This is why Shia Imams who were very well versed and knowledged with Quran said that one needs to pray three times a day!
And that is why Shias combine prayers (zuhur va asar) and maghrib and Isisha. But they still do 17 rakkahs.

I have been looking into this myself this is very interesting. Keep on purifying and reading and learning and aks for Allah's guidance. Thanks for bringing this up.

    Salaam brother,
Shia Islam allowed itsef to be bullied by the Sunnis regarding 5 prayers and 17 rak'ahs, but their Salat bears witness to 3 original salawat with the recitation of 2 Fatihas, that is to say 2 rak'ahs, as detailed in 1587.
    Peace and God bless.

    Pierre

      Salaam Pierre,

You are absolutely right in what you are saying. It all makes sense. Why would God change His ritual from 3 to 5 prayers per day in His last revelation we can ask ourselves. And that surah 1 is to be recited twice in each prayer does also make sense.

I have heard that before Muhammad people used to pray only two rakah, so why would this change?

By the way dear Pierre, I am brother Henrik. I just registered here.

        Arabic original text is this

is the definite PLURAL noun. Plural Noun in Arabic quantitatively denotes three and more. It does not denote two.

Serious mistake in featured article What is Salat?

          Salaam Mazhar,

I agree 1 zillion%, of course the plural "salawat" implies by definition three or more prayers. But the authors seem to claim, from what I heard in the past, that the verse does not necessarily deal with one specific day. That way, they find a way to save face regarding a minimum of three salawat implied by definition in the verse. The problem is that the Quran keeps on defining periods of salat through one day, that is to say Dawn, Middle (literally starting "from midday in 5038...), and sunset. If midday is not the middle then what is it?
All we can do is point at, as you said, at the "serious mistake" and warn the others not to listen to them in that regard.
          Peace,

          Pierre

Arabic Phrase denotes nothing but that one which has two on its both sides. It is itself relatively in the middle of other four. Ask those who say three, that whether can be used to indicate something in between another two.

Dear brothers and sisters, salamun 'alaykum,

By the grace of God, I now understand very clearly that only three prayers have been decreed in the Quran.
The following information is in my opinion a major turning point in true Islam (based on the Quran alone) and I pray that you will not miss this
Verse 1587 is the key to understand how many rak'ahs have been decreed for us in salat

(1587) We have revealed to you the seven recited in sets of two and the sublime Quran.

I will not spoil all the details and the easy secret that explains why this is the correct interpretation and why it does mean that two rak'ahs (i.e. 2 recitations of sura 1) have been decreed in each salat. Please read section 14 in the article on salat
                http//www.islamrevolution.org/salatinthequran.htm
This article also explains the Friday prayer (section 17) in the light of this new discovery, and a lot more.
God bless you all, and please pass down this message to as many people as possible.

                Pierre

                Salaam,

The Red part of the next verse has the same construction as the red part I highlighted from your post.
                444

Can you please translate the red part of 444 in the same way as you did for 1587.

                Salaam,
                Bender

can be used to indicate something in between another two ? Not?? hmm
what i read is, that the catholic church (i.e. monks and nuns) prays five prayers every day PLUS prayers in the night (special midnight prayer)... Jesus also prayed 1, 3, 6, 9, 12 hour (in the DAY)
Jews knew the five prayers, but for practical reasons they shortened them together to three. They took the morning with the sunrise prayer and the afternoon prayer with the evening prayer and prayed the main prayers (morning and evening) at the temple.
According to historical sources, the Muslims prayed two prayers every day. So we are back to the begin...But in regards to the two Rakas, I agree - this is well possible. But a prayer is less a recitation than conversation and ask for help. nope
(so in the end we found the middle way two rakats with two fatihas and two public prayers on day and five or more (night) individual prayers...(my own opinion...)
                  Salam

                    Salaam,

A portion from the book, meaning "a portion that belongs to the book".

The Seven from the sets of two , meaning "the seven that belong to the sets of two" .

In other words, "sab'an min al mathani" are the seven verses recited in/from the sets of two performed in salat.
                    Peace.

                      Salaam Mazhar,

(223 Preserve strictly the ritual prayers (assalawat), and the middle prayer (Salaat al wusta), and stand up before God with humility.

My point in the translation is that all prayers are to be preserved or performed by definition, mentioning the middle prayer afterwards is simply about emphasizing its importance as being the one in the middle, both in terms of being in the middle of the other two, and starting exactly in the middle of the two at midday.
It does not make sense in my opinion that saying "Preserve strictly the ritual prayers (assalawat)" would not include one of the prayers directly.

                      Peace.

Assalawat is not an object-commodity which needs to be preserved. The command is to remain self vigilant-on guard upon performing the Time bound protocol of servitude and allegiance. People are individually made responsible.

a confusion came up. As per 4102

                          ........
what I under stood is that imam will complete two rakats but each group will complete only one raka behind the imam.
                          Is it so? confused

Seven heavens above us is the oft repeated in Quran for those who reflect.

And wherever and however oft the Quran recites the seven heavens, it is always paired with the earth as a set of two.

This verse has nothing to do with either the ritualistic salat or sura Al Fathiha.

With this Seven, Allah guides whom He will; and sends astray whom He will.

Well, i would like to add that yes, the seven pairs might refer to the fatha, because the way the Quran is organized, sura 2 looks like the actually the beginning of the Quran, mainly because sura 2 starts with ALM, THIS BOOK....

                                This is a great remark.
I always add a feeling that sura 2 looks like you are really starting the Quran
                                (21) ALM. (22) This is the book for which there is no doubt. It is a guide for those who are God conscious.

I also have the feeling that the entire sura 1 was known at the time of Abraham and maybe Adam, and that it was lost afterwards.
We are at least sure that Solomon knew the expression "Bismillah al Rahman al Raheem" from 2730.
                                God bless you.

                                  Salaam,

1587 We have revealed to you the seven in sets of two and the sublime Quran.
Very obviously, God did not reveal to Muhammad the seven heavens paired with the earth since they were already there millions of years before him.
We have to stick with the meaning of the verse to understand what it really means It is about God revealing the Quran to Muhammad, as well as seven that are in sets of two.
Therefore, "sab'an minalmathani" are either seven verses or suras by definition, and only the seven verses of sura 1 fits the description since they are recited in sets of two in salat.
It is when we try to reinvent the wheel and not paying attention to what the Quran exactly says (here it is about 7 in sets of two revealed to Muhammad) that we end up being lost. The verse simply details what we call today rak'ahs in salat, as any Muslim around the world who practices salat knows that it comes in sets of two.
                                  Peace.

a confusion came up. As per 4102

what I under stood is that imam will complete two rakats but each group will complete only one raka behind the imam.
                                    Is it so? confused

                                    Salaam dear brother,

(4102) When you (O Muhammad) are among them, and lead the ritual prayer for them, Let one party of them stand with you, armed with their weapons then, when they prostrated, let them withdraw to the rear, and let another party which has not yet prayed move forward, and let them pray with you, being on their guards with their weapons the unbelievers wish that you neglect your weapons and your baggage, to crack down on you in a single rush. But there is no blame on you if you lay down your weapons because of the inconvenience of the rain or because you are ill; but take your precautions. In truth, God has prepared a humiliating punishment for the unbelievers.

(4101) And if you travel throughout the land, there is no blame upon you if you shorten your ritual prayer if you fear that the unbelievers may cause you any harm. In truth, the unbelievers are your declared enemy.

Great observation (!) and I partially agree with you. You sensed reading the verse that it can be interpreted that the first group stood only once before the prayer was over after prostrating.
It makes complete sense that the prophet prayed only one rak'ah with the first group because of the situation of extreme danger facing the enemy and the fact we are allowed to reduce the salat in such cases as seen in 4101. When you shorten a two rak'ah salat, it is very obviously only one rak'ah instead. This is why it is not necessary for God to detail in 4101 how many rak'ahs are meant when you reduce the salat It is only one by default.
But then, since the verse says "let another party which has not yet prayed move forward" it is clear that a new salat is starting, both for Muhammad and the new group. Muhammad most likely prayed individual shortened prayers of 1 rak'ah with two or more groups, because he knew that it would give courage to his army to pray with him before many of the believers would fight and some of them die.
What the verse also shows is that it is possible to pray the same prayer several times, and not just in this specific situation of danger.
                                    Thanks for your remark.
                                    God bless you.

                                        Salaam,

1587 We have revealed to you the seven in sets of two and the sublime Quran.
Very obviously, God did not reveal to Muhammad the seven heavens paired with the earth since they were already there millions of years before him.
                                        Pierre

Then why should Allah say repeatedly "We have created the skies and the earth not in vain but with Truth" even 1400 years since, though they were there over millions of years? Can you bring proof from Quran to your claim that Allah had very obviously not revealed the seven heavens? 3191 is a proof that Allah reveals to those who ponder the heavens and the earth while in standing, reclining, or lying or in any position or situation, so that they, as Allah reveals to them individually would say, "Yes! Allah had not created the heavens and the earth in vain."
                                        .
