Is Muahmmed's Resting Place in Medina?
-
Salaams all,
i dought the prophets companions where so neive as to forgo the statements of the prophet about grave worshipping, just read this and according to this aysha's hadith no one knows where he was buried.I wonder how long after they concucted the grave in Medina!!!!!!!The pagans who never let go of their past. This is from a web site i lost track of.
Building Mosques or Placing Lights on
Graves
There are many sound and clear hadith conceming the unlawfulness of
building mosques over graves or putting lights on them. Abu Hurairah
reported "The Prophet, peace be upon him, said 'May Allah destroy
the Jews, because they used the graves of their prophets as places of
worship.'' (Bukhari and Muslim)
Ibn 'Abbas reported "The Messenger of
Allah, peace be upon him, cursed the women who visit graves and those
who build mosques and place lights on them.'' (Reported by Ahmad and
other compilers of the Sunan except Ibn Majah. Tirmidhi considers it a
sound hadith) Abdullah Al-Bujali said "I heard Allah's Messenger,
peace be upon him, five nights before his death, saying 'I declare
myself innocent before Allah of having an intimate friend from among
you. Indeed, Allah, the Mighty and the Majestic, has taken me as an
intimate friend just as he took Ibrahim as His intimate friend. Had I to
take an intimate friend from among you, I would have taken Abu Bakr as
my intimate friend. Before you there was a group who tumed the graves of
their prophets and their righteous ones into mosques. Do not tum graves
into mosques. I forbid you to do that'.''
Abu Hurairah narrated "The Prophet,
peace be upon him, said 'May Allah curse Jews and Christians for they
turned the graves of their Prophets into places of worship'.'' (Muslim
Bukhari and Muslim) 'Aishah reported "Umm Habibah and Umm Salamah
mentioned to Allah's Messenger, peace be upon him, a church in which
they saw drawings while in Abyssinia, whereupon he said 'Those people
used to build a place of worship over the grave of a righteous man among
them when he died and make such drawings in it.These will be the worst
of people in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection.'' (Bukhari
and Muslim)
The author of Al-Mughni said "It is
not permissible to build mosques around graves because of the statement
of the Prophet, peace be upon him, 'May Allah curse the women who visit
graves and those who build mosques and place lights over them.'''
(Reported by Abu Daw'ud and Nasa'i) If it were permissible, the Prophet,
peace be upon him, would not have cursed those who did it. Moreover,
this practice wastes money and encourages adoration of graves similar in
spirit to the adoration of idols. Because of this report it is not
pemmissible to build mosques over graves. Besides, the Prophet, peace be
upon him, said, "May Allah curse the Jews who tumed the graves of
their prophets into places of worship," in order to wam others
against pursuing a similar course. (Muslim and Bukhari)
'Aishah said "The only reason the
grave of Allah's Messenger, peace be upon him, was not made prominent
was to stop people from tuming it into a mosque." Designating
certain graves as places of prayers is similar to adoring idols and
seeking their pleasure. The worship of idols started with the adoration
of the dead, making images of them, touching them, and offering prayers
at their graves. (The commentator on this said "It points to what
Bukhari narrated from Ibn Abbas conceming the reason why the people of
Noah worshipped idols. They were known as Wadd, Sawa', Yaghuth, Ya'uq,
and Nasr. These were pious people of whom they made images in order to
remember them after their death and imitate them. Due to the lack of
knowledge that became prevalent among the people, Satan made it appear
beautiful to worship their images and likenesses, and to honor them,
wipe over them, and approach them. Wiping them is passing one's hand
over them to invoke their blessing and intercession. The same was done
to the graves of nghteous people. This practice was initiated by
idolaters, and then passed on to Jews and Christians and then to
Muslims. Such objects are equivalent to idols. -
Salaams Dear Taj, all,
You can answer this the BEST.
Is prophet Isa Dead ,it says somewhere all souls will taste death,or was he taken to heaven alive and is he going to return?
If Dead as ,has been proved and from the quran alone by some one other then me(i have a reasoned argument to this effect) - What is the empty coffin next to the prophets coffin doing there?!.
And if one coffin is a LIE, then surely the other is such, Thanks .

Salaam mz357,
You can answer this the BEST.
Answer the best to what!? The Ahadeeth in your post? Are you serious!? I don't buy them, of course! Is prophet Isa Dead ,it says somewhere all souls will taste death,or was he taken to heaven alive and is he going to return?
The answer to that is found in . The Arabic word in that Aya which is used to mean when Allah ends the life of someone = tawaffaytanee, was used by Prophet Easa. Translators have their own opinions about it.

To me it looks like the life of Prophet Easa on Earth did reach an end.If Dead as ,has been proved and from the quran alone by some one other then me(i have a reasoned argument to this effect) - What is the empty coffin next to the prophets coffin doing there?!.
Prophet Muhammad (P&PBUH) was not buried in a coffin = Taboot = casket. What is the empty coffin next to the prophets coffin doing there?!.
I have no idea what you are talking about, sorry!Taj

Salaams Taj,
i asked you "is he going to return, prophet isa?"if not then of course the quistion was , why have they placed the empty coffin in the prophets mosque for P.Isas return.
But you have said Prophet has died , So the empty coffin for Prophet Isa in the prophets mosque has no use as prophet isa will not be coming back.
If the empty coffin is based on the lie ,prophet isa returning ,then surely what does the prophet Muhammads coffin contain? Not prophet muhammad surely?just a reasoned out argument nothing more.
Sorry for the not making it clear before.
Thanks.
Salaams.

Salaam mz357,
I have never heard about the coffins thing before, because Muslims don't even use coffins to begin with! From where did you get that story?
But I will ask around nevertheless!
But you do mean by the coffin a casket, don't you?I just asked about the resting place of Our Prophet Muhammad and the answer was, there is no coffins inside the chamber. There are three graves, one for Muhammad (P&PBUH), the second is for AboBakr and the third is for Omar. No open coffins or anything of the sort! That is something no one has heard of, it seems! And Prophet Easa is not even in the picture!!!

Salaams Taj,
mind you i have been to medina on a number of occasions, four to be exact, and with different peoples and all i have to date - the information is/was there are the three graves you mentioned plus an empty place for jesus when he comes back to earth he will be buried there, but i am not sure whether this is a belief ,now ,of the majority as you arn't aware of this.May be someone other could shed light on this - who knows more.
Thanks.
Salaam.

Salaam mz357,
Wallahe I am surprised by what you say. I don't know how you could get inside, because the chamber is 'tightly' closed. It is not an open place where you can see what's in there and point to this or that. It's like walls behind walls and those who got to get inside are very few, the Sadanah (the keepers) of the chamber and some Presidents!
And I did ask about Prophet Easa and the answer was negative; nothing of what you say regarding a coffin or the return of Easa and that there is a place reserved for his burial! However I will keep asking whenever the occassion allowed!Anyway, thanks and
Peace!Taj

Salaams Taj,
i think you probably havn't been around that long ,until about 1984 (the first time i went) you could get close and peep inside and see the raised graves as i remember they were about 5 teet high and to my knowledge there is a space for another grave on the left when facing the tomb, they had a green shroud on the graves with some writing. They have only put the barackade aound as people use to kiss the cage and throw notes, letters inside it.And now you are quite afar so you can't touch the metal cage. But when you come up with more info ,share it.
Thanks ,Salaams.

Peace be upon you,
To the question "Is Muhammads resting place in Medina?" my answer is Muhammad who?
If you mean a man named Muhammad Ibn Abdullah, then I have no clue as I did not witness such a man, nor witness the burial of such a man.
If you mean "muhammad" of the reading(quran), then I say NO, Muhammad is not a specific man, it is the characteristic of one who is appreciative of the God and His system. This description NEVER dies.

Peace Idolfree,
I was just wondering why none of the messengers in the Quran had their last names mentioned ( like ibn abdullah). This is obviously something purposeful, God doesn't do things in vain. To me your understanding seems to make sense as an explanation for this.Peace
