    peace to all

Among the five pillars of Islam ZAKAAH is one of them. The ZAKAAH is paid to the poor in the month of Ramadan @ the rate of 2.5% on the savings excluding certain amount of gold etc. This concept of paying ZAKAAH is not found in the quran and the primary source of this practise is from the Hadith written by some people some 200 years after the death of the prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The word ZAKAAH as we understand is a tax payable by Muslims every year. The word ZAKAAH in the quran except when used as 'AATO AZ- ZAKAAH AATAA AZ- ZAKAAH MU'TON AZ- ZAKAAH AATAYTUM AZ- ZAKAAH YU'TON AZ- ZAKAAH AATAW AZ- ZAKAAH ETAA' AZ- ZAKAAH YU'TO AZ- ZAKAAH is interpreted as PURE PURITY ETC.

Through research I discovered that the word ZAKAAH in the Quran never meant charity but pure purity etc. Those, who insist that the details of the ZAKAAH, which are not mentioned in the QURAN and have come to them through the HADITH, the second inspired book of Islam, are actually living in conjectures. They are unaware that all the details of CHARITY are given in the quran and there is no need of fake Hadith to follow.

Insha Allah I will prove from the verses of the quran that those following the ZAKAAH as per the Hadith are actually accusing Allah for not sending the quran with complete details

Those who KEEP AWAY from the Path of Allah, and seek crookedness therein, and they in the Hereafter are disbelievers 1119

He said there will not come to you any food wherewith ye are provided but I shall have declared unto the interpretation thereof ere it cometh unto you that is of that which my Lord hath taught me; verily I have abandoned the creed of a people who believe not in Allah and who in the Hereafter are disbelievers. 1237

QUL 'INNA-MAA 'ANAA BASHAR MITHL -KUM YOH.AA 'ILAY -YA 'ANNA-MAA 'ILAAH -KUM 'ILAAH WAAH.ID FA- ISTAQEMO 'ILAY -HI WA- ISTAGHFIRO -HU WA- WAYL LI- AL- MUSHRIKEN' ALLADHENA LAA YU'TON AZ- ZAKAAH WA- HUM BI- AL- 'AAKHIRAH HUM KAAFIRON 416/7

Say thou "I am but a man like you it is revealed to me by inspiration that your Allah is One Allah so stand true to Him and ask for His forgiveness." And woe, TO the polytheists WHO do not GIVE ZAKAAT and they in the Hereafter are disbelievers. 416/7

From the above two verses we understand that THOSE (MANKIND) WHO keep away from the path of Allah, THOSE (MANKIND) WHO believe not in Allah, in the Hereafter they are disbelievers.

But in verse 416/7 the POLYTHEIST WHO (IF) do not GIVE ZAKAAH, in the Hereafter are disbelievers.

Verse 417 means those POLYTHEIST WHO give ZAKAAH, they in the Hereafter are BELIEVERS.

How could a DISBELIEVER who (IF) gives ZAKAAH become a BELIEVER in the Hereafter and how could a BELIEVER who (IF) do not give ZAKAAH, become a DISBELIEVER in the Hereafter? If the BELIEVER is very poor, survives on alms and donations, and DOES NOT give ZAKAAH, then? Is there any EXCEPTION for the BELIEVER?

In the Quran we have two meanings for the same word (ZAKAAH). One is CHARITY and the other is PURITY.

    The meaning changes

FA- ARADNAA 'AN YUBDIL -HUMAA RABB -HUMAA KHAYR(AN) MIN -HU ZAKAAH WA- AQRAB RUH.M(AN) 1881

And We intended that their Lord should change him for them for one better in PURITY and nearer to mercy. 1881

WA- H.ANAAN (AN) MIN LADUN -NAA WA- ZAKAAH WA- KAANA TAQEY (AN) 1913

And compassion from Our presence, and PURITY and he was devout, 1913

To understand ZAKAAH, it is essential for us to DECODE 416/7 in the light of the QURAN,

    WHY THE MESSENGER WAS SENT

"Our Lord! send amongst them an Apostle of their own who shall rehearse Thy Signs to them and instruct them in Scripture and Wisdom and (YUZAKKE) PURIFY them; for Thou art the Exalted in Might the Wise." 2129

Indeed Allah conferred a great favour on the believers when He sent among them a Messenger from among themselves, reciting unto them His Verses, and (YUZAKKE) PURIFYING them, and instructing them (in) the Book and wisdom, while before that they had been in manifest error. 3164

The messenger was sent to MANKIND with the express purpose of PURIFYING their HEART from POLYTHEISM

    ALLAH WILL NOT PURIFY WHOM?

Verily, those who conceal what Allah has sent down of the Book, and purchase a small gain therewith (of worldly things), they eat into their bellies nothing but fire. Allah will not speak to them on the Day of Resurrection, nor (YUZAKKE) PURIFY them, and theirs will be a painful torment. 2174

Verily, those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah's Covenant and their oaths, they shall have no portion in the Hereafter (Paradise). Neither will Allah speak to them, nor look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He (YUZAKKE) PURIFY them, and they shall have a painful torment. 377

Allah will not PURIFY those BELIEVERS who are HYPOCRITES. Those who CONCEALED the real message (Quran) of Allah with their own FABRICATED lies (Hadith). Those who, violated the COVENANTS of Allah, and their oaths and, gained a miserable price.

O apostle! let not THOSE grieve thee that hasten after INFIDELITY from AMONG these who say with their MOUTHS we BELIEVE, yet their HEARTS BELIEVE not, and from among those who are Judaised listeners to falsehoods, listeners to another people who come not unto thee; they pervert the words after they have been set in their places, saying if that which is given unto you accept it, but if that is not given you, then beware. And whosesoever temptation Allah Willeth, thou shalt not avail him against Allah in aught. THESE are they WHOSE HEARTS Allah would not PURIFY; theirs is humiliation in this world and theirs shall be in the Hereafter a mighty torment. 541

Allah will not PURIFY the hearts of THOSE who do not BELIEVE by HEART but by lips only

    PURIFICATION FROM POLYTHEISM

Verily, Allah forgives not that PARTNERS should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed INVENTED a tremendous sin. Hast thou not observed those who hold themselves (YUZAKKON) PURIFIED Nay! Allah (YUZAKKE) PURIFIES whomsoever He will, and they shall not be wronged a whit. Look, how they INVENT a lie against Allah, and enough is that as a manifest sin. 448/49/50

The Muslims have set up PARTNERS to ALLAH and His QURAN (HADITH, MULLAHS, SCHOLARS, SAINTS) and ascribe PURITY for themselves, but they have INVENTED a lie and a tremendous sin.

SUCCESSFUL ARE THOSE WHO PURIFY THEMSELVES

Nor can a bearer of burdens bear another's burden. If one heavily laden should call another to (bear) his load not the least portion of it can be carried (by the other) even though he be nearly related. Thou canst but admonish such as fear their Lord unseen and establish regular Prayer and whoever (TAZAKKAA) PURIFIES himself does so for the benefit of his own SOUL; and the destination (of all) is to Allah. 3518

Indeed whosoever (TAZAKKAA) PURIFIES himself shall achieve success, 8714

Those who PURIFY themselves it is to their benefits and success.

But what could tell you that per chance he might become (YAZZAKKAA) PURE? Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? As to one who regards himself as self-sufficient To him you attend; Whereas it is not on thee that he is not (YAZAKKA) PURIFIED 803/4/5/6/7

PURIFICATION could be attained by anyone irrespective of his status whether rich or poor, the only thing required is the initiative and the desire

Then say thou 'wouldst thou to be (TAZAKKAA) PURIFIED? "`And that I GUIDE thee to thy LORD so thou should fear Him?' " Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. But (Pharaoh) BELIED it and disobeyed 7917/18/19/20/21

PURIFIED are those who have BELIEVED and are guided by Allah, and those who DISBELIEVE in Allah and His Quran and His messengers and the Last Day are not guided by Allah and are IMPURE.

Gardens Everlasting whereunder rivers flow abiders therein; that is the meed of him who hath (TAZAKKAA) PURIFIED himself. 2076

Gardens are for those who have PURIFIED themselves from POLYTHEISM.

Those who fail to PURIFY their hearts form POLYTHEISM will be disbelievers in the hereafter and therefore not entitled for the Garden.

    CONCLUSION

It is not the CHARITY that will be a CAUSE of becoming DISBELIEVER in the hereafter if not given, but IT IS POLYTHEIST WHO (IF) DO NOT BRING FORTH PURIFICATION FROM POLYTHEISM WILL BE DISBELIEVER IN THE HEREAFTER.

HOW WILL YOU GIVE FROM ZAKAAH?

FA- 'AATI DHAA AL- QURBAA H.AQQ -HU WA- AL- MISKEN WA- IBN AS- SABEL DHAALIKA KHAYR LI- 'ALLADHENA YUREDON WAJH 'ALLAAH WA- 'OLAA'IKA HUM AL- MUFLIH.ON WA- MAA 'AATAYTUM MIN RIBA(N) LI- YARBUWA FE AMWAAL AN- NAAS FA- LAA YARBO cINDA 'ALLAAH WA- MAA 'AATAYTUM MIN ZAKAAH TUREDON WAJH 'ALLAAH FA- 'OLAA'IKA HUM AL- MUD.CIFON 3038/39

So give to the kindred HIS DUE and to Al?Miskin (the poor) and to the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek Allah's Countenance, and it is they who will be successful. That which ye LAY OUT FOR INCREASE THROUGH THE PROPERTY OF (OTHER) PEOPLE will have no increase with Allah but that which ye LAY OUT FOR CHARITY seeking the Countenance of Allah (will increase) it is these who will get a recompense multiplied 3038/39

    WA- MAA 'AATAYTUM MIN RIBA(N)
And what you give from the INTEREST

LI- YARBUWA FE AMWAAL AN- NAAS
In order to increase the wealth of the people

    WA- MAA 'AATAYTUM MIN ZAKAAH
And what you give from the PURITY

    TUREDON WAJH 'ALLAAH
    Seeking the Countenance of Allah

No one can give FROM THE ZAKAAH.

Who gives away his WEALTH that he may be (YATAZAKKA) PURIFIED 9218

THE DOERS / ACTIVE FOR THE ZAKAAH

WA- 'ALLADHENA HUM LI- AZ- ZAKAAH FAAcILON .234

And those who (FAAcILON) pay the Zakat . 234 (Muhsin Khan)
Who are (FAAcILON) active in deeds of charity; 234 (Abdulla Yousuf Ali)
And who are (FAAcILON) payers of the poor due; 234 (Pickthall)
And those who for the sake of purification are (FAAcILON) doers. 234 (Daryabadi)

And who for the ZAKAAH are DOERS / ACTIVE

IT SHOULD BE and who for the PURITY are DOERS / ACTIVE

    INCUMBENT SADAQAH or ZAKAAH?

Alms are for the poor and the needy and those employed to administer the (funds); for those whose hearts have been (recently) reconciled (to truth); for those in bondage and in debt; in the cause of Allah; and for the wayfarer (thus is it) ordained by Allah and Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom. 960

The SADAQAAH is for poor and it also INCUMBENT (FAREDAH). Then what is ZAKAAH and it is for whom and why ZAKAAH is NOT INCUMBENT (FAREDAH). Are ZAKAAH and SADAQAAH and ANFAQ all same?

THOSE WHO CAN'T AFFORD TO GIVE SADAQAAH HOW THEY WILL GIVE ZAKAAH?

O you who believe! When you (want to) consult the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) in private, spend something in CHARITY before your private consultation. That will be better and purer for you. But if you find not (the means for it), then verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Are you afraid of spending in CHARITY before your private consultation (with him)? If then you do it not, and Allah has FORGIVEN YOU then (at least) perform As-Salat and give ZAKAT and obey Allah. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do. 5812/13

Mark the words in bracket (al least), which is not found in the verse. It is a forged insertion to accommodate the evil corruptions.

Those who do not have anything to SPEND in SADAQAAH before meeting the prophet and for that Allah has forgiven them, then why Allah will again command them to give ZAKAAH? It is the PURIFICATION, which is commanded in the verse and not CHARITY.

AFTER SPENDING EVERYTHING IN SADAQAAH WHAT REMAINS FOR ZAKAAH?

It is not piety that you turned your faces towards the east or the west But the piety is, who believed in Allah and the last day And the angels and the scriptures and the prophets And the angels and the scriptures and the prophets And GAVE THE WEALTH to exalt His love (to) the nearest of the kin And the orphans And the poor And the wayfarer And those who beg And those in the bondage And those who established the prayers And those who GAVE CHARITY And those who honoured their covenants when covenanted And those who were patient in the warfare and the adversity and sometimes courageous. Such are the people of truth the Allah-fearing. 2177

WA- 'AATAA AL- MAAL and gave the wealth to poor and..................
WA- 'AATAA AZ- ZAKAAH and gave the charity

How could those people who (SADAQAAH) distributed their wealth to the poor, could be different from those who gave ZAKAAH? Is there any link between these two? Are ZAKAAH and CHARITY two different entities?

The TRUE and PIOUS people are those who GIVE their WEALTH to the poor THEN WHO ARE THOSE WHO GIVE ZAKAAH?

If we assume ZAKAAH as CHARITY then what is that called which is SPENT on poor from the WEALTH?

What will REMAIN with that person who SPENDS all his WELATH in the way of Allah to poor, orphans etc. to give further ZAKAAH? The ZAKAAH is to be given to whom?

Say thou "I am but a man like you it is revealed to me by inspiration that your Allah is One Allah so stand true to Him and ask for His forgiveness." And woe, to THOSE POLYTHIEST WHO bring forth NOT THE PURITY and THEY are DISBELIEVERS in the Hereafter. 416/7

    Thanks

Your post is of some research standards. Good work done.

I have something to ask. Can we say Zakhaa means spending out of what we have earned? And, Sadaqaah means Giving Generously from what Allah had Bestowed upon us?

        Your Quote
I have something to ask. Can we say Zakhaa means spending out of what we have earned? And, Sadaqaah means Giving Generously from what Allah had Bestowed upon us?

WHAT IS GIVEN FROM THE HARD EARNINGS IS SADAQAH

Those who point at such of the believers as give the (SADAQAH) alms VOLUNTARILY and such as can find naught to give but THEIR STRIVINGS (JUHD HUM), and deride them Allah (Himself) derideth them. Theirs will be a painful doom. 979

WHAT IS GIVEN FROM THE RICHES IS SADAQAH

Take thou (SADAQAH) alms out of their RICHES; thereby thou wilt cleanse them and PURIFY THEM and pray thou for them. Verily thy prayer is repose for them; and Allah is Hearing, Knowing. 9103

Whatever is paid from the HARD EARNED and from what is BESTOWED (RICHES) both are called SADAQAH.

In Verse 1881 and 1931 the word ZAKAAH means PURITY.

I consider SADAQAH and ZAKAAH in the Quran, as two different words with different meanings.

        Thanks

The general application of the meaning of 'zakah' is to purify one's soul; and that of 'sadaqah' is to be truthful to one's soul.

Zakah is absolutely essential to purify the wealth a man earns for him in this world through all evil means.

Sadaqah is ordained upon every one who receives the Benevolence from the Ample Giving and the Most Benevolent to show his truthfulness and gratitude to Allah through his generosity in spending for all good causes- and that he cannot show miserliness with the Abundance he has been bestowed upon; and consider himself needless of God's blessings anymore.

Charity means more than money people.

              charity /t?rt/ n ( pl -ties)

a kindly and lenient attitude towards people
              love of one's fellow men
the giving of help, money, food, etc, to those in need
              (as modifier) a charity show
an institution or organization set up to provide help, money, etc, to those in need
the help, money, etc, given to the needy; alms

thank you for 41-6 and 7.
for me, it is only a confirmation and you are right.

Now, the remaining question is How to get purification (zakat).

Please notice also that according to quran, moomin could be,
Moomin (who is respectful towards the amana ?)=Muslim (who receive the amana from God ?)+sadaka (considered as loan to god) + Jihad + Hajj (who debates giving arguments, hojaj, based on the amana to convince truth seekers)

                Peace

Only those who detach from the material world will achieve purity.

                      Salam Hafeez Kazi & all,

I do agree that verse 6 & 7 should be read together. So too is verse 8.

But I am very curious (I am not saying that you are wrong, please. Just plain curious.) about your understanding, especially when you decided to combine the last part of verse 6 and verse 7. Your understanding is "... And woe, TO the polytheists WHO do not GIVE ZAKAAT and they in the Hereafter are disbelievers."

Lets see verse 6 & 7 at this site http//quran.com/41

The 2 verses ombined, we will get this

Say, O , "I am only a man like you to whom it has been revealed that your god is but one God; so take a straight course to Him and seek His forgiveness." And woe to those who associate others with Allah - Those who do not give zakah, and in the Hereafter they are disbelievers.

However, my understanding of the 2 verses is like this

You (s) say, ?Indeed I am a human like you (pl.). It was inspired to me that your god is one single god. So be on a correct course towards Him, and beg for forgiveness. And woe to the Mushrikeen. They are those who do not attain the purity in heart and they, in the end they are the disbelievers."

I also agree that verse 7 is an explanation of Mushrikeen of verse 6, but to me it is not necessarily as simple as "a=b". Rather, 'Musrikeen are those impure in heart who finally became disbelievers (of God)'.

And to me 'zakat' is 'purity in heart'. As an example, my understanding of 243 is

And you (pl.) uphold/correct the relationship (waaqeemoo alssalata) and attain/give the purity in heart (waatoo alzzakata), and acknowledge (wairkaAAoo) together with those people who acknowledge (maAAa alrrakiAAeen).

I trust the call is for us to purify our hearts in all of our relatioships (with God, with other people, with nature, etc.). For example, do we expect anything from our nurturing of cordial relationships with friends or other people? Or perheps, do we expect reciprocates from them, like if we are generous to them we do expect them to be generous to us too? Or that since we believe that we are of proper conduct we expect God to present us with 1,000 virgin maidens? brickwall

I hope this helps in shedding some light on 'zakat', but otherwise please ignore it.

May God guide us all correctly.

                      Cheers!
                      Mohammed Noh
