This is not final. You will notice that I have not yet answered some of Edip's points. Some require a long answer, and I don't doubt that there are several topics on this site that cover those points.

I ask that you please respond to each of the points according to the number I put before the point.

This is my research on "Salat".

"Salat" is one of the most disputed topics we find today amongst the followers of the Qur'an. In a book described as "fully/sufficiently detailed", how can there be so much debate and arguments regarding what is considered one of the most important duties of those who follow the Qur'an?

I ask many questions here. Please answer all these questions; not just for me, but for yourselves as well.

I also ask you to do something that is very difficult, though of course it will not be if you seek GOD's help Bring your mind to accept the following things

Discard the notion that 'salat' is a ritual prayer.
Discard the notion that 'salat' is a scheduled reading.
Discard the notion that 'salat' means "commitments".

Do this for your own good. I realized that when I was researching 'salat', that I did not want to stop the ritual prayer. I was only looking for things to support my understanding of 'salat' as a ritual prayer. This is a dangerous thing to do, as it can easily cloud your judgment. Ignorance sets it. Seek refuge with GOD from your ignorance and sincerely ask GOD to guide you to the truth.

    Sala or
    Salat or
    Salaa or
Solaa or whatever you want to call it was observed since the time of Abraham. Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Aaron... all the prophets/messengers and messengers observed whatever salat is. Even Jesus as a baby observed salat.

2173 We made them leaders who guide by Our command,
and We inspired them to do good work and hold the SALAT and contribute towards betterment, and they were in service to Us.

The translation used in this booklet is the Reformist translation. I have replaced 'contact prayer' with SALAT for the purpose of this booklet.

SALA PRAYER ACCORDING TO THE QURAN

    1
? Observing Sala prayer is frequently
    mentioned together with giving charity
    and thus emphasizing the social
    consciousness and communal
responsibility of those who observe the
    prayer (243,83,110; 477; 2278; 1071-
    7).

    2
? Sala prayer is observed to commemorate
and remember God alone (6162; 2014).

6162 Say, "My SALAT, my devotion
and offerings, my life, and my death, are
all to God the Lord of the worlds."

2014 "I am God, there is no god but Me, so
serve Me and hold the SALAT
    for My remembrance."

There is no debate regarding this issue. SALAT is for GOD and the purpose of SALAT is to remember GOD.

    3
? Sala remembrance protects us from sins
    and harming others (2945).

2945 Recite what is inspired to you of the
book, and hold the SALAT; for the
    SALAT prohibits evil and vice,
and the remembrance of God is the
    greatest. God knows everything you
    do.

The immediate thought that enters my mind is the 1+ billion "Muslims" who pray the ritual SALAT yet the overwhelming majority are Polytheists. Terrorists perform the SALAT ritual. There must either be more to SALAT than just a ritual prayer, or we have misunderstood what SALAT actually is, or I am missing something here.

    4
? Sala prayer should be observed
    continuously until death (1931; 7023,34).

1931 "He made me blessed wherever I was,
and He charged me with the SALAT and towards betterment as long
    as I am alive."

7023 Who are always maintaining their
    SALAT.

7034 Those who are dedicated to their
    SALAT.

There is no debate here regarding SALAT. We are to be dedicated to our SALAT and observe SALAT until our test is complete.

    ? Sala is for God's remembrance (2014).

2014 "I am God, there is no god but Me, so
serve Me and hold the SALAT
    for My remembrance."

This was already addressed. There is no debate here.

    5
? Sala is conducted regularly at three times
    each day (2458, 11114, 2238, 177.

2458 O you who acknowledge, let those
whom are under your contract and have
not yet attained puberty request your
    permission regarding three times Before
the dawn SALAT, and when you
take off your attire from the heat of the
noon, and after the dusk SALAT.
These are three private times for you.
Other than these times, it is not wrong
for you or them to intermingle with one
another. God thus clarifies the revelations for you. God is
    Knowledgeable, Wise.

GOD, in 2458 clearly does not decree 3 daily Salat rituals, like some hastily think. Dawn Salat; noon; Dusk Salat. From this verse, there is no obligatory Salat ritual to be held at noontime. Perhaps the other verses make it more clear.

11114 You shall hold the SALAT at
both ends of the day and the near part
of the night. The good deeds take away
the bad. This is a reminder for those
    who remember.

Salat ritual is held at both ends of the day; the day ends when the sun sets and begins at sunset. And the near part of the night, explained further in 1778.

1778 You shall hold the contact prayer at the
setting of the sun, until the darkness of
the night; and the Quran at dawn, the
Quran at dawn has been witnessed.

2238 Preserve the SALATs, and the
middle SALAT, and stand devoutly for God.

2239 But if you are in a state of worry, then
you may do so while walking or riding.
If you become secure, then remember
God as He has taught you what you did
    not know.

There is much debate over this. Why? The questions which commonly arise are
"Why are we told to preserve the salat AND the middle salat? The middle salat IS salat, why is this not included with the first Salat?"
"Is the middle Salat more important than the other two?"
"Why do these two verses jump completely out of context regarding the surrounding verses, which speak of divorce?"
"When is the middle salat? Are we supposed to assume it is between Dawn and Dusk? Where is the verse that says it is between the Dawn and Dusk prayers?"
"If it is between the Dawn and Dusk prayers, is it in the daytime, or in the night time?"
"Why does 1778 detail the times of the Dawn and the Dusk prayers, but it does not mention the Middle prayer?"
    "Isn't the Qur'an "fully/sufficiently detailed?"?"

These are common questions; but of course I ask these questions as well. These questions should not be asked. The Qur'an is fully/sufficiently detailed. Those who observe 2 daily Salat claim that the word "Wusta" translated as "Middle" is a distortion which found its way into the Qur'an through the fabricated Hadiths. There are indeed several fabricated Hadith's that say that the "middle" prayer is the Asr or Afternoon prayer, like this was not common knowledge. It seems like they fabricated more than one of these stories possibly to try and prove that there is such a thing as a middle prayer.

? Sala is for men and women (971).

971 The acknowledging men and women,
they are allies to one another. They order
good and deter from evil, and they hold
    the SALAT, and they contribute
towards betterment, and they obey God
and His messenger. God will have
mercy on them; God is Noble, Wise.

There is no debate regarding this.

? Sala requires a sober state of mind (443).

443 O you who acknowledge, do not come
near the SALAT while you are
drunk, until you know what you are
saying. Nor if you have had intercourse,
unless traveling, until you bathe. If you
are ill, or traveling, or one of you come
from the bathroom, or you had sexual
contact with the women, and could not
find water then you shall seek clean soil
and wipe your faces and hands. God is
    Pardoning, Forgiving.

This supports the understanding of Salat as a ritual, and also the understanding of Salat as a learning process.

    ? Sala requires cleanliness (56).

56 O you who acknowledge, when you rise
to attend the SALAT, then wash
your faces and your hands up to the
elbows, and wipe your heads and your
feet to the ankles; and if you have had
intercourse, then you shall bathe. If you
are ill, or traveling, or you have excreted
feces, or you have had sexual contact
with the women, and you could not find
water, then you shall do ablution from
clean soil; you shall wipe your faces and
your hands. God does not want to make
any hardship over you, but He wants to
cleanse you and to complete His
blessings upon you that you may be
    appreciative.

This supports the understanding of Salat as a ritual, and also the understanding of Salat as a learning process. The dry ablution may be done to prepare the mind, or to simply clean ones self of odour, if it does that, which would support another understanding of the learning process, which is understood by those who follow that notion of a scheduled gathering to learn the commands and listen to the recitation of the Qur'an while Muhammed was alive.
6 What about the understanding that Salat means commitments?

    7
? Sala is done while facing one unifying
    point (2144).

2142 The foolish from amongst the people
will say, "What has turned them away
from the focal point that they were on?"
Say, "To God is the east and the west,
He guides whomsoever He wishes to a
    straight path."

2143 As such, We have made you a
    balanced/impartial nation so that you
may be witnesses over the people, and
that the messenger may be witness over
you. We did not make the focal point
that you came on except so that we know
who follows the messenger from those
who will turn on their heels. It was a big
deal indeed except for those whom God
had guided; God was not to waste your
    acknowledgement. God is Kind and
    Compassionate over the people.

2144 We see the shifting of your face towards
the sky; We will thus set for you a focal
point that will be pleasing to you, "You
shall set yourself towards the Restricted
Temple; and wherever you may be, you
shall all set yourselves towards it."
Those who have been given the book
know it is the truth from their Lord. God
is not oblivious of what you do.

2145 Even if you come to those who have
been given the book with every sign,
they will not follow your focal point, nor
will you follow their focal point, nor will
some of them even follow each other's
focal point. If you were to follow their
desires after the knowledge that has
come to you, then you would be one of
    the wicked.

2146 Those to whom We have given the book
know it as they know their own children,
and a group of them hides the truth while
    they know.

2147 The truth is from your Lord; so do not be
    one of those who doubt.

2148 To each is a direction that he will take,
so you shall race towards good deeds.
Wherever you may be, God will bring
you all together. God is capable of all
    things.

2149 From wherever you go out, you shall set
    yourself towards the Restricted Temple;
it is the truth from your Lord; and God is
not oblivious of what you do.*

2150 Wherever you go out, you shall set
    yourself towards the Restricted Temple.
Wherever you may be, you shall set
yourselves towards it; that the people
will have no room for debate with you,
except those of them who are wicked.
You shall not fear them, but fear Me so
that I may complete My blessings upon
you and that you may be guided.

Edip uses 2144 as the source in this point to face Mecca. Nowhere in 2144 or in the following verses which I also put here is there a command to face Mecca during the Salat ritual prayer.
In the endnote of 2142-145, Edip writes "Qibla is a point to which we are supposed to turn while observing our daily prayers."
Unfortunately, if I were part of a tribe in the middle of the jungle, who has never had any connection with the outside world, and one day a Qur'an fell on my head and I started reading it, I would never have come to a conclusion from these verses that I must face Mecca during Salat. This is one of the frequent examples we begin to notice where the person is trying to fit their idea of what Salat is to the verses, and the verses don't even hint that we must face Mecca during a Salat ritual. This is why I said in the beginning of this booklet to discard whatever understanding you have of Salat. Many more examples of this follow.

    8
? Sala is done in a stationary standing
    position (2238-239).

2238 Preserve the SALATs, and the
    middle SALAT, and stand
    devoutly for God.*

2239 But if you are in a state of worry, then
you may do so while walking or riding.
If you become secure, then remember
God as He has taught you what you did
    not know.*

    9
? Sala involves the oath being made to God
(11-7) followed by the Scripture being
    recited (2945).

11 In the name of God, the Gracious, the
    Compassionate.*

12 Praise is to God, Lord of the worlds.

    13 The Gracious, the Compassionate.

14 Master of the day of judgment.*

15 You alone we serve; you alone we ask
    for help.

    16 Guide us to the straight way;

17 the way of those whom you blessed; not
of those who received anger, nor of the
    strayers.*

2945 Recite what is inspired to you of the
book, and hold the SALAT; for the
    SALAT prohibits evil and vice,
and the remembrance of God is the
    greatest. God knows everything you
    do.*

Here, Edip says Salat prayer involves the oath (11-7), and then reciting the Qur'an. To my knowledge, GOD does not tell us that the Salat ritual involves 11-7. Nor does GOD say that this must be followed by reciting the Qur'an. 2945 clearly does not command us to recite the Qur'an WHILE holding the Salat, we can see there is a comma and the word 'and' between the two. There are many other examples similar to this.

    ? Sala requires a moderate voice (17110).

17110 Say, "Call on God or call on the
Gracious. Whichever it is you call on,
to Him are the best names." Do not be
    loud/public in your SALAT, nor
quiet/private; but seek a path in
    between.

This supports the understanding of the Salat ritual prayer, and it also supports the understanding of the timed reading during the time of Muhammed.

    ? Sala involves prostration (4102).

4101 If you are mobilized in the land, then
there is no harm that you shorten the
SALAT, if you fear that the
ingrates will try you. The ingrates are to
    you a clear enemy.*

4102 If you are with them and hold the contact
prayer for them, then let a group from
amongst them stand with you and let
them bring their weapons; when they
have prostrated then let them stand guard
from behind; let a group who has not yet
contacted come and contact with you,
and let them be wary and let them bring
their weapons with them. The ingrates
hope that you would neglect your
weapons and goods so they can come
upon you in one blow. There is no sin
upon you if you are impeded by rainfall,
or if you are ill, that you keep from
placing down your weapons. Be wary.
God has prepared for the ingrates a
    humiliating retribution.

4103 So when you are done with the contact
    prayer, then remember God while
standing, or sitting, or on your sides.
When you are relieved, you shall hold
    the SALAT; the SALAT for
those who acknowledge is a scheduled
    book.*

    10
? Sala is ended by prostrating and saying
    specific words (4102, 17111).

4102 If you are with them and hold the contact
prayer for them, then let a group from
amongst them stand with you and let
them bring their weapons; when they
have prostrated then let them stand guard
from behind; let a group who has not yet
contacted come and contact with you,
and let them be wary and let them bring
their weapons with them. The ingrates
hope that you would neglect your
weapons and goods so they can come
upon you in one blow. There is no sin
upon you if you are impeded by rainfall,
or if you are ill, that you keep from
placing down your weapons. Be wary.
God has prepared for the ingrates a
    humiliating retribution.

17111 Say, "Praise is to God, who has not
taken a son, nor does He have a partner
in sovereignty, nor does He have an
ally out of weakness." Glorify Him
    greatly.

As for 17111, I am not sure if Edip is suggesting that we must end the prayer by reciting 17111, where does GOD command this in the 'fully/sufficiently detailed' Qur'an. Where does GOD say that it must end with specific words?

? Sala can be shortened in case of war
    (4101).

? Sala can be done on the move or sitting in
    case of worry (2239).

? Sala is to be prescribed to your own
    family (20133).

20133 They said, "If only he would bring us a
sign from his Lord!" Did not proof
come to them from what is in the
    previous book?*

I am certain Edip wrote the wrong verse number here.

? Sala is also performed with congregation
    (62 9-10).

629 O you who acknowledge, if the contact
prayer is called to on the day of
assembly, then you shall hasten towards
the remembrance of God, and cease all
selling. This is better for you, if you only
    knew.*

6210 Then, once the SALAT is
complete, you shall disperse through the
land and seek God's provisions, and
remember God frequently, so that you
    may succeed.

6211 If they come across any trade, or some
entertainment, they rush to it and leave
you standing, say, "What God possesses
is far better than entertainment or trade.
    God is the best Provider."

GOD willing, I will respond to every one of his points.

I feel that this next point is very important; it shows how some people desperately try to fit their understanding into verses of the Qur'an. Unfortunately, accepting this understanding sometimes contradicts 6114.

    Units of Prayer
The Quran does not specify any number of units for
prayers. It leaves it to our discretion. We may
deduce some ideas regarding the length of the
prayers from verses 4101 and 102. Verse 101
allows us to shorten our prayers because of the fear
of being ambushed by enemy during wars. The
following verse explains how to pray with turn; it
mentions only one prostration, thus implying one
unit. If shortening the prayers is considered as
reducing the number of their units, then one may
infer that prayers at normal times should consist at
least of two units. The units of the Congregational
Prayer being 2 is revealing, since it is more likely to
be accurately preserved. Again, the units of prayer is
not fixed by the Quran; it is upto individual and
    groups.

It is clear, by reading what Edip wrote regarding 'Units', that there is no such thing as a 'Unit'. It is a fabrication that Edip is unfortunately trying so hard to fit into the Qur'an.

    11

"The Quran does not specify...We may deduce some ideas...one may infer..."
    Does not equal
    "Fully/sufficiently detailed".
Wouldn't GOD tell us it is up to us to decide how many units there are? Wouldn't GOD tell us that there ARE units in the 'contact prayer'??

Edip, in the appendix titled "How Can we Observe the Sala Prayers by Following the Quran Alone?",
clearly had an understanding of a ritual prayer and tried as hard as he could to fit it into the Qur'an. Unfortunately, by following this understanding, we cannot also believe in 6114. More than once did Edip guess that a certain verse fit his understanding. The Qur'an is fully detailed. There is no guessing. What is there is there and that is all. We see topics such as divorce, , ,, , extensively detailed, yet Salat, something that is so important, is found so ambiguously. Why? Because we are trying to fit an understanding into the Qur'an, and we are left with... this. We could expect that if Salat did indeed mean 'ritual prayer', an extensively detailed explanation regarding such topics as what to say, in which position, how many units, etc... Unfortunately, we are left with, as Edip said
"...one may infer..." and "We may deduce some ideas..."

Thus, I am leaning on the thought that there must be something else or more to Salat. I am sure that if a hadith follower asking where salat was in the Qur'an were handed this appendix, that hadith follower would not be convinced. 12

Obviously, this is not complete. Please share your feedback.

    peace

I think many people just do not want to make salat, and invent reasons to satisfy themselves.

how many rakats, how many salats, what color heifer, how old.

      Peace

I say exactly what I said in many other threads about salat... The discussion will go around in circles?

Let me ask a couple of questions to add to yours

1- Why does God send messengers?

2- What is " fully detailed"and how does this relate to us " being tested"?

God knows what He is doing, we are the ones who " doubt" because of our ego .

Qoran as a whole needs to be believed and followed . If we look only at the salat verses we may not get the full understanding?

          Peace.

I welcome every research on Salat, because, for me, it is of vital importance.
I am looking forward to further developments and answers.
            Thank you

When I first started doing research I was looking for arguments to support the prayer. But as I researched further and further, it became clear to me that people were simply picking and choosing phrases from verses to form their view of what 'salat' is. Some verses that say 'kneel', they say this commands us to kneel in the salat. Some verses say to glorify God before the sun sets, they say this commands us to perform the contact prayer; some say at noon, some say at asr. Some verses say to 'face the 'masjid al haram'', they say this commands us to face east or west or etc in the contact prayer. I recommend answering the numbers I wrote down. I did not invent reasons, to satisfy myself. I simply planned to write my own how to perform the salat prayer article, looked over the verses Edip used to support his views, and found a bizarre amount of ambiguity, while thinking of 6114, which led me to think of the possibility that there is a misunderstanding.
Also the fact that there is so much debate and so many different views made me think that there might be something more to Salat.
At the moment, if I found solid evidence that there is indeed the contact prayer, GOD willing I will follow it. By solid evidence, I mean something more convincing than Edip's appendix.

Asking GOD to guide to the truth if I am in the wrong place and to stop me from being ignorant if I am looking at the truth always helps, GOD willing.

I recommend that you make your own article on "how to perform the contact prayer", using verses which tell us what to do IN the contact prayer. Remember to keep it in mind "IN".

Thank you for the recommendation, how to perform the contact prayer is already known,
if you feel the need to satisfy your doubts that is your choice.

                May God accept our worship

                Peace

Thank you for this topic, AND your thoughts on this very important aspect of our Deen. Some people see it differently, but i share many of your questions, and hope to sort this out with the others who are always ready to examine more closely, and dig to deeper. Peace sun PS This is the translation i am currently reading through, along with Ahmed Ali's. Edip's transl. i am having some trouble reading lately, esp the awkward English. AND the Appendix conclusions regarding prayer may be too simplified, IMHO. Trying to learn Arabic written and roots....

                    Salam )
                    Once again, ritual or not?
There remains nothing more than to cleanse ouselves of all what we know, learned, seen, pre-lived and read the verses of the Quran and apply it.
Different people may come to different conclusions, as a yellow cow for one is yellow but appearing for the other light brown . Allah is not a stingy man. He gives us many clues, which includes how/ what a salat should achieve. For every person the salat may lead to another feature - like the order to paint a tree and a cat will lead to a million different images . Each of these pictures is enough to the ordered specification and each is self-contained and beautifully.
The assessment is a matter of opinion.
                    peace )

The immediate thought that enters my mind is the 1+ billion "Muslims" who pray the ritual SALAT yet the overwhelming majority are Polytheists. Terrorists perform the SALAT ritual. There must either be more to SALAT than just a ritual prayer, or we have misunderstood what SALAT actually is, or I am missing something here.

                      Mattew 65-18 Prayer

5 ?And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues (Mosques) and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on vain repetitions like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 ?This, then, is how you should pray

                      ??Our Father in heaven,
                      hallowed be your name,
                      10 your kingdom come,
your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.?

14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

                      Fasting

16 ?When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

"Salat" is one of the most disputed topics we find today amongst the followers of the Qur'an. In a book described as "fully/sufficiently detailed", how can there be so much debate and arguments regarding what is considered one of the most important duties of those who follow the Qur'an?

There should be never dispute on Quran provided you have followed Allah's guidance in understanding and accept not the hear-says and the views of the people at large.

SALA PRAYER ACCORDING TO THE QURAN

                        1
? Observing Sala prayer is frequently
                        mentioned together with giving charity
                        and thus emphasizing the social
                        consciousness and communal
responsibility of those who observe the
                        prayer (243,83,110; 477; 2278; 1071-
                        7).

                        Salat means
Remember Allah more and more; and give charity by Allah.

                        2
? Sala prayer is observed to commemorate
and remember God alone (6162; 2014).

6162 Say, "My SALAT, my devotion
and offerings, my life, and my death, are
all to God the Lord of the worlds."

I remember Allah wholesomely and spend the fruits of my entire life in His cause.

2014 "I am God, there is no god but Me, so
serve Me and hold the SALAT
                        for My remembrance."

The more you spend in My Way, the more I would help you Remember Me.

There is no debate regarding this issue. SALAT is for GOD and the purpose of SALAT is to remember GOD.

Salat i.e. Remembering God is not for God but for your own Good.

                        3
? Sala remembrance protects us from sins
                        and harming others (2945).

2945 Recite what is inspired to you of the
book, and hold the SALAT; for the
                        SALAT prohibits evil and vice,
and the remembrance of God is the
                        greatest. God knows everything you
                        do.

The immediate thought that enters my mind is the 1+ billion "Muslims" who pray the ritual SALAT yet the overwhelming majority are Polytheists. Terrorists perform the SALAT ritual. There must either be more to SALAT than just a ritual prayer, or we have misunderstood what SALAT actually is, or I am missing something here.

Salat is Remembrance of God for every good He has given us and then be grateful and show your thanks to Him. By believing in Him he would bestow upon us more; and we shall spend now more in His cause.

                        4
? Sala prayer should be observed
                        continuously until death (1931; 7023,34).

1931 "He made me blessed wherever I was,
and He charged me with the SALAT and towards betterment as long
                        as I am alive."

Of course, show of gratitude shall have to be forever if Remembering Him is true.

                        5
? Sala is conducted regularly at three times
                        each day (2458, 11114, 2238, 177.

2458 O you who acknowledge, let those
whom are under your contract and have
not yet attained puberty request your
                        permission regarding three times Before
the dawn SALAT, and when you
take off your attire from the heat of the
noon, and after the dusk SALAT.
These are three private times for you.
Other than these times, it is not wrong
for you or them to intermingle with one
another. God thus clarifies the revelations for you. God is
                        Knowledgeable, Wise.

GOD, in 2458 clearly does not decree 3 daily Salat rituals, like some hastily think. Dawn Salat; noon; Dusk Salat. From this verse, there is no obligatory Salat ritual to be held at noontime. Perhaps the other verses make it more clear.

Generally, these are the timings for the privacy of a man is what God stresses. Most believe salat is not to be done in Privacy but should jolly well be done in chorus and conducted as jamats! If one believes salat is private matter according to this verse, then it should not be discussed as a common or community matter at all for, to bring privacy into openness is obscenity. And if Noon-privacy is a matter of salat, then you do the salat in nude, throwing away your clothes.

11114 You shall hold the SALAT at
both ends of the day and the near part
of the night. The good deeds take away
the bad. This is a reminder for those
                        who remember.

Salat ritual is held at both ends of the day; the day ends when the sun sets and begins at sunset. And the near part of the night, explained further in 1778.

1778 You shall hold the contact prayer at the
setting of the sun, until the darkness of
the night; and the Quran at dawn, the
Quran at dawn has been witnessed.

Quran is the only source by which we shall remember what is in the heavens and what is in the earth and what is in between and who we are in them; what is expected of us; henceforth which our abode is and many more. These are parts of the essence of salat.

Preserve Remembering God more and more; and in between, now and then you tend to forget Remembering and thus miss out on the middle salat - better you'd remember Him even more dutifully while at your business, lest you would be void. Thus, the Middle salat i.e. not forgetting God at any point of time during the day or night surely, shall show God we are gratefully devoted to Him.

God knows our weaknesses that given a testing situation our faith will become shaky, sad and fearful that we might walk out hurriedly or flee with no time even to think about God; but when we feel secure, what He expects of us in the least is to be more grateful, remember Him a lot dearer than before, be more God fearing, spend of what God has provided us with for any good purpose that we might deem fit; turn to Him in repentance; and spend time seeking from Him stronger Iman, peace and tranquility.

"Why do these two verses jump completely out of context regarding the surrounding verses, which speak of divorce?"

Every single verse of Quran connects with the rest of 6000 and odd other vereses of Quran without contradiction; it is up to the readers to seek from Allah the guidance to conduct them to a very fair and comfortable understanding. We are likely to go out of context all of the time while Quran is easy, clear and farsighted.

443 O you who acknowledge, do not come
near doing any good thing while you are
in imbalance, until you know what you are.
Nor if you have had intercourse,
unless traveling, until you are refreshed. If you
are ill, or traveling, or one of you come
from the bathroom, or you had sexual
contact with the women, and could not
find water then you shall seek clean soil
and wipe your faces and hands. God is
                        Pardoning, Forgiving.

This supports not the ritual Salat but the need to be mentally agile and observant while on a good cause for the sake of God.

17110 Say, "Call on God or call on the
Gracious. Whichever it is you call on,
to Him are the best of names. "Do not be
                        loud/public in your SALAT, nor
quiet/private; but seek a path in
                        between.

This supports the understanding of the Salat ritual prayer, and it also supports the understanding of the timed reading during the time of Muhammed.

In your Remembrance of all good by God, you can neither cry; nor mumble.

It does not support the period of Muhammad at all if we believe Quran is for the heavens and the earth; and for the people of all worlds.

Edip's confusion on Quran is prevalent all through his pages.

? Sala is also performed with congregation
                        (62 9-10).

629 O you who acknowledge, if the contact
prayer is called to on the day of
assembly, then you shall hasten towards
the remembrance of God, and cease all
selling. This is better for you, if you only
                        knew.*

6210 Then, once the SALAT is THUS
complete, you shall disperse through the
land and seek God's means of graceful living, and
remember God frequently, so that you
                        may succeed.

6211 If they come across any trade, or some
entertainment, they rush to it and leave
you standing, say, "What God possesses
is far better than entertainment or trade.
                        God is the best Provider."

I have changed or added certain words to the original in red color.
Assembly and exchange of God's words and His Remembrance is messed up here; this is no way at all to read or write Al Quran.

                        Peace all, Edip.

I think many people just do not want to make salat, and invent reasons to satisfy themselves.

how many rakats, how many salats, what color heifer, how old.

                          Peace

                          bravo

                            Beautiful.

                              Very interesting. I like it.

It's not that I don't want to do the salat. However, honestly, I have not found a clear method that can be agreed upon by the community. I've also read articles where salat could mean something else completely. I'm just really confused at this point.

I like the diversity within everyone's rendition of the salat. Perhaps, God meant it to be this way. We're not an organized religion, so we're not meant to have an organized method to the ritual salat? (if one indeed exists as such)? Or, perhaps salat refers to something else completely? I'm still investigating, but have my own rendition of the salat at the moment (it's rather short and to the point).

It is that many here want to seek truth and not want to follow and hold onto false beliefs.
