Do we have something like Qur'an-alone tafseer? If so, where can I get it?

    Thanks.

      Peace Shila,

There's no Quran alone tafsir. If you want one, you have to do it by yourself, as we all have to do so.

Can you provide an exemple of a Quranic passage for which you need a tafsir, please ?

There are Quran based translations and QXP is more like a tafsir than a translation. The best thing to do is read Quran along with study tools etc www.StudyQuran.org

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

          Thanks, people.

I'm planning to dedicate myself to studying The Qur'an in the future, God willing, unfortunately I am busy with school at the moment and I can't do it properly right now so I thought there is already something like tafseer based on Qur'an alone.

            Peace Shila,

I feel like I'm reading everyone's tafseer on a daily basis here. I don't have a lot of time either, but I spend some time reading the Quran on my own, and then read the insight of others on here as well. The objective here is to think for ourselves and be critical, it's difficult to do that when you've got a tafseer. The Quran should make you think and reflect; even if it's only for a few minutes a day. I hope that makes sense.

Released is right. Read whatever you can , as many verses as you have time for, privately, just you and your creator .

By all means compare what other "tafsirs "have to say, but do not rely on them.

              Peace.

Just what I wanted to say. Its like throwing away the tafseer of ibn kathir and instead welcome the tafseer of someone else. Whats the point then? confused

Everyone else here does not make up rules, is not claiming authority and expects you to check for yourself.
Also you can take it or leave it after you checked it. Everyone here ,hopefully, knows that it is your creator that teaches/explains/helps you understand Qoran.

Lena ,I think " tafsir" means explanation/translation of Qoran?

                      Peace to both.

                          Peace Wael,

We should not throw away anyone's tafseer. I believe that we should read everyone's tafseer and try to understand it. No 'one' tafseer is 100% accurate or all encompassing, as the ultimate Truth or Reality belong with only God. However, we're all expected to try and understand this Truth to the best of our ability. So, we've all got our own tafseer, and we should continue to share it with others.

                            Peace

                            What is tafseer?

Know the fact that those/members of elite group, who had refused to accept/believe, posed a question to people,

"Why is it so that the piecemeal descent of Qur'aan upon him/Muhammad has not been caused revelation as one time complete book".

The reason for gradual intermittent revelation is that We might, with this mode of gradual communication, cause your heart and mind strengthened-persistently remain in a state of calmness and tranquility.

The fact remains that We have communicated it-Grand Qur'aan distinctly , in the manner of excellently arranged flow of thread structuring the most beautiful compact web.

Moreover, the objective is that no sooner they come to you with a proposition/example/question
We would have already brought to you, the Messenger the factual and the best information, a breaking news about it.

http//haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Tabweeb%20Part%202/25.%20Roots%20originating%20in%20Surat%2025/1.gif is a Verbal Noun Indefinite; singular; masculine; accusative; used for disambiguation of preceding verbal clause. Its Root is " ".

The basic perception infolded in the Root is to disclose and state information about something the listener is hitherto not aware. The renowned Classical Arabic Lexicon, describes it as , "disclosure of the wrapped, covered, not known thing". The Lane's Lexicon states, "to explain, to interpret, to explicate, to elucidate, to disclose a hidden thing; he discovered, detected, revealed, or disclosed a thing that was concealed, or obscured".

The disclosure of information, about something, which is in a concealed, obscured, hidden, covered or wrapped state that comes to the knowledge of a listener/reader for the first time, is but "breaking news" for him. The act of breaking the news occurs only once. Certainly, it is no coincidence that the word from this Root has occurred only once in the Grand Qur'aan.

The context is about explaining the rationale and objective of gradual and intermittent revelation of Grand Qur'aan. This was to answer with regard to oral propaganda and questioning of people by the non-believers that why and for what reason the Qur'aan has not been sent to him, Muhammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam, in one go, as a complete bound book.

I feel pleased that the non-believers had raised this question before people, though with bad intention of creating confusion, because the response has disclosed the first priority of Allah, the Exalted. The tranquility of the exalted heart of our Guide Lord, Muhammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam is the first priority of Allah, the Exalted. - .

The responsibility, and expectation of people from the Guide Lord, is to guide and answer their queries and provide them the information/news about anything of their interest. The Guide Lord can feel uneasiness and heaviness in the heart of his heart on the thought of feeling embarrassment, in case he has no news and information to offer in response to a query. The objective of gradual and intermittent communication of Qur'aan is only to keep the heart of the Exalted Messenger at peace. The assurance was that whatever the people might ask from him, the best breaking news about that would have reached him prior to floating of the question or query or proposition. This assurance was reflective of the fact that need be every thing will be disclosed to the Elevated Messenger, Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam.

Tafsir-Qur'aan is the breaking news of Established Facts

Alongside tafseer, I thing Mazhar also explained asbabul nazul. The Qur'an was revealed in stages to give answers to the the people of the Prophet's time who came to him with questions. Those ayahs are the only legitimate tafseer because they reveal information previously unheard of. So the verses of the Quran are the tafseer. Explanation is explanation. That's what I understood.

Asbabul nuzul is reasons for revelation. It's a concept in traditional Islamic studies that some tafseer (exegesis) is derived from.
If tafseer means New Revelation, then according to Qur'an, its verses were Tafseer to the Prophet's contemporaries who questioned why the Qur'an was revealed intermittently.

                                          @Good logic

...according to Qur'an, its verses were Tafseer

So the verses of the Quran are the tafseer.

So the Qur'anic definition of tafseer isn't exegesis, it is the new ayahs revealed to Mohammed (pbuh).

                                          Is that right Mazhar?
