Is wudu only for Men then - according to the Quran?

56 O you who believe, if you rise to hold the communion, then wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, and wipe your heads and your feet to the ankles; and if you have had intercourse, then you shall bathe. And if you are ill, or traveling, or you have excreted feces, or you have had sexual contact with the women, and you cannot not find water, then you shall select from the clean soil; you shall wipe your faces and your hands with it. God does not want to place any hardship on you, but He wants to cleanse you and to complete His blessings upon you that you may be appreciative.

I guess it depends on what we seek from the Quran. To me, reading 5/6 metaphorically helps me understand how to prepare for masjid al-haram. Reading as a washing does not.

I agree in that it is telling us what to do when going to Salaat , what your intention should be to cleanse away the differances/ concerns people will have thus bettering the society and individual relationships.
Did you know we arn't supposed to enter masjid al-HARAM..................saying that most of us don't - as we are the good guy's yes

Very good question indeed. I see lots of merit in the query put forth by brother 357. There is nothing about laughing and mocking. I myself have been more perturbed by the conventional translation of the verses 443 and 56, which inter alia stresses upon following a preparatory ritual (WUDHU) before performing another labelled ritual - As-Salat. I do not find the term Wudhu anywhere in Al-Quran and I think that the term 'Salat' has been grossly wronged by the traditionalists without doubt. I would look forward to see the in-depth understanding of brother 357 with regard to the verses 443 and 56 of Al-Quran.
