2829 So after Moses fulfilled his obligation and was traveling with his
family, he saw a fire on the slope of the mount. He said to his
family ?Stay here, I have seen a fire, perhaps I can bring you
from there some news or a burning piece of the fire so that you
    may be warmed.?

This is the moment of Moses just prior to meeting God.

When people need to be warmed?

    • At winter time.

    Blessed period.

    Peace,
    R.

      Salam

i don't think the fire point to winter time only. In the desert the fire is also protection (-wild animals ) the nights can be very cold, not only in the winter...

I didn't find anywhere evidence that they were traveling at night. Thus, day remains the option. And I am not aware of any day other than winter time to be cold in that area.

Also, the verse talks specifically about warming. As a metaphor, it is light and guidance.

        Peace,
        R.

Well, "travelling" not only refers to the time actually on the road, but when I am in a hotel, I am still travelling.
And yes, desert nights can be very cold. In the desert, the difference between night and day (concerning temperature) is often bigger than that of summer and winter.

Moreover, a fire is seen much better in the night than at daytime.

Ok, I have a question at this point

Before asking let's check what Torah says about the miraculous moment of Moses from God

            31
Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian; and he led the
flock to the farthest end of the wilderness, and came to the mountain of God, unto Horeb.

            32
And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush; and he
looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

            33
And Moses said 'I will turn aside now, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.'

            34
And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the
bush, and said 'Moses, Moses.' And he said 'Here am I.'

            35
And He said 'Draw not nigh hither; put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou
            standest is holy ground.'

My question is, since I am not from the contextual region, is there any chance that one could keep flocks in winter season?

            Thank you,
            R.

              First question Where is Midyan?

              Let's check Quran

2844 And you were not on the western slope when We decreed the command to Moses. You were not a witness.

2845 And We established many generations, and many ages passed them by. And you were not living among the people of Midyan, reciting Our revelations to them. But We were to send messengers.

These verses point today's Sudan for Midyan place. Looking from Mecca.

And the climate there needs warming only during winter. Hence, again winter season is pointed for blessings.

              Peace,
              R.

on the western slope = western slope of the TUR, where Moses received the revelation

Looking from Mecca.= why you are looking from the todays Mecca?? You are sure, that the last Prophet lived in this place? (please give evidence from Quran)

Quran speaks from a FIRE but Torah speaks from a bush burned with fire - this is a difference.

is there any chance that one could keep flocks in winter season?

                yes, i think so.

2844 And you were not on the western slope when We decreed the
command to Moses. You were not a witness.

Some translations of this verse I've seen as western side. And I might have agreed with you, that the point of this verse is about the mount, but then why God proceeds after 2845 with

2846 And nor were you on the side of the mount when We called. But
it is a mercy from your Lord, so that you may warn a people who
received no warner before you, perhaps they may take heed.

As for Mecca, true, I cannot tell for sure, but since the last Prophet was arab and the land is today's Saudi Arabia, the western side is either south of today's Egypt or North Sudan.

That's how I can see. Nevertheless the season on which Moses found God initially is the reason why this thread started. For details......God knows best.

As for the fire, I don't see it as a difference, but as a complement.

                  Peace,
                  R.

i don't think, that the word TUR means MOUNT

One of the meanings of 'Tur' is a mountain that produces trees. But the Quran don't describe the nature of the location where Prophet Moses (pbuh) was summoned. It seems that the word 'Tur' denotes a particular place where one hovers around it, or a particular location which one draws near to it and does so repeatedly. This certainly seems to be the classical definitions that are advanced.

                    028.029
"Now when Moses had fulfilled the term and was travelling with his family, he perceived a fire in the direction of 'Tur'. He said to his family, "Wait here, indeed, I have perceive a fire, perhaps I will bring to you from it some news or a brand of fire, so that you may warm yourselves""

                    028.030
"But when he came (to) it, he was called from the right side of the valley from a tree in hallowed ground "O Moses! Verily I am God, the Lord of the Worlds"

In another verse, the valley is referred to as the 'Holy valley of Tuwa'.

                    079.016
"When his Lord called upon in the Holy valley of Tuwa

                    028046

"And you were not at the side of the 'Tur' when We did call; but (the knowledge of it is) a mercy from thy Lord that you may warn a folk to whom no warner came before you, that haply they may give heed"

In opposite to this verse, here we found the word Mountain/Gabal
                    007.143
"And when Moses came to the place appointed by Us (Arabic limiqatina) and his Lord spoke to him, He said "O my Lord! show (Thyself) to me, that I may look upon You." God said "By no means can you see Me; But look upon the mount /Jabali); if it remains in its place, then shall you see Me." But when his Lord manifested His glory on the Mount , He made it crumble to dust. And Moses fell down in a swoon / unconscious. When he recovered his senses he said "Glory be to You! to You I turn in repentance and I am the first to believe."
The law which was given to Musa is also referred as Tur and can be the same place. If the first location where Prophet Musa was summoned is assumed to be somewhere in Madyan, then the law was also most likely to have been received in Madyan.
                    so , when i read
                    028044
?And you were not present on the western side when We gave Moses the Law, nor did you witness that event?

then i think (my personal conclusion) that the western side is the same western side of the valley.(28.30)
the word Gabal is also not written in 2.63 /20.80 - but in translations we found much the introduction 'mount', but in arabic is written Tur.

That's how I can see. Nevertheless the season on which Moses found God initially is the reason why this thread started. For details......God knows best.

i'm sorry for the long off topic reply - for the season i'm not yet completly convinced
Each season has its special beauty and blessings of God. I quite don't like to try to limit those blessings to a specific partial time -
                    peace peace

Truth needs no convincing. It needs letting go. If it stays, it is so.
