Salam to everyone.
Are there any chances that the hoor-al-ayns mentioned in the Qur'an are actually referring to the righteous people (both males and females) recreated from this earth?
"Enter paradise, together with your spouses, in happiness." (4370)
Reading the above verse, it's really frustrating and hard to believe that if I ever, by the will of God, go to paradise, I will have to be with some heavenly creature despite having my wife whom I really love like crazy. brickwall brickwall brickwall '( '( '( '( '( '( Firstly, everyone will enter paradise in happiness with their spouses, and soon after entering they will be running behind some hoors?? -X brickwall '( '(
It just doesn't make sense to me anymore!! Can you all help me please, and share your thoughts on this topic? '(
P.S. I'm not married yet, but we are madly in love and soon to be get married, insha'Allah.

How is it possible for anyone to tell you? Who has been to paradise and came back to tell the tale?
As for Qoran, every time paradise is mentioned , it says " Mathal" ie Allegory. In short no one knows!
Whoever claims this or that ,are only guessing. The Lord s descriptions are all allegorical.
You are going to have to trust the Lord. He is the only judge and the fairest one at that. Neither you nor your spouse will be unjustly treated. I am certain of that, from what the Lord promises His believers.
Relax ,Do not worry, if you stay loyal to your creator. Your reward will be fair and just.
Peace.

Salam, good logic.
Can you please give me a verse where it says "mathal"?
And can you also give your definition for the word "allegory"?
Thanks

Salaam Scribbler,
Above quoted aayat does not talk about "hoor" and the word "jannat" which is used in above aayat is not referring to afterlife "jannat". Please click here to see what I mean.
Hope this may help you somehow inshaAllah.

I read the link you gave, and I think I understood your point. But even before reading it, I've always felt that Adam already WAS present in this world in a state of what I would call "felicity". And after sinning, Allah banished him from that state until a term appointed.
Although I really appreciate your research, if you read 4370 in context, it becomes clear without even a shadow of a doubt that in here Allah is actually talking about the jannah of the afterlife.
4366 Are they merely waiting for the Hour, which will come upon them suddenly and take them unawares?
4367 On that Day, friends will become each others enemies, except the righteous
4368 O My servants, you need not fear this Day, nor shall you grieve
4369 those who believed in Our revelations and surrendered themselves to Us.
4370 Enter the Garden rejoicing, both you and your spouses!
4371 Dishes and goblets of gold will be passed around them with all that their souls desire and their eyes delight in. There you will remain forever
4372 this is the Garden which you will inherit by virtue of your past deeds,
4373 and there is abundant fruit in it for you to eat.
4374 As for the evil-doers, they shall endure forever the torment of Hell,
4375 from which there is no relief they will remain there in utter despair. Please read this verses also
They and their spouses will recline on couches in the shade therein. (3656)
"Our Lord, and admit them into the gardens of Eden which You had promised for them and for those who did good of their fathers, their spouses, and their progeny. You are the Noble, the Wise." (40
And those who believed, and their progeny also followed them in belief; We will have their progeny join them. We never fail to reward them for any work. Every person is paid for what he did. (5221)
Considering the verses above along with 4370, It does appear that the righteous will be joined with their righteous earthly counterparts.
And I DON'T want hoor-al-ayn in the afterlife. I only want my wife from this earth. What are your views on hoor? Please share.

The Quran tells us so whenever such descriptions occur as independent statements, not within a general subject. See 224-26, 1335, and 4715.The word "Mathal" (allegory) is used in these verses. Linguistically, the word "Mathal" in these verses can be removed, and we still have perfect sentences. But it is there because the descriptions of Heaven and Hell are allegorical. What Heaven and Hell are really like is far beyond our comprehension. Hence the need for allegory.
" Allegory" is a description of something you have never seen or touched or felt... etc. For example if you never heard of or seen or tasted some food and I tried to describe it to you. I will use " Allegory" ie examples of other foods you know. But until you see it and taste it, you will never know what it is.
Peace.

Peace Scribbler,
hmm, never thought that a believer would have doubts about heaven
It's called heaven for a reason you will have what you want.
Heaven defined
religion perfect dwelling place after death a place or condition of supreme happiness and peace where good people are believed to go after death,
What Quran is telling you is that heaven is bliss and you will not be disappointed.

Salamun Alaykum, hawkninetynine.
I do not have any doubt about heaven. I come from a Sunni family where I've never liked and couldn't find any sense regarding the whole idea about the so-called "houris/heavenly creatures" reserved in paradise for the righteous. I just never felt it to be right (May God forbid if I'm wrong). I gave up on hadith after reading and analysing the Qur'an carefully. And so far, many of the wrong teachings of ahadith have been tackled using the Qur'an alone by people. I thought if I follow the Qur'an alone, I will be able to find out the twist in the translations made by traditionalists regarding the words "hooun Aaeenun; qasirat attarf etc." But unfortunately, I still haven't found anyone to solve the whole mystery behind "hoor".
I would totally love to agree on this article here on free-minds
http//www.free-minds.org/companions-heaven
But I'm not sure if the author has made any mistakes in it. But it's amazing, and makes a lot of sense.
And brother, I'm not alone into this matter.
Here's a link of an article regarding hoor-al-ayn, below which you'll be able to see so many people commenting about this matter, especially females, who are extremely heart broken while some have confessed to have got their Iman affected 'cause they are finding it really hard to accept the whole idea about the "hoors in jannah"
http//www.teenperspectives.com/hoor-al-ayn-a-personal-view/
And here's another link of an article, where a lady is saying that she's becoming mentally ill after she heard about the whole concept of "hoors in jannah"
http//www.ummah.com/forum/showthread.php?294948-mentally-ill-cannot-pray-or-fast!!!and-about-the-hoor-al-ayn
Isn't all the news about paradise and the rewards supposed to be happy for all of us? The question is, why is the traditional translation concerning "hoor"causing so much distress among the Muslims? I think this is something to ponder about.
Peace.

Peace Scribbler,
What I have found in my short time here at free minds is that people violate the definitions
of words, that is why you see me posting so many definitions.Heaven is a good place were nothing bad happens, it is bliss.
You cannot attribute a negative to heaven, a negative defies the definition,
this means there is a misunderstanding by the reader.Isn't all the news about paradise and the rewards supposed to be happy for all of us?
the answer is yes

You can ponder if you choose but remember, it must "fit" the definition of heaven.
If you intend to ponder "hoors in jannah" allegory deserves your attention.

Salamun Alaykum.
I totally agree with you. Heaven is a good place where nothing bad happens. And I was not attributing anything negative to heaven. But if anything IS wrong or goes against a general concept, then it should most probably be the translation, although I don't completely accuse the translators. And in this case, I'm only trying to find out the truth 'cause the traditional interpretation sounds really fishy. If anything is wrong then it's us, fallible human beings, and can never be God's infallible, perfect creation and system.

There are certain things that we have to leave to God to explain to us.
I am not saying we should not be asking questions, but to stop ,think and realise that may be we need to reach a level in which some questions can be answered to us.
After all if we can have all our answers and there is no more to ask, does that mean that it is the end? God and the Angels have come down and everything has been cleared up?
Our " Iman" needs to grow as our creator is guiding us towards our answers. What is clear to one is foggy to another and what is proof to some is folly to others etc...
God requires us to " trust " Him completely and without any doubt inside our hearts. He wants us to rely on Him Alone and no one else for our " deen/system".
Please keep studying Qoran and keep asking His author to guide/explain/ help.
Peace brother.

Salaam GL,
Only certain things? hmm

743 And We will have removed whatever is within their breasts of resentment, flowing beneath them are rivers. And they said, "Praise to Allah , who has guided us to this; and we would never have been guided if Allah had not guided us. Certainly the messengers of our Lord had come with the truth." And they will be called, "This is Paradise, which you have been made to inherit for what you used to do."May God bless you,

You left out, from my quote, the most important of those " certain things"
God requires us to " trust " Him completely and without any doubt inside our hearts. He wants us to rely on Him Alone and no one else for our " deen/system".
All of our "deen/system".
Peace brother.

Wssalam, leaving aside traditional understanding; in Arabic, "Hoor-e-Ein" means having a pure and clean intellect, and this word is used both for men and women. Therefore, the heavenly couples would be exemplary specimens of the ideal mixture of thought and deed.
