Is Begging Allah for forgiveness an option"quote any ay

just wondering is Beggery allowed in the quranic islam-i.e Begging Allahs forgiveness?
If you know of any such ayats relating to this forward it please.- Astagfar ,i suppose is the closest but is this referring to Beggery,or something other.
QD Says its "acts leading to the covering up of ones sins and shortcomings."

Gafar= (also means) to set the afairs right ,to supress the defects.God Bless.

Thanks Taj,i didn't know any such ayats where their -but looking at them closely ,i am afraid to say there isn't any Beggery as such may be a bit of a mistranslation;let me explain,From lanes p2752.
Naadaya=A calamity that presses heavily and distresses.2187
Dhun-Nun And (remember) (jonah) when he went off in anger and imagined that never we have power over him then when afflicted with hardships (came around) that no god but you Glorified are you truly i have been (from)of the wrong doers.
(Or there about.)
May be the word given may have different meanings in other places ,But of course Allah can read our thoughts and Knows our intentions and the moment we change these Allah no dought would know and doesn't need us to shout out or something.
Gafar = set the affairs right/supress the defect.Thus we show allah our inclination to change and i suppose Allah then forgives us,and guides.
If you think all this is rubbish talk would apreciate rebuttal or something.

I agree.
There is no word in the Qur'aan that can be correctly translated as prayer either. The Old English usage is a little different. In contemporary English this word is mainly reserved for religious concepts. The words Du?a and Salat are in the Reading used by God for Himself. To whom would He be praying or as they say ?making Du?a?? They are best understood as ?invite? and ?commitment?. I find no praying in the Reading, only action. As you say, God hears our thoughts and knows our intentions as they are formed. No need for a separate proclamation. The idea of prayer is purely a manmade concept.

Taj, the ayats you have quoted say Thun Nun prayed in the depth of darkness and Allah listened to his prayer. If the Nabi has cried aloud Allah would have heard his shouting. Thun Nun was only crying in humility within his self and Allah saw His concealed cry and listened to his heart seeking pardon and change in attitude. Seeking pardon is correcting one's own mistake. Not begging with loud cries.
' Quran ' does not have such ayats as Begging For Pardon.

I agree with Grourself and the Doctor. "Prayer" is a made up concept. The God does not change the condition of people until they change what is in thier minds(nafs). They have to change thier perceptions and the God's guidance will be seen once again.
