    9126

Do they not see they are tested every calendar year once or twice?, but then they do not repent, nor do they remember. (FM no. 912

I don't really understand what kind of tests these are. And why are they once or twice every calendar year. Me thinks there's something fishy going on with the translation of "calendar year". I read in brother Ayman's article on Ramadhan, that the meaning of the arabic words translated as year are yet to be resolved. Perhaps this might be a passage that does the trick. I looked at the context of this pasage and it still didn't make sense to me. From what it actually says we should be able to "see" that we are being tested. What could those tests be, becuase I don't think I've seen them, yet. Maybe they're just one or two periods of difficulty during the year, where we all go through some hardship to se if our faith is strong. What do other brothers and sisters make of these tests?

      Peace Natu,

This could be talking about the 'hajj', when there is debate, new ideas come and the people are tested?

I don't know about fasting, fasting seems more like a self discipline thing rather than a test because we aren't warned about failing or making the wrong choices.

        Salaams,

The word translated as "a test" is "FITNAH" =
I suggest that we study that word in other Ayat for better understanding, so to see whether Fitnah is something seeable or not. Take a look here
        http//www.openburhan.com/ob_main_frame.html
In any case, Fitnah is not bad in itself. It is how we react to it. Weren't you, Natu, in Fitna of code 19? Is code 19 bad in itself?

          Peace be upon you,

Ancient cultures believed that the solstices, the winter and summer solstice, were times when your spirit was most receptive, so it was a time of programming the spirit. If you are unaware of this and just going about your day and night wathcing reality TV, arguing, drinking and smoking, etc then that is what will be programmed into your spirit. It seems to me that would be a real trial.

I offer that just for thought.
