I'm an American woman who found Islam about 9 years ago. I'm here because my personal beliefs no longer fit in with what is considered main stream Islam, and I don't know how to deal with it or how to tell people. I need some guidance.

I was immeidately attracted to it because it seemed simple and clear cut. I prayed faithfully, fasted enthusiastically, and started wearing hijab almost immediately because that's what I thought was expected of me. I learned from sources mostly online, but also by reading books, watching videos, and learning from other Muslims.
Islam for me filled in so many holes in belief that I had as a Christian. I was taught how the Bible was so corrupt and I realized that I couldn't possibly base my beliefs on something obviously not divine. Now I find myself feeling the same way about Hadith.

I just don't understand how a religion which is supposed to be complete and easy to understand has become something that some Muslims claim cannot be fully understood, especailly without understanding Arabic or being a scholar.
The Quran claims to be a book fully detailed, yet so many things exist in Hadith that are not even mentioned in Quran. Would God really forget to leave these things out? NO.

I know that the majority of you in this forum know all of these things already, or have at least thought about them, or else you wouldn't be here. I just needed to get it out.

I'm really not sure what I believe anymore. I don't really know what to call myself. I don't know what steps to take next, as I am in a sticky situation in a failing marriage living in Saudi Arabia of all places.
    Thanks for listening.

      Salaam sister,

Welcome to the forum and no handshake with you as you are now in Saudi Arabia , I believe handshaking is a no no there.

Indeed most of us were on the same situation as yours now. The first step is the hardest then when you finally make that step inshaAllah, He will help you in everything that is good for you. Just hold strong ONLY to The Book Allah gave you and what He inspires to you and InshaAllah you will be always fine.

Salaam and may Allah always keep you on His Path,
      Bender

            Greetings and Peace, all group

            @questioner05 welcome

Isn't it good to be Guided? sun Guidance has value--popularity/conformance offer transient comfort. What does AQ have to say on the subject? hmm

6116 And if you obey most of those on the earth they will lead you away from the path of GOD; that is because they follow conjecture, and that is because they only guess.

Perhaps you've had a chance to consider some of the articles on the main page?

2856 You cannot guide whom you love. But it is GOD who guides whom He wills; and He is fully aware of those who receive the guidance.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.

May ALLAH see fit to Guide all seekers.

            peace

            ~Abdul-Hadi

your story is almost the same as mine-and I accepted the Sunni Islam and lived until the bitter end. Blessed be God that he has awakened us and guided to the right path! Be just careful because you are in a difficult situation - but I trust in God. He will give you strength and help you. It is always difficult to admit that one has followed a phantom. However, everything has a meaning, and also the fact that you are sitting now in Saudi. The Prophet once was all alone group
