 Those who disbelieve claim that they will not be resurrected! Yes indeed by your Lord, you will be resurrected and you will be held accountable for everything you have done. This is easy for GOD to do.?
6723 Say? HE is the ONE who initiated you, granted you the hearing , the eyesight and the brain. Rarely are you appreciative.?
6724 Say? HE is the ONE who placed you on earth and before HIM you will be summoned.?
( Or do you know differently? Where do you go after you die? Maybe you do not wake up at all?)
6837 Do you have another book to uphold??
6838 In it , do you find anything you want??
6839 Or have have you received solemn assurances from Us that grant you whatever you wish on the day of Resurrection??
6840 Ask them? Who guarantees this for you?? ?
6841 Do they have idols? Let their idols help them, if they are truthful!?
6842 The day will come when they will be exposed, and they will be required to fall prostrate, but they will be unable to.?
6842 With their eyes subdued, humiliation will cover them. They were invited to fall prostrate ( submit and be loyal to GOD ALONE) when they were whole and able.? ( during this life!)
7220 Say? I worship only my Lord. ( totally loyal) I never set up any idols beside HIM.?
7222 Say? No one can protect me from GOD, nor can I find any refuge beside HIM.? ( If I followed other idols/ sources)
7510 The human being will say on that day ( day of Resurrection)? Where is the escape?? ?
7511Absolutely, there is no escape!?
7512 To your Lord on that day is the final destiny.?
826 O human being, what diverted you from your Lord most Honourable??
827 The ONE who created you, designed you and perfected you.?
829 Indeed you disbelieve in the (true) religion.? ( submission and total loyalty to your Lord!)

846 O humans, you are irreversibly heading for a meeting with your Lord.?
( The ONE GOD, the only Lord, only judge, only redeemer!)
2255 GOD, there is no god besides HIM, the Living, the Eternal. Never a moment of unawareness or slumber overtakes HIM. To HIM belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth. Who could intercede with HIM, except in accordance with HIS will? HE knows their past (present) and their future. No one attains any knowledge except as HE wills. HIS dominion encompasses the heavens and the earth, and ruling them never burdens HIM. HE is the Most High, the Great.?
4147 What will GOD gain from punishing you , if you became appreciative and believed? GOD is Appreciative, Knower.?
4110 Anyone who commits evil ( sins?) or wrongs themselves, then implores GOD for forgiveness, will find GOD forgiving, Most Merciful.?
651 And preach to those who reverence the summoning before their Lord .( To submit and be loyal to GOD) They have none beside HIM as lord and master, nor intercessor; That they may attain salvation.
682 Those who believe ( submit) and do not pollute their belief with idol worship (stay loyal to GOD) have deserved the perfect security and they are truly guided.
694 You will come back to Us as individuals, just as we created you the first time and you will leave behind what we provided for you. ( all your possessions of this life!) We do not see with you the intercessors ( idols) that you idolised and claimed that they will help you. All ties among you have been severed. The idols you set up ( in this life) have abandoned you.?
6115 If you obey the majority of people on earth, they will divert you from the path of GOD. They follow only conjecture; They only guess.?
6149 Say? GOD possesses the most powerful argument; If HE wills HE can guide you all."
By this time , I will be talking to myself. They have disappeared!.

I'm sorry to hear about the situation with your husband. Perhaps your influence will help him see things differently, God willing. I feel a little scared for you though &, sometimes allegiance to this perceived character of Prophet Muhammed is so strong, that it can turn a person angry and violent towards those who resist. Don't mind me giving you this advice of treading carefully, sister.
He embraced this way of life when he was in prison..at a time when he probably felt really down and had a lot of time to try and find some meaning in his life, and then he found what he understands to be the Truth. It reminds of me of Malcolm X in prison finding Islam and then subsequently..turning his entire life around for the better. It would probably be too emotionally taxing to try and even question those convictions that hold one together. However, we'll pray that he comes around and his mind awakens to what it really means to submit, God willing.

I know what you're saying. I had a friend I used to talk to who was raised Protestant. A seemingly normal guy with a good sense of humor, and he was really laid back about most things. He converted to the Sunni sect and now it's like you can't even recognize him. Sometimes I felt like I was talking to a robot; an angry, intolerant robot with a victim mentality. He's come a complete fanatic and there is no way it seems to break that.

I think for African American men it gives them some sense of importance in a world where the feel so worthless. Unfortunately, many of them don't see that self worth comes from within, not from education, wealth, or social status. They become apathetic...and turn to violence and crime to make a way for themselves.
I am not afraid of him one bit. Once I realized that he has to rely on he knowledge of others to get by, he no longer became a threat spiritually for me. Insha'Allah, I will continue to grow stronger.

"Self-worth comes from within" So true. I've known people with all of the material comforts of this world..but still lacking in self-esteem and self-worth. Though, I think that education and being financially comfortable can alleviate some of the stresses of life and allow one to feel better about themselves. I think it was Malcolm X who said that education was the passport to the future. Of course, education in itself can be defined in so many ways. I think your husband is very blessed to have you in his life as you are blessed to have him.

I've only seen the move where I think it was Denzel Washington that acts in it? Very impressive and one of my all time favorites. I think that if he were around today..perhaps he would join our little movement here..God only knows.

Most older African American muslims I know came to Islam from the Nation, so I know all too well what you are talking about. Many of them still hold on to it, even though they claim they don't. One thing I tend to hear from those types is the phrase "my/our people." Tips me off every time.

I didn't see the movie until after I converted to Islam...I too found it to be a beautiful story, but a harsh reminder of what following someone who seems educated and spiritually enlightened can do.

I have a lady at work who's husband is, what i found out to be a member of the NOI.
She was talking about this "Supreme wisdom" book that he has , besides the Quran, which i didn't know about until i looked it up.... She seemingly just goes by what her husband goes, but hey she's a nice lady, she's not strict or anything.Also, I met another guy a couple months ago who was form the "Moorish science temple of America", who invited me to his temple. But i didn't time or means of going.... That was the first time i ever heard of such a thing.

I have never heard of it either...I do know about the newsletter they send out monthly. They tend to be very nice, and act very graciously towards any muslims they meet (I have come across one gentleman who smiled ear to ear upon seeing a covered muslimah driving past).
I can see just how the NOI had such an influence on African-Americans to be honest...it gave them a way to feel important, educated, and was more than likely an outlet for thier anger after years of racism.
It's my understanding that Elijah Muhammed's son, W. Deen Muhammed, changed the way the NOI practiced Islam after his father's death. Supposedly they follow the Qur'an now...
